You are all so wonderful, we are truly honored
wonderful news, guys. the uploader sent me the actual lyrics to the song.
here are the correct lyrics:
1) O hie thee forth o'er golden mead.
Yon is the maypole set
A ribbon to wind thy soul
And to bind love to thy breast
2) From flesh removed our chalk footfall
Tempers this holy ground
Where timeless spirits meet
round the heart of pottsfield town.
3) Here lie the dead forever blest
Beneath this earthly sod
May they find peace and rest
In the presence of our god
4) "Their labours follow after them,"
Thus doth the spirits say
Their works be honored still
On this solemn festal day
(special thanks to Shelley Phillips for sending me the lyrics)
Blessed, sun, god, then it sounds like they sing dost but it ought to be thus (makes more sense). Must is either words or works, can’t tell.
so the second to last sentence could be: "Their words/works be honored still" or "there would be honor still"
any ideas on the last sentence? festival? festfull?
spychecker I think it is festival, and also “honored” like “(may) their words/works be honored still”. Also in the line before that it sounds like “sang”
crujjy i think that must be it. one question: "there, words be honored still" or "their words be honored still"?
@@ianbirchfield5124 Forgot which one is which so I shouldn't say anything but one does mean people.

I did this transcription for them 😊 so nice to hear it performed!!
Hi Sofia, I'm a choir director in Southern California and I love this! I would like to do it this year for our Fall concert. Is there any chance I could look at the score and perhaps use it in my concert? Thank you!
Excellent job! The full SATB range really comes through in this performance. Where did you find those last two verses? Never knew they existed
@@theMolluskMan Someone wrote them and added them. They go well with the original words!
@@theMolluskMan I'm pretty sure they were just borrowed from an another old common meter hymn.
Totally Old American.
Where did y'all get those extended lyrics? The Blasting Company only wrote two versus that I know of.
Probably the chorus director added them. The first two verses are a celebration of life and death (a more pagan vision compared to the tragic christian view of death), the second verses are more traditional christian (mentions of work being honored, presence of god). The show avoided religious references so they could have a more mystic approach to magic and mistery. Beautiful interpretation, though.
There’s also a slight shift in meter as well. It goes from a ballad meter (abcb) to a strict common meter (abab)
@@Ojos.juntos Death is nNOT tragic in Christianity. Christ freed the world from detah and sin.
@@nikosr265it still remains an unfortunate loss and hurts to miss our loved ones and Friends, and our memories shared with them in Life. And while the Heavens rejoice at their greeting an old friend, it is fitting they should be missed here on Earth at their passing; As babies cry upon their entry unto the Earth, so do we cry as our loved ones leave it. But the same and similarly do the Angels rejoice at their arrival in Heaven as we rejoice in our loved ones arrival at birth.
Spooky Scary Skeletons, the original version.
This is wonderful. It's such a great tune that I always thought it needed more verses. I'd love to sing it with my shape note group. Is the musical score available?
Bless you!
I loved every second of this. Also, Redwood Teen Music Camp looks really fun.

The words are correct but the shapes are not. Listen more closely to the tune at the beginning. The shapes change as the notes change because they correspond to the different notes.
@@mh605 I know. I mixed the actual lyrics in with the lyrics provided here. So technically it is correct in a way. The ones I put are if one person will sing them
I have no clue what you mean but I’m on a mission to like every comment here because this song is beautiful
Well done! Beautifully arranged and excellent dynamics!
Ironically I found this video today (Jun 20 2020) but anyways the last two verses added in is very lovely and respectful 🖤
I want that sung at my funeral.
وهل الناس يغنون في الجنازات 😂😂😂😂 اذا كنتي مسيحية فعلى الأقل أن يتلوا عليكي إنجيل حتى إنجيلكم محرف جهنم تنتضرك

Hi guys! I'm just going to ask you all to e-mail me at shelley@got.net and I'll send our nice shaped version with the added lyrics. Bri said she got the suggestion from a thread on the fasola songwriters forum, and that the other song was called Apocalypse. Any lyrics in the same meter will work too. Amazing Grace works great!
Wow, great
Well done! Where are those extra verses from?
@@communitymusicschoolofsant6768 Would love to know where the extra verses are from! I helped write the original tune -- I know it's Common Meter, so could be from anywhere, but would be nice to know!
@@trimtab2 From our assistant camp manager: "I found them here (groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/fasola-songwriters/Ei0zNoxATNY) while I was looking for a transcription of the music. A user Randy says “[I] added a 2-verse paraphrase of a text from the Apocalypse. Scheidt, Telemann, Billings (in numerous fasola books), Brahms, and I (in 4 shapes) have set prose versions to music, so it has numerous precedents in music history.” and that’s all the information I have, but possibly he could be asked for further clarification? The thread is a few years old, though."
This is awesome work!
Will there be more like this it sounds really good.
This is so beautiful 😭
This is really beautiful guys
Amazing

Anybody know how to put pictures or PDFs up in comments? I've got it all neatly transcribed and shaped for you all...
i'm really glad you've got the lyrics for us. unfortunately i'm not that tech savvy. until someone comes around who can help, could you simply type out the lyrics in the video description or comments?
@@ianbirchfield5124 email me at shelley@got.net? Then you can have the shapes too...
Hi ms. Phillips! I was wondering if I could email you to get the PDF, the sacred harp group I'm a part of wants to do this song! Love this!!! sounds gorgeous.
This is absolutely beautiful...... I’m not crying your crying
This is so great, amazing job!!!!
I would LOVE a copy of this sheet music so I could do it with my kids! :)
Send me an email at shelley@communitymusicschool.org and I’ll send a PDF!
Wow this sounds so good!!
Beautiful job! If anyone can shed light on something I can't understand, I would appreciate it haha. Why is the solfegge "Fa La So" on the notes "G B D"? Can anyone explain?
Muito bom
this is awesome
Thank you UA-cam algorithm
new one soon :)
I love scared harp
OMG.. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Lovely ...Thank You All
Whered the extended vers come from?
The song is in in Common Meter (well technically ballad meter because of the ABAC rhyme scheme, but it’s otherwise interchangeable), so it’s probably taken from another CM hymn with that would work thematically with the original verses.

Funny that a methodist place sings this when its about pagans in limbo X'D
We just rent there! And Community Music School is not a Cult. We are an Educational Organization. We chant that every morning.
If you turn up the speed to 1.25, it'll sound just like the version from the show!
And for added fun - tweak the speed back down to 1x right before the last like is sung! Gives it a lovely coda!
If you turn it up to 1.75 it'll sound just like a Sacred Harp singing
