This song is almost synonymous with Korea in my mind, but I have an extra special memory of my mother-in-law (Whom I absolutely LOVED) that is associated with this song. The story would take a few minutes to read if I was to type it out, so I won't here. The story itself took place in 1985, not long after my wife and I first got married. Both of my wife's parents have long departed this world, and the world is an emptier place without them. I'm back in Korea these days and really love my wife's homeland. I love 국악 traditional music as well as the trot music and the music that was popular when my wife and I first got married here 30 years ago ... and when our first daughter was born here 28 years ago. I've never seen the movie, and probably will never watch it, but this is an absolutely gorgeous rendition of Arirang.

신기한게 그당시 영화관에서 볼 때 그닥 집중해서 못봤거든요.. 뭔가 지루하고 초딩이 쓴것 같은 느낌이라 집중안되는 그런 영화였는데 마지막 엔딩곡에선 발목을 잡던ㅋㅋㅋ 오랜만에 생각나서 영화 보고왔는데 그당시의 느낌이랑 완전 다른데요? 나름 볼만함 ㅋㅋ 스토리야 영구나 슈퍼홍길동 감성이지만 그부분만 잘 참고 넘기니 전투장면도 볼만하고 사운드도 팡팡 터지는게 끝내주네요 ㅋㅋㅋ 너무 기대가 컸던걸까요? 생각해보면 할리우드 b급 전쟁영화 액션영화랑 비교해도 더 나은수준.. 그런 제작비가 들어갔는데 그정도도 못하면 어떡하냐 당연히 더 낫겠지.. 이렇게 말하는 사람들도 있겠지만 제 경우엔 다시 이 영화를 보니 그시절 극장에서 보던 느낌과 많이 다르고 볼만한 영화같아요 ㅋㅋ
