Damn, as a kid I’ve always wanted Lego to make an official titanic set. Looks like they’ve finally made one, after all these years. Gonna save up for one, hopefully it doesn’t get discontinued before I can buy it.
The price on these more advanced sets is ridiculous, but I really appreciate the attention to detail that the designers over at LEGO put into this one.
It's a lot of money, but I think that given its size, over 9000 pieces, and being such an iconic model, it's actually good value compared to some of the smaller sets that do seem overpriced. Wish I could get my hands on one, they are proving difficult to find!
My mom sent me this set out of nowhere and it confused me, but I love it nonetheless. The build was quite long and at some points repetitive, but once I recognized a pattern (mainly in the porthole areas of the ship), I could easily fly through bags and such. Truly a magnificent and enormous set!
That would be a dumb idea. Mold would grow from the inside because no air is drying the water after you take it out even an hour later so, you're right that he shouldn't put it in the water. That would be so difficult drying every room in that ship
Epic set. Fantastic speed build. I think the only set that compares in length is the Saturn V. I imagine this is quite possibly the heaviest Lego set assembled as it's surprisingly very densely built. Definitely on my list for 2023.
Fun fact: at the time the titanic set sail the flag only had 46 stars. And the flag on this model also features 46 stars. The fact that they payed that attention to detail makes me mad when they fuck up Star Wars stuff
@@SupersuMC New Mexico and Arizona joined in January and February of 1912, a few months before the ship sank in April of the same year. That’s amazing but there’s two things I want to ask - 1) it looks like the flags are stickers - why doesn’t Lego paint them making an great set even better ? …. and 2) when will Lego make an five thousand piece Iceberg to go with it ?
The flags aren't actually stickers, they are flexible plastic sheets. To put them on the set, there are small holes punched into the plastic sheets that can be slotted onto lego bar elements. The other pieces that appear to be stickers are printed.
If anyone is wondering why the peaces are all different colours like yellow and blue and just colours that don’t fit. It’s cause it’s cheaper to grab peaces from other sets that get masses produced more then a special set like this Titanic so anything that dose not need to be coloured the ships colours it’s more easy to throw in those different colour peaces then having to recolour every peace
I think the more important reason is that it's easier to find specific pieces if they're color coded. If *every* piece was white, black, or red, parts would be hard to find when all mixed together, which is especially a problem with a set that has over 9,000 pieces. But if you need one certain part for the construction, it's way easier to pick out all the blue ones and narrow it down. They're not visible when the set is fully assembled, so it doesn't matter. This is a technique that Lego has used for years.
How long does it actually takes to build this model? Funny enough, it was this video that introduced me to Lego’s Titanic and fell in love with it. I feel the way it is designed in 3 separate sections to recreate the breaking part of the sinking, which is based on the first theory, I don't know if it will be possible to do the second one which is between funnel 2 & 3 instead 3 & 4
Considering that the model separates on the expansion joints, whereas during the sinking the ship broke just before the third funnel (as recently discovered, the movie was made before that was know) I think they’ve deliberately designed it so it doesn’t resemble the sinking, as I think the designers have said they wanted to honour the ship as it was designed to be, instead of the tragedy it became.

the fact that this set costs the same amount as the UCS stardestroyer but has twice the amount of pieces just shows how overpriced Lego star wars is sadly...
What techniques do you guys use for these massive sets? I personally take each numbered bag and sort each bag by color so that I can narrow down the choices in deciding if something is or isn't the piece I'm looking for. It usually helps when gathering the "ingredients" for a certain section, but the sorting process usually take a bit longer. So do you guys just dump out all the pieces on one of the numbered bags and just go from there? What do y'all think is the most efficient way to facilitate a really large build like this?
@@svorskemattias Yeah, so like i'll take the bag labelled 1 and dump out all of those pieces inside of that bag into a pile, and then I just group all of those pieces together by color. All of the black pieces in bag one go into one pile; all of the blue pieces from bag one go into another pile; all the white pieces from bag one go into another pile, etc.. Like I said, I'm not sure if taking that step to sort by color is more trouble than it's worth, but that's just been the method I have developed for myself. It may very well not save any time at all in the long run, but that's just how I do it lol. So you just take all the pieces from one bag and dump them all out randomly and just go hunting for whichever pieces you need for a step? I've never done it that way, but I feel like that method would take longer to find the right pieces?
@@STSGuitar16 If id sort them Id sort them by type I guess. But remember, the goal is to make any lego build last as long as possible. Any routine that gives you satisfaction doesnt need any other motivation. :)
@@svorskemattias You're totally right, dude, time-saving lego building methods are for losers lol. I think at the very least, my current method of sorting pieces by color may result in a tiny bit more appreciation for the individual pieces, because of the extra step of handling them more than once as they're being sorted into their piles. By taking more time to visually take in every little individual piece in a set (rather than just dumping them in a pile and only really handling the pieces once, whenever they're required for a step) might actually be a plus for my method lol. I've just now realized this, but maybe we should all take a bit more time savoring a Lego build. That first-build feeling on a new set is always awesome. Like, I've had the Home Alone house kit for about a week now, but I still haven't taken it out of the box yet. Just trying to savor that excitement for a new kit lol.
Lego would make maquets of others boats cheapest than the Titanic and with some details' similarities of the set. It could be cool and I can be interested
That’s actually a steal considering the number of lego bricks in it. Average market value of a Lego brick is $0.10 With around 10,000 bricks in it they could have charged $1000 but chose not to.
So go buy one if you want to spend $600 on Legos...wasn't looking for an explanation, just saying I'm not spending $600 just to make a model of the Titanic out of Legos...

Because capitalism
Oh God this takes me back my parents bought me this set when I was waaaaaaaaay too young I want to try again
the fact that this set costs the same amount as the UCS stardestroyer but has twice the amount of pieces just shows how overpriced Lego star wars is sadly...
Well you can thank liscencing fees for that one. Hi Disney 👋
@@STARMAN-it8zb Well I highly doubt the fees are that high that Lego has to do 200% pricing.
just ordered this and got me a light kit from lightmybricks with a dimmer. cant wait to smack this thing together.
IF I ever got this set, I’d be listening to the JonTron song “Titenic” the entire time.
Imagine you open the third box, hoping to find the last part of the ship... turns out it's a big bag of icy white blocks...
NOOOOOOOOOOO THATS TOO FAR LMFAO 💀💀
What techniques do you guys use for these massive sets? I personally take each numbered bag and sort each bag by color so that I can narrow down the choices in deciding if something is or isn't the piece I'm looking for. It usually helps when gathering the "ingredients" for a certain section, but the sorting process usually take a bit longer. So do you guys just dump out all the pieces on one of the numbered bags and just go from there? What do y'all think is the most efficient way to facilitate a really large build like this?
Sorting by color? I can filter out all pieces with the wrong color at any instant with all pieces in one pile.
@@STSGuitar16 😊
Lego would make maquets of others boats cheapest than the Titanic and with some details' similarities of the set. It could be cool and I can be interested
This thing costs over $600!?!? I'll just watch you build it...
That’s actually a steal considering the number of lego bricks in it. Average market value of a Lego brick is $0.10
With around 10,000 bricks in it they could have charged $1000 but chose not to.
So go buy one if you want to spend $600 on Legos...wasn't looking for an explanation, just saying I'm not spending $600 just to make a model of the Titanic out of Legos...
Did you open the box upside down??
no😅
I really admire your shelf setup for storage bins. Do you have a link to any of that or is it all custom?
Custom
Wow you have super human speed! 😆 it's going to take me days to complete this lego set lol
