Opening a Yu-Gi-Oh Booster Box for the First Time *CHAOS IMPACT*

- We've been opening so much Pokemon on here that I thought it'd be nice to take a break and open up some Yu-Gi-Oh! I used to collect these when I was young but haven't opened a pack in 15+ years. This is also the first time on this channel!
How I grade my PSA Pokemon cards: gradedgem.com
MY PC: bit.ly/randolph-pc
Randolph is basically making me relive all my childhood. Love these vids
Agreed. Its like xmas filled with joy
Same 😂😂
And my dreams
It's always so interesting when someone opens yu-gi-oh cards for the first time. Now, since I am sure that you and many other viewers of yours have the same questions that you did, I'll answer them to the best of my abilities. :))
1. The rarities of the game:
[Note: these are only the rarities from the current booster sets, cuz this game has so many more other rarities)
-Common (which is self explanatory on how it looks like)
-Rare (these cards have their names in silver-shining letters. An example from the video would be Salamangreat Transcendence)
-Super Rare (these are the cards that don't have a shiny name, but have a holographic picture. Ex: Gorgon, Empress of the Evil Eyed from the video)
-Ultra Rare (these cards have a holographic picture and have a gold-shining name. Ex: Bownty from the video)
-Secret Rare (these cards have a rainbow-shining name and the picture has little holographic dots that follow a diagonal line. Ex: Salamangreat Pyro Phoenix from the video)
-Prismatic Secret [this is not the actual name of this rarity, it's a name adopted by the fans, but I will go into detail only if someones asks about this]
(these cards have rainbow-shining name, pretty much the whole card has holographic dots that follow a square pattern and the boarder of the card is silver-shining)
2. The Salamangreat Pyro Phoenix from the video is just a normal secret rare because of the reasons above
3. Pretty much every box is 1st edition. The unlimited appear usually when that sets receives a Special Edition in which the booster packs are reprinted or the whole set is reprinted in boxes (however this one doesn't happen that often)
4. The prices in yu-gi-oh, at least for the newer sets, come from 2 factors: a) How playable and competitive is a card and b) How hard it is to pull it from a booster pack
The artwork on YuGioh is my favourite. Such clean art! 🎨
Even though Randolph is new to this I just love his personality and these vids take me back to my childhood, love it man keep it up
The salamangreat pyro Phoenix card u pulled is not the one ur looking for it’s a normal secret rare u have and normalsecret pyro Phoenix is £18:00 to £20:00
See the black corners that tells u it’s not prismatic
They have a whiter out line and is more glossy than the one u have
And just to let u know the odds there’s only a select few cards that is prismatic
And yes pyro Phoenix is one of them
And the evil eyed link monster is also one of them and ip masquerena
The odds of pulling a prismatic secret rare is 1 in 600 packs witch is 1 in 25 cases in total yeah very slim
The main card people would go for in chaos impact is marincess blue tang and that’s a £60:00 to £80:00 card
Hope this was helpful to you Randolph
You can ask me again by through this comment
Where did you get the price on blue tang?
On eBay at the time when chaos impact was released it was at that price and now it’s around a £20 to £25 card
Ok good I'm thinking you don't know the card processing at all.
Was it during when I informed Randolph about pyro Phoenix or when you saw my comment
Just asking
@@galaxygaming2664 i just read your first comment bud and saw an error. I'm thinking you didn't know the card prices. Since your comment was from 2 days ago and the card hype died down around a week or more ago I thought you did not know the pricing at all.
Yu gi oh is one of the hardest games to learn now a days they make awesome cards but havent collected them for years love me pokemon but the yu gi oh took me back I loved it randolph
Yu-Gi-Oh is awesome, although the current game today is so hard to get into as there's so many factors to it
They fucked the game by putting in so much garbage that it's not even fun anymore.
@@extrekter you're prob too dumb and too poor to play properly lmao
And they have banned sooooo many cards from play.
I just got back into yugioh, it was weird adjusting to links and xyz and all that but its not too bad overall
The main reason it's hard to get into is because there are like fucking 20 meta decks and you have to know how to play against all of them.
Soooooo glad you're doing Yu-Gi-Oh on here as well!
You should do a bit more Yu-Gi-Oh, but also don't over do it
Yes he needs to do more
@@BIGGERCAMEL69 no
Why
Love your vids man I’ve been waiting a long time for a Pokemon channel like this that I watch all the time
9:25 lmao we all knew what he was abt to say
Dan TRE lmao
I don't know alot about Yu-Gi-Oh but I would really love to collect these cards, love the designs on them, can't wait to get packs!
Randolph is officially my favourite UA-camr, I love both yugioh and pokemon and you my dude you are the perfect mix..
If you're looking to get back into yugioh a good start would be duel devistator along with 3 copies of a structure deck
Keep doing more of these. I'd like to see you open Duel Power and Rising Rampage
let's go randolph!
I hope you find fun in this game and get into it. it's super fun and there's a huge cardpool which means you have infinite opportunities of choosing what to play. don't get discouraged by the long card texts and the gatekeepers. it's actually a really cool game to get into.
I would love more Yu-Gi-Oh! Content.
Am lovin the you gi oh content. I would love to watch more of these
I don't collect Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon is more my thing, but I've always thought the artwork was really beautiful.
If you're into it, maybe you could do a series where you open up a few packs from different games just to go through the artwork and actual card quality and stuff like that? Kind of like a little preview, I guess. (It might be easier/more fun if you bring in a friend who knows the game or is interested in the artwork.)
Just for the future:
Common: no shiny writing and no shiny picture
Rare: silver writing but no shiny picture
Super rare: shiny picture but no shiny writing
Ultra rare: gold writing and shiny picture
Secret rare: silver writing and a shiny picture with what look like lines going diagonally down the card.
Prismatic secret rare: same as the secret rare but the lines go sideways across the card not diagonal.
Also on average in a booster box you get 2 secret rares and 4 ultra rares. If you want to actually play yugioh the best way to get into it is buying 3x of a structure deck(because it gives you 3 copies of all the cards you need to build a decent deck) I'd recommend the soul burner structure deck because the deck you can make out of it is one of the strongest decks rn. I'd also pick up 3x of duel devastator if you want to be even more serious as that is a set card list where you get a load of the meta cards that are used in pretty much every deck (buy 3 so you get 3 copies of everything). If you want to do more booster box openings then I'd suggest the rising rampage booster box.
this brings back so many good times I have 10 booster boxes to open up for xmas
Yes Randolph! I rate yugioh but I love your Pokémon card openings, this is good content no matter your experience 🤩
enjoyed the video, if you do more yu-gi-oh openings, maybe get a yu-gi-oh mat?
It’s a shame that pyro Phoenix is 10x less than he thought it was.
Lmao I laughed when he called it a prismatic secret rare and it was just a secret rare
Hey Randolph im a fan of your music and your vlogs you are an awesome cool dude im a huge Yu-Gi-Oh! fan to this day still and this was a nice change too see. lots of love & support man!
One of my favorites artist now getting cards from my favorites card games
Randolph always amazes me hes doing yu gi oh damn keep it up dude
Lol yo henrique
Btw get the golden sarcophagus 2019 mega tins
more more more, plz I need it.
I like yugioh cards more but will still support the pokemon videos.
Agree
The blue card is link summon, black card is xyz summon, white card is syncro summon, purple card is fusion summon, light blue card is ritual summon..
Also for the the pyro phoniex its not the prismatic secret because the secret fooling isn't on the boarder. If you want to make money from sets, open Savage Strike or Dark Neo Storm because those are the 2 best sets of the year
you can go to ots stores for tournaments/free duels
Go old school, not alot of people enjoy the new cards but everyone love the old sets , watch "simply unlucky" hes a great source,
Great content loving the move into yu-gi-oh alongside pokemon wish you well my man
You do realize that simply unlucky is a shady guy
He's a scammer and does shady business practices
@@Matthew-bm7xh I wasnt aware no ,are you sure that isn't just rumours , he always seemed genuine..
@@brad-leaks-reality it's a facade
He's genuinely a bad guy
Only thinking about turning a profit
You are exaclty right it is less about the overall look of the card and more about the effect there is card called staples cards that most decks you cause they are really good that can go for a lot obviously meta does change and ban lists does change the prices
always best to sell fast in yugioh, even more so if you're not going to be playing the tcg but if you are you want a deck with an archetype for example: Aroma, Dinowrestler, Dream mirror and Marincess and spells traps and extra deck cards that complement them
Please do more of these, Yu Gi Oh is so sick and I love it. Maybe try and open packs with the OG cards, with likes of blue eyes, red eyes, dark magician etc?
Go to any card/comic book shop they normally do tournaments for yugioh and pokémon or will know where to go for one forbidden planet is a good shop to look at in London or close encounter if looking outside of there
My childhood!
You should show us your collection from your childhood in love with 1st editions
Randolph, those arent prismatic rares. Those are secret rares. Prismatic rares have horizontal lines on the foil. Secrets have diagonal lines. Also why some cards are worth more than others are based on the following things: Rarity/short print, some cards are way harder to get. Like a secret or prismatic. Competitive value, if the card has a very good effect for competitive meta/rogue play. Hype, sometimes hype boys hype cards up to the point that a card can get expensive because of the demand. Personally if you are gonna get back into yugioh i would suggest playing with a casual deck and go through every mechanic step by step. Those are way cheaper, instead of a competitive meta/rogue deck that can go up into the 100+.
Buy some of the sets that feature older characters! Theyre so nostalgic
Couldn't agree more dude
Insane concept should be fun
Hey Randolph I cannot wait for Pokemon Sword and Shield, can you??
This is sick Randolph, I'm glad your getting into yugioh again. I love yugioh and I hope you'll live it too. It'd be wicked if I could duel against you hehe.
there's some nice dragon ball cards out there, booster boxes are fairly cheap too
You are 100% Correct man. Yugioh is all about the game not the collecting. Prises are based on there power and there accessibility
Randolph doing big things ya know
Bit of a late comment (so don't think anyone will see it), but thought I'd try answering the vast majority of questions you have at once for anyone/collating some single things I've seen in a couple of comments skimming them. (warning incredibly long comment, in 2 parts as wouldn't let me post it in 1 go)
In terms of opening packs, in a normal box from a core set (like chaos impact that you have here) each pack you get 9 cards (less than pokemon) which will have 7 commons (no shine or anything), a rare (silver name but no shine on artwork) and 1 super rare or above: super rare - shiny picture
ultra rare - shiny picture with a gold name (4 per box)
secret rare - shiny picture with like diagonal lines on it and a silver rare (2 per box), as people have said this is the rarity of pyro phoenix you got not the prismatic one
prismatic rare - kind of like a secret but has straight lines and they cover the entire card (also the card border is shiny) these only appear in the last 2 sets though (chaos impact and rising rampage) and are incredibly rare to get they are basically like full art versions of gxs in pokemon as in they're better version of other cards already in the set. This rarity tecnically doesn't have a name and there is already another rarity called prismatic but it is hardly used.
Yeah the cards are a lot harder to pronounce than pokemon but with a bit of practice you should be good, yugitubers can't pronounce card names anyway. With card prices on tcgplayer generally if a card is worth $10 for example itll be around 10 quid on ebay, as you used you want to use the card code to look up cards on ebay or to work out the rarity on tcgplayer if the card has multiple versions. In general no one does a card trick when opening yugioh packs on youtube. The cards are a lot smaller/flimsier than pokemon but normally (as in i havent seen it at all, at least not to this extent) the cards arent all damaged like the ones in your box and you'd want to buy small size sleeves for yugioh cards.
If you open any older boxes there are some other rarities, i'm not sure when they stopped these:
ultimate rare - textured picture, generally a better version of cards already in the set, kind of like a secret rare trainer in pokemon
ghost rares - mirror like effect on the card art (you cant see the card artwork unless you tilt the card) incredibly rare (but less so than prismatics) and 1 per set, incredibly expensive especially in good condition as the card image is prone to scratching very easily
other rarities do exist, for example gold rare, that have also been discontinued
There are other boxes from special sets, for example mystic fighters which are coming out next week, there are some variety between them but for mystic fighters:
each pack has 5 cards
each pack contains 4 super rares and 1 secret rare (for another set like this, legendary duelists: immortal destiny that came out recently its 4 commons 1 rare and maybe a super/ultra rare if you're lucky)
in general for sets like this the most expensive cards are "short printed" meaning even though they are the same rarity as the other secret rares they are printed significantly less often than the others and as such will be worth more, these are also almost always the most playable cards in the set
Unlike pokemon there isn't really much variety in yugioh products, the main things are packs or special editions:
you get 3 packs per special edition
you get 2 promo cards out of 4 (each slot you can get 1 of 2 cards)
special edition cards are not first edition whereas all boxes are (can be seen by the eye of anubis in the bottom right corner being silver instead of gold and the card won't say 1st edition on it in the bottom left) there isn't much price difference but for the higher value cards they are generally worth a bit less
There are also megatins that are printed each year:
these will have 3 massive packs in containing reprints of cards from the last year of sets
will have 1 card of each higher rarity per pack (this year they changed the rarity of the cards were changed from their actual set and prismatic secrets are used instead of secrets (what i said earlier when i said theres another rarity called prismatic
Yugioh also makes structure decks much like pokemon have theme decks, but for the most part in recent years these have been competitive decks and by far the cheapest way to play yugioh (i'll discuss that more later though), theres also an advent calendar that theyve done for the past 2 years that will always have the same cards in it but set up like an advent calendar and theyve also recently released a box called duel devestator where you get 56 guaranteed cards that are very good for competitive deck building. There are also OTS packs that you can get from playing in irl tournaments (3 cards per pack potential of a super or ultis in a pack, generally 3 ultis in a box of 50) that are for the most part reprints of sought after competitive cards.
There's another version of yugioh called speed duels, that are much like duel links if youve played that, where there are also structure decks (called started decks in this) and booster boxes:
there are 36 packs per box (instead of the normal 24)
each pack has 4 cards
im not totally sure how the pack/box breackdown looks like on these but i think you can get 4 commons in a pack and then a potential of 1 super/ultra rare per pack
That's pretty much it in terms of product, i've probably missed something but that's the main points.
In terms of the price of the cards as you suspected it is greatly determined by playability with the higher rarity cards generally being worth more (especially as they are normally the better cards), some cards will be more popular in terms of artwork (for example sky striker ace - raye (but that's also the main card in a very popular deck for the last 2 years)) but that won't have an impact on the price, but unlike pokemon there isn't a selection of popular already known pokemon, so apart from something being in a popular archetype (i'll explain that later) it cant really have the impact of pulling a charizard for example. Older popular cards, like dark magician etc. might have more value than another card of similar rarity for nostalgia though but they aren't often printed and its normally the original versions that will be expensive, that's the only real way artwork determines price. There isn't much point grading yugioh cards unless they are very old or very high value as unlike pokemon or mtg yugioh cards arent often graded and there isnt really a market for them.
In terms of playing, yugioh is an incredibly complicated game (much more so than the pokemon tcg) and will take a while to learn properly. In terms of playing it, as you said you can play it online (but unlike pokemon/mtg no official konami licensed simulators exist) but because of this you get all the cards for free from the start. For the main part there is Dueling Book, a web based simulator that plays much like irl (very manual, the game doesn't do much for you). And ygopro (i recommend percy as there are different versions) where you have to download it but it is a lot more automatic (as in the game does a lot for you, kind of like duel links). Personally I prefer DB as it is more like irl, but ygopro is good for beginners as it holds your hand a bit more. There's also duel links which is a lot different in terms of gameplay/what decks exist but is similar enough to get you started.
Unlike pokemon yugioh doesn't have a rotation so you can play with any cards printed ever. There is a banlist though which restricts some cards that you can play to balance the game. In general decks are smaller than pokemon, between 40 and 60 cards (whereas its a flat 60 for pokemon), but 40 is generally recommended as it makes the decks better. And a playset of cards is 3 (unlike 4 in pokemon). Decks are generally made by archetype (cards that all have the same word in their name, for example marincess from chaos impact). There is also an extra deck, where you have 15 cards - this is where your fusions go, but also newer card types like synchro (white card frame), xyz (black card frame) and links (blue card frame). And a side deck, where you have 15 cards that you can swap into your deck between games (pokemon doesn't have siding). The game is too complex to explain here, but as I said playing duel links/watching some videos should help (I think a guy called Cimoooooooo on youtube has a series about this, but if not I'm sure you can look them up).
If you want a competitive deck the best/cheapest way will just be to buy 3 structure decks and buy a very limited number of cards to make them good. As I said earlier structure decks are normally competitive decks recently. One example is to buy 3 soulburner structure decks (23.55 on chaos cards) and then buy 3 salamangreat sunlight wolf (approximately 9.75 on ebay for the playset) and you have a decent competitive deck that can win you some games (you can also use the salamangreat pyro phoenix in this deck). You can easily make this better by buying some extra singles or 3 duel devestator (honestly id recommend buying singles from that still even if you are guaranteed the cards from it as you can skip on what you dont need and itll be cheaper). This deck has been hit by the banlist though and may potentially be hit more in the future making it less good.
As I said though yugioh is very complex so its much better to start online and with a simple deck, for example satellerknights or monarchs (those arent the best 2 just something i thought up of on the top of my head). In terms of building a deck there a vast number of "deck profiles" on youtube where people will showcase your deck and when your new you should basically just steal this as opposed to making your own.
In terms of playing irl, there are places called locals where normally there will be like a weekly tournament or something, I'm sure theres a few in london and you can find them on the official yugioh website. If you go there after getting some experience online im sure people will be pretty helpful with you in terms of tips for playing/getting you cards etc.
There's way more I can talk about but I hope I've hit everthing. No TL;DR as I can't really do one.
Do more Yu-Gi-Oh!!! Old school booster packs and boxes please!
Gets a secret rare and thinks it's worth 200+ xD.
i think he snuck the thumbnail of the video in one frame that comes at 12:54 - 12:55 . great video amazing pauls , pray 4 the pauls
randolph if u plan to do ths again please do yuh-gi-oh dual monsters instead because thats by far the best yuh-gi-oh
four rarities to watch for with yugioh. Common, Rare (silver name), Super Rare (Holo artwork), Ultra Rare (Holo artwork and gold name), and Secret Rare (Holo semi sparkly artwork and shiny name). The prismatic rare is a new kinda a special rare that is like 1 per 3 or so cases and you can tell it instantly. pretty sure it has texture to it too.
What website do you go on to know about your yugioh cards
Awesome unboxing !!!
Randy, you should tell us about your experiences back in the day with YuGiOh! And maybe find some older packs to open! And dude, if you have a good condition SDK Blue Eyes, that could go for at least £80-100 easy xD A Mint version can go for thousands lol
Randolph out here opening yugioh now, u should try playing duel links on steam or mobile
as always mans out here watching the whole vid
Dueling nexus is good aswell.
Just a few points from someone who plays the game:
The prismatic secret rares are somewhere around 1 in 24 boxes, so you probably wont pull any of them
Super rares are guaranteed in every pack and they are usualy worth nothing but you have a chance of getting an ultra rare or a secret rare insead of the super
Im now at the point where u pulled the pyro phoenix, i hope you figure it out till the end of the video
But that isnt the prismatic, its a regular secret rare
And u didnt figure it out xD
Basically
There are 4 prismatic secret rares in the set and they are special varriants of those 4 cards
You can still get the 4 cards in their regular rarity, like you did with Gorgone (super rare) and Pyro phoenix (secret rare)
Oooooooh okay I had no idea, thanks for letting me know! I only had tcgplayer to go off
@@RandolphPokemon all good man, i love the fact that youre interested in YGO
If you are serious about it, there are some amazing chanels here that do YGO content, openings, gameplay, meta reports and tournament analysis
I’m love watching u open yugioh
I don't think anyone collects the cards like with pokemon. The only cards that are worth much are playable or really old banned 1st edition cards that have a high rarity.
I was so happy to see this video pop up in my notifications
try and get the Zabe Truesdale packs! get the cyper dragons and cyper end dragon!
Let's gooooo, finally some Yu-Gi-Oh
If you want to get back into Yu-Gi-Oh I'd recommend playing Duel Links, it's speed duels and it's not as complicated as the new meta IMO.. Link Monsters and Pendulum are just a big nope for me
The only good thing they added was synchros because they felt like better ritual cards but after that it just went downhill.
I love yugioh cards and pokemon cards
Please do more Yu-Gi-Oh card openings because you’re my favourite pack opening UA-cam Channel but I’m A Yu-Gi-Oh fanboy
I know I’m late but that unchained abomination pull was super solid
yugiohs cards are so much nicer then pokemon hands down
The Salamangreat Pyro Phoenix you pulled is secret rare not Prismatic, it's worth £15 only
Oh this is top funny I just found my old LOB and early 2000s yugi cards!
Awesome! Been waiting for this
Your friend said the evil eye card was an ultra rare. It's only a super rare.
You should get the yu gi oh premium gold 2 packs... you will not regret it! If not PG2 then you should open a legendary decks box, theyre pretty cheap they have a lot of classic recognisable monsters
I'm keen for more Yu-Gi-Oh
Hey Randolph any chance you could open a Magic: The Gathering box!?
What website do you use to check yu gi oh cards
I pulled a starlight pyro phoenix on Monday from my first pack in the box. Selling on eBay currently for like $115
Please do more of these !
Yo Randolph I can help you with yugioh stuff my guy been playing for plenty of years if you have questions bro hmu
The pyro Phoenix is a normal secret not a prismatic
Depending on what sleeves your trying to get the size is classed as small or 1 size lower than Pokémon sleeves.
Open more if you can I enjoyed this aloot
It'll be nice to see more yugioh content
Can you do a schedule like 3 sword and shield vids,2 yugioh pack openings or games and 2 pokemon online tcg i think it would be excelent for your channels growth
randolph the salamangreat phoenix isn’t the £225 one it’s a secret rare not a prismatic secret rare
you can play a game called ygo pro online if you want to get back into it
you should deffinently open more yugioh packs! :D you should open some of the OG boxes though..retro. get that total feeling of nostalgia
Randolph, please do a Cardfight Vanguard TCG Booster Box pack opening
Please tell me your opening more Yu-gi-oh it’s like my childhood series I used to love it
your pyro phoenix is a secret rare, not prismatic secret rare. just look at the image on tcg player, it's clearly different.
Dude this pyro Phoenix is not prismatic it’s just normal secret rare. Prismatic secret rare is when all of the card is shiny you can check it on google
Need more of this soo interesting
im sorry to tell you this but that phoenix is not the prismatic one
Nice to see you got profit with some cool looking cards, don’t know anything about these cards tho
Can you do a yugioh card opening where we can buy packs.
That isn't a prismatic pyrophoenix worth 225 its just the regular secret rare version.
The reds aren’t doing so well Randolph but I don’t think we will get relegated
unbox savage strike it has some really good cards
see if you can get alegend of blue eye booster box very rare box but the blue eye dragon is very expensive if you pull it but hard to do so
FINALLY , PLAY YUGIOH MORE !
Randolph if the card has a silver name it is a rare card and if the art work of the card is shiny then it is a super rare and if the card name is gold and the art work is shiny then it is a ultra rare and if the card name is rainbow colored and shiny then it is a secret rare
if you genuinely want to get into yu-gi-oh again id be more than happy to help. there are a couple of rely good online dueling programs.
