@@Colin7768 you sure you dont need speedflip even in 1s ? my friend told me it's super easy to learn and they became super hard to counter in 1s I still feel like i should learn it
As someone who typically watches strictly for the strategy/gameplay this is a really good idea for Rocket League content. You guys are having fun and it's fun to watch. Also cool that you guys are staggering the videos on your two channels. It's just good all around. It might be cool to see you guys warmup for a few minutes in freeplay to get synced up. Or highlights of a warmup.
I love the honesty about it all as well. Taking on the challenge, no fucking around or training beforehand, just straight into it and uploading the results whether good or bad. I love shit like this.
Yeah dude, the losses make it very entertaining. Love Appjack and Retals but I do like to see pros suffer against diamonds lol. I'll be patiently waiting for the next iteration of #2pros1car. @@T3n50r
This is straight fun ! I'm also glad it allows 2 pros to realize the state ranks are at in this game at the moment. Yes these players are not smurfs, but there are so many GCs from D2 to C3 that almost no new player will have the courage to go through it. 2s is the same, GC tags all over the place from C1 to C3, former GCs got reset and are now stuck in elo hell, creating a wall that is so tough to climb for newer players.
I completely agree with this, I’ve been gc since season 5 and took a year long break, I used to be gc in 1s and now I can’t get out of c1 and c2 because every game I play is against high gcs
This is hilarious. Finally feels like two pros know what we are going through when having bad mechanics (of course they know this but still it feels oddly sattisfying). Will be fun to see where this series will lead us.
The rollercoaster of emotions in these videos with every goal is so jokes! If they score it’s SSL and if they concede the dream is over 😂 honestly I’m here for it
I love this series guys! I think it would be really helpful if you out the episode number in the thumbnail so it would be easier to track the series, if you can’t watch it immediately each time an episode comes out
I’m telling you. Directional air roll in order to speed flip. It fixes your timing problem since you can hold it while boosting and steering without it interfering.
I play on controller and also only speed flip with DAR. Just front flip and then hold the stick straight down while holding DAR. It's an instant speed flip. But surely Retals & Appjack don't need speed flips and should focus on other stuff first
Front flip cancel, huh? All the tutorials say it needs to be a diagonal flip cancel. I still have no idea if I can speedflip or not. Sometimes it's fast. Sometimes it's pure trash.@@peterjackoville4272
me personally I only have DAR binded because I find it easier to use and doesn t interfere with any of my controls as free air roll does. As a kbm player DAR is my go to and speedflips are easy with it
I love this series for two reasons. (1) You guys now understand our pain as intermediate players. (2) You guys show us that it is still possible to win against these guys with weak mechanics. Somehow you guys are finding ways to win with even worse mechanics than me. (Like I can defend an air dribble) So thank you guys for doing this series and keep doing it!
im excited for them to come back i think the obvious reason they struggled was that they recorded so many episodes on the same day it wears your brain out
Thx a lot for this series which is not only very entertaining, but also has given me a better understanding in the game. I started last year with rl as I was in search for games without any cheaters and play 90% 1s, primary as a way to be less annoying for my teammates as I don´t really have any mechs apart from hook shots (sniper..not) and sometimes a half flip. I got to diamond 1 quite fast but then there where so many "monsters" that it was frustrating, especially since I assumed that many of them are just degenerated smurfs which are in a way also cheaters. Understanding that many players just almost never play ones and they are not smurfs (in many cases) but could become just teachers helps my motivation to play. I also think kickoffs are the most important thing to rank higher as more than 50% even in d1 are doing it.
Hard but true. My 1s matches in plat 3 up to diamond 1 are so sweaty. Air dribble bumb becomes common and now I can clean half field air dribble bumbs with only 50 boost
22:07 "Kickoffs" says Retals with a British accent lol. Happens when you hear the accent around you all the time, and you don't even realize that you're doing it
This is the type of content i think everyone loves, plus its just a fun challenge, i think it would genuinely be cool if you tried to go beyond SSL when you do hit it. Also to extend the series and make it a bigger thing.
Could you somehow give Jack W+S, along with DAR on the mouse (on a mouse with lots of buttons) while Retals still has WASD and all of his current controls too? Maybe like that Jack could take over more meaningfully when timing is critical. Like that you could speed flip, and do basic jumps/aerials in a pretty controlled way albeit with the big limitation of not being able to turn left or right unless retals helps out (except where you can manage with DAR). Idk. Just a thought...
It must be hard for you pros to lose full stop. Let alone by diamond 1 players. Please don't lose heart as this series is absolutely amazing (As long as it's not actually affecting you, cuz retals looks deflated )
the fun in this is that ur frustrated too - look we want you to win, but the draw for this series is that you experience the frustration that we ourselves do in Diamond etc:)))
I have been around this 1v1 rank for years, mostly low champ 1 while being GC since OG season 12. I'm not a 1v1 player however there are a lot of low GC players in Diamond 3 and champ 1. They just don't have the 1v1 tactics.
not sure this works in D3 but i always counter speedflips with a fairly early jump and flip forward into the ball on kickoffs. basically like a delayed kickoff but just cause im slower to the ball. You guys should try it as a changeup at least
Yeah, I experience this so much. I'm d2 in 2's, 3's, and 1's. Almost every game in 1's, I'm playing either champs or gcs. It's chaos because it's not actually diamonds.
1. Learn to speedflip 2. Learn to aerial 3. Create a common language 4. Learn to comm what you do before you do it to each other using the common language from 3 5. Maybe find stuff you do well and capitalize on it
While the 2nd guy i feel like was not common in diamond 3 speed flipping is common and generally everyone has a specialty whether it is playing fast, defense, recoveries, flicking, challenges/50's, etc that got them to that rank
Jack, I am d1-d2 in 1s and c1 in 2s. Yes, ranked diamond is all champ and low gcs. No shade, but mostly any season 12 gc is probably a c1 c2 max. The ceiling of people growing in the game is huge , and higher ranks are dropping to lower ranks because of it. I've saved a couple of replays to see what i can do better to improve because i constantly get gcs in my rank 1s matches.
That middle game is pretty much the scene in 1v1, yes. Really annoying that Champ 1-2 in the other modes are basically Diamond 2-3 in 1v1. They need to align the rating curve in 1v1 and extra modes.
You guys could maybe try to have Retals steer and stuff on a controller? And then have Jack boosting and jumping with the mouse. I tried it with a friend and it actually works kinda well!
You were laughing at yourselves at the end but as a D2 in 1s I actually learnt how cracked drive challenges are by watching these videos. I've watched your 1v1s for a long time but for some reason I only realised their power only when I watched this series
I am currently diamond 3. In a single session like within a half hour i would consistently see someone who can flip reset and do a lot of other mechanical plays consistently. But the skill difference in diamond 3 is insane. Makes 0 sense but i think some are just more mechanical than others. Personally i cant flip reset or do much of anything i just play smart and half the time i miss open nets but im still diamond 3 lol
You guys should get a mouse with some buttons on the side and map ball-cam, and any other buttons to split it up more. Maybe that's helpful? Love the content!
What if you gave pitch up and pitch down to the player controlling boost and jump too. It would be much easier to flip and/or double-jump aerial. Maybe that would make it too easy for the purposes of this series which is hilarious.
JACK AND RETALS, on kbm, you can use the small mouse buttons to look right and left, its not as good as right stic on controller but it helps a little, please like so they can see
I would love to see, when doing this. And people become toxic that 1 of you takes the handle en destroys the toxic one! As always great content! Keep it up you 2❤
Its so great to see tgat u dont nees crazy/any mechanics to get to diamond3-champ1 in ones. Probably even higher if just one person wirh your knowledge played. You motivated me to start playing ones much more frequently, akthough i dropped from d2div3 to d1div1 after Christmas somehow.
