I saw this at the Moore Overland Expo in Springfield, MO and definitely like the form factor. Chatted with the folks a bit about it. We laughed that they were using meters and centimeters when I asked about the measurements. Since the Springfield Expo was their 1st one in the US, I gave them the advice to find out what they measurements were in feet and inches and they would have much fewer blank stares. They looked at each other and said, yeah, that is probably a good idea. The engineering is definitely on point and they showed me pictures of this tent on top of very small vehicles as small as a mini cooper which carried it with ease. I think they will do great in the US market.
Cool! I don't really like roof top tents because they are on the roof. However, I could see mounting this on a low trailer so that acts like a pop up. That way I could use my trailer as a normal trailer and put the tent on it for camping.
Since the structure is aluminum, it would be nice if the put a number of t-slot channels into it. These would be great to attach things to such as solar panels, traction mats, and also for when it is flipped down, so you could hang some things such as soft sided shelving, shoe bag, trash bag, etc.
Interesting tent, living in the northeast my thoughts are with, "if its raining, how long will it take to set up" nice trailer though ...I have a Pando, love it.
Hmm I don’t know. When I first started hearing about this tent and looking at it a bit closer I was initially like, “heck yeah can finally get rid of my RN condor generation 1, but after watching this I’m not so sure about some of the design features. First of all the side windows, you have no protection from side rain if you want to keep the awning open for air flow, having to stow and pack and unpack/attach ladder is kind of annoying, the zip up front awning sides is another step also. When I use my RN Condor XL I like that you can open the sky lights and the way the front awning is designed you can get air flow up and under the awning and in to the skylight without having to get rained on. You can keep the side awnings up and open for my ventilation in the night. That tent already doesn’t manage condensation very well with what I consider to be max be ventilation given all of the open window options. The roof space doesn’t seem to offer much for ventilation if you run into any kind of weather. I also didn’t like how long it took you to pack that thing away, that seems way slower for me. Part of the appeal is quick and easy set up. I think would appeal to me most when I first heard about it was the design, the weight, and the slim dimensions. It seemed like a great alternative, but now I wonder. I have taken some steps with my roof nest condor to address, a few quality and I think it will stand some more torture for another few solid years. I know your aluminum shell version wasn’t great and the threads are full of quips about the RN but I feel Lin this case the roof space is unique, German designed seems to be of quality but function I’m not sure. At any rate, great review best one I’ve seen in this new to the market tent. My guess is it will also retail around that $6000 mark which is awhile other conversation. Briefly I think we’ve all been hood-winked into thinking these dam tents are worth anywhere near that. It’s wild. Anyhow. ✌🏻 from the east coast, Canada.
This would be kinda gimmicky, but maybe they could toss a light bar in the end cap. The way you stowed on the underside of the floor might work good as a kitchen lamp..
Why wouldn't they just make the awning for the window with the screen. So if you put the cover out for the window have a screen already on there. But if course make it so you could unzip it, but then you wouldn't have to undue the screen to zip up the wall.
Sorry, still not sure what benefit there is of the self supporting floor. If I'm taking off the ladder when I'm not in there then I'm packing away and there is no fricking way I'm taking off the ladder while I'm up there!
Dude - your logic on the screen part of the door is super hard to follow. I tried for two videos now. It doesn't even make sense. Make the screen part of the door?
Yes. The Alu-Cab does it. The door is 1 zipper for getting in and out. If you want a window open, you unzip the window on the door which has mesh on the outside. When you are going in and out of the tent, you only need to undo one zipper, as the mesh/window is part of the door.
@@Casey250 I agree with you Casey there are plenty of ground tents that have the screen built into the door/window, I don't know why this concept is so hard to grasp for RTT makers.
Although this is a good designed tent and sold in the U.S. I feel that we are letting our people down by purchasing another item so expensive from Communist China instead of helping our local citizens with work / jobs to grow our U.S economy. This is my reason for the Thumbs down. I and my family will no longer support companies who have their items built in other foreign countries that don’t support our U.S Citizens or the U.S Allie’s. But My U.S Family / Relatives will come first to make sure that they have a reliable roof over them and their children’s heads with Food, water, and electricity and be healthy with Our Lord God watching and protecting over them. NO MORE Burning Our U.S Flags and NO MORE STARVING, DRUG INDUCED AMERICAN FAMILY OR RELATIVES. God Bless America and Her Children.
We can understand you but so far we have created four jobs in the US that weren't there before and we are growing and planning to create more jobs in the coming months.
Apparently you have never setup a soft shell tent before. The only tent easier to setup than this tent would be something like a wedge style tent which is not in the same class as this tent. If you need the tent to fit in a smaller space a wedge tent is not always an option.

Thanks for sharing Casey, glad you like it! Just wanted to let you know that it does in fact have a few ports for heater and AC hoses!
How did I miss those?

thanks for showing me this tent at Overland Expo Casey! It's an incredible tent.
Thanks for making me look bad at doing pull-ups 🤣🤣🤣

Hey Casey that was a great review.
Feedback from someone who used it was perfect. Thanks
Epic review Casey, can't wait to get my hands on one soon and try it out in the wild

You should do more reviews, that was a fantastic indepth review.
Thanks. I really enjoy doing the reviews.

Setup takes 30 seconds :)

Hmm put some leds in the end cap for the tent and can be a light.
Watching all these videos about rooftop tents and thinking, these would be good for a tree house somewhere.
It's like a mobile tree house you take to new locations.
Nice off grid. I have one as well. Might have to look into this rooftop tent.
Crua Aer Maxx is fantastic.
I wish they'd offer the Roof Space 4 here in the US. It is listed on their German site.
I hear it's on the way
Do you think there's any chance of water penetration at the bottom of the door where the zipper flap seems to create a lip where water could pool?
I don't think so, the creators have done a lot of testing with these.
This would be kinda gimmicky, but maybe they could toss a light bar in the end cap. The way you stowed on the underside of the floor might work good as a kitchen lamp..
That would be awesome!
With the way the mattress folds over on top of itself, can you leave a mattress topper in the tent when you fold it up?
Yes you can :)

Look awesome my Question is: Can i close it with my bedding in side ?
You can put some in. Not sure about pillows though.
If you get the chance could you see who might have the Rokk overland Ovrland RTT? Would like to see a review of that! Thank you!
I'll check it out. Appreciate the suggestion
If you have a flip up cover on your bed that folds in 4 pieces, would you still be able to use this on a truck?
Depends more on the rack I'd imagine.
What's it like to sleep in when it's very windy?
Nice review

If the ground is muddy then the self supporting floor is a great feature compared to classic folding tents.
😍😍
12 each
It’s going to be hot and stuffy without the roof and backside open up
Cost ?
There's a link in the description. The prices always change on products so I provide a link rather then be out of date in videos.

You can go to prison for life messing with a mini 14.😮
Looks over hyped and over priced to me. The FSR High Country v2 Mini appears superior in many ways, especially value.
LOL the FSR is NOT superior in any way at all...

Looks like a huge pita to setup. That's a hard pass
