Great video bro, I was a corps member with the C's in Camarillo California. I gained a lot of experience that I used to get a job working for the city of L.A.
I joined CCC in 1989 not knowing a whole lot about it. I was living in Humboldt County at the time, not a lot going and just 18, I wasn't ready for school, not really ready for anything after being a class clown in high school. I applied and was accepted, promptly shipped off to the training center in San Luis Obispo. A few weeks later I was shipped to the Tahoe center and began my life's journey. I had great resources and counseling, so many good things that came from the CCC. I would highly recommend this program AND sticking to it if any part of this story matches your young life. Ill just say, It ultimately led to the career of my life!
I retired from heavy construction after 20 years and now enjoy the forest and trails we planted and developed. I also have used my knowledge to share and enlighten, and encourage anyone to use this path if they feel the need to give.

Original CCC member project 201 mckinleyville CA doing stream clearance. Was one of the original CCC backcountry trail crew members and finished my time with the CCC at the Greenwood solar center above Auburn California. We only got paid $320.00 back in 79-80 . Unforgettable memories being a part of all three spike programs. I ended up helping set up the New Zealand and Australian versions of the CCC in their country , then worked for the Calif Dept of Fish and game.
Interview is tomorrow, I’m nervous af. Funnily enough I wasn’t this nervous on my first tours while I was in the military. I’m just worried that things will be different cause if Covid. Planning on being sent to Tahoe.
You pay for laundry. Hell I had to do my own laundry! The time is about the same however. We were back at the Center between 1530 and 1600. Once you got back. It was time to do tool maintenance ( cleaning, sharping, and putting a light coat of oil on the tools to help from rust) and wash and prep the CCV for the next day! And we have to write in a Journal everyday ( about anything , some people wrote songs, poetry, short story’s or what happen that day! Yes they do read them and give you feed back
dude I can never forget comet especially on either my 2nd or last day of comet when one of my comet brothers said some racist comments against African Americans and got fired.

I was at butte fire center for 2 year. The hourly wage was going up in California, not for the crews at the time. We signed a stipend. So we continued to get paid $11.50 a hour and overtime on out of county fires was ridiculously taxed. My largest OT check was for $5900. Taxes left me with $2800. Not complaining though cause I still stayed. Hard work, low pay, miserable conditions, and more right?

Hey Mien Zerker! Yes, CCC is a place where you can get can an education and get paid too! I'm glad to hear that you want to change your life around and grow as a person. The first step is realizing and wanting to do better. You'll meet some cool people here, and learn a lot of skills. The C's gave me a lot of confidence and I accomplished things I didn't think I was capable of. If you're going to play video games, at least try to make money doing so. Make UA-cam videos or Stream it my friend.

Chiming in if you don’t mind Mien Zerker. The CCC will change your life ONLY IF YOU ALLOW IT TO, like it changed mine. I was living off my Parents, no real job, broke, no car, waking up whenever I felt like it, low self esteem, low motivation, depressed, wasn’t used to working, etc. Joining the CCC redirected my life first with changing my mentality and daily routine. It’s proven that habits are created when you repeat a particular action daily (or almost daily) for two months (many times much earlier than that), then it becomes a habit. For me it was waking up early and going to work everyday became a habit and really changed my mentality to start. After a few weeks my mindset changed that going to work was now something I do regularly like brushing my teeth. Something you don’t think about, you just do it. That is just one example of many that the C’s did for me. I spent 10 years of my life with the CCC starting out a Corpsmember working my way up to become staff as a Conservationist 1(Crew Supervisor). Today I am an Analyst for the State of California with over 20 years State experience all because The foundation the CCC instilled in me. They have a date they pay. Believe it was the 10th. If you start any time past that you should expect to not be paid for days you were not employed or present. The following check should be in full.

Paid in full, there is a deductible that covers cost of living, but you will be left with 1400+. Can not give you a accurate number since taxes and dependents are variables.

The only way to come back after 25 is if you come back as a C1 (conservationist 1/supervisor) or higher. Gotta get certs, class B license, etc. I've considered it.

Yes. If you Join their fire program, which only certain centers in California offer. During fire season when you guys are out there helping firefighters, you make connections and network with people. The experience is good too
No, you can request certain jobs but theres no guarantee you'll be doing that work. Expect to be doing field work, like landscaping, using power tools, grade, and spike. Only a select few get to work on center. As far as fire crew, you have to pass the tests. Theres the educational part, then the physical requirements. Those that pass the educational part are still not guaranteed a spot on fire crew. They choose who gets to be on the crew based on attitude. When you pass the educational part, then comes the physical. More people either drop out or get eliminated. It's not for the faint of heart. Everybody thinks they'll be on fire crew, and some people will swear they were chosen even before the actual list comes out. Stay focused...cheers
Tajahnique Trice you take the drug test during comet. You’ll know the same day if you pass, and if you do, you get hired the same day. The drug test you take are the cheap dollar store ones lol! Give me a week and I’ll do a full video about the drug test
if you go to a non residential center, you would only work during the day, then go back to your own home after work. for residential centers, you work, eat, sleep, and live here. the money automatically comes out of your check. You won't know it's missing.

Aren't the first paychecks low depending on when we start on the pay period? They mention that alot in the memos when you first start the CCC.
I heard that they change the pay system and amount but yes, expect your first paycheck to be a little less.
