Yes. His beautiful daughter who is a fantastic actress. Incredible. Tarzan is a classic especially for his music.
You will absolutely Disney's Tarzan. My son is 24 now.. damn I'm 45 lol.. anyways. He loved the movie so much when he was little and I bought the Tarzan soundtrack - the entire soundtrack is SOOO GOOD!
The song Son of Man from this same soundtrack is JUST as good as this, although it's a lot more high energy. It's a great uplifting song about just being the best version of what YOU want to be, not what other people thing you should be.
There is a great video about the making of this song for Tarzan with the lead guitarist, Tim Pierce. It is very entertaining and well worth finding. Collins could do transitions like no other artist.
He did a great job on the whole Tarzan soundtrack. Not one bad note on the album. I was surprised to see his collaboration with Bone Thugs n Harmony on the song “Home” mainly the two genres mixing but it’s amazing. If you get a chance check it out. They blend their styles perfectly.
This was the song my son and I danced to at his wedding. Halfway through the song he called my ex mother in law (she did not know he was doing this) over to dance with him and then he called me back over and the 3 of us danced together. It was a very moving moment, it brought my son to tears. I wonder how my youngest son will top that.
Anton, this song was my mother/son dance at my wedding almost 8 years ago. It’s a love song, but I interpreted the lyrics as a son to his mother saying even though I won’t be there all the time, I’ve always got my Mom no matter what
Came back. When you see Tarzan and the context, this song will mean even more. Think you 'got it' but the movie will confirm deeply the message and will beautifully rip your heart out.
Phil's drumming 'swings' in a subtle way, an almost 'big band' way. He grew up on R&B, but also big band music and idolized jazz drummer Buddy Rich. This may be why he started his own big band in the late 90s. A different side of Phil. They cover 'Pick Up The Pieces' by Average White Band and nail it. Check it out even if you don't react to it. Amazing instrumental solos.

I sang this song to my nieces when they were babies and started crying. They would stop and start to smile. Its how I feel about them.

Nice video and of course a great song. They don't award an Oscar for average. I love how Phil takes a serious or sweet lyric and adds something to give it a little twist so it doesn't get too saccharine or too serious. This happens with Genesis also. Then, as Collins stares at the camera so seriously, he breaks the trance with that little popcorn smile at the end. Nuanced. Authentic.
(plus this lullaby works so well in the movie and also as a separate song) Phil Collins wrote several songs 'for' his kids (but usually only tells them).

For me as a 22 year old, Phil Collins is top 3 of all time. This man is/was hit making machine. Everybody is always talking about In The Air Tonight, Another day in Paradise but he made so many good songs like Easy Lover, I dont care anymore, I wish it would rain down, One more night, Do you remember, Can't stop loving you and many many more. Not even mentioning his time at Genesis. Luckily I went to his concert in 2019 with my father. Not the Phil as it used to be because of his health but damn the man can still sing!

But today, on what would have been my Mom's 92nd birthday, the lyrics have me thinking of her, especially during the split screen scenes with two people appearing to hold hands across time. I love you, Mom. You are always in my heart.

Well, what you said about Orianne is correct, but that is NOT her. He has not had good luck in love. If you want to see Jill, his second wife, she plays a part in his segment 'Phil the Shill' from Miami Vice season 2. She is the tallish blond in the cranberry-colored dress w/ the large heart-shaped earring. She's in a couple scenes (only one speaking part). Phil is GREAT!
If you like, 'sensitive, soft Phil', you should have a listen to, 'Father To Son', or, 'Come With Me.' Another couple of songs he wrote for his kids.
I kinda agree about what you said about bridge.. Most of recent songs are verse 1-chorus-verse 2-chorus-ending.. For me, It's too quick to end.. Yes, it's a catchy chorus, but that's it.. Sometimes I don't feel anything again..

You should listen to his song “No Way Out” from Brother Bear. The film’s not that good in my opinion, but the songs are freaking great!!
Even though this isn't the film edit of the song, it's still very Phil! He changed it ever-so-slightly and made it more of a Phil Collins single!
Check out Phil's work with Brand X. It is his best drum work (he actually tells us that in an interview) PS Collins does NOT play guitar. When he does, it is through a keyboard! (he discusses this too)
