In the last guys form review, you mentioned about elbows slightly high, whereas all coaches in SS videos talk about elbows down. Was that elbow high specific to that lifter or you advise to everyone?
Great question. So, what I'm referring to at the 52:43 mark is lifting the elbows enough to create a stable shelf for the bar and get the upper back locked and tight. To do that, you extend the thoracic spine (puff the chest up) and then, WITH THE CHEST UP, lift the elbows as high as they'll go. If you do this correctly (keeping the upper back arched and the chest up), the elbows will only be able to move about an inch or two. The common error that other coaches are referring to involves lifting the elbows while allowing the upper back to round and the chest to cave. If you do that, the elbows will move up a lot more than one or two inches, and you'll dump the bar up on your neck. I actually just discussed this error in the latest episode: ua-cam.com/video/PDWgb9pCmjc/v-deo.htmlsi=zuFRRZsNI_dhMwGb&t=2087 Thanks for the question. Hope this helps!
What reddit thread are you referring to about the thumbs around grip? I found several mentioning it briefly but can't find the one with a lot of detail. Is there any chance you have a video on this? New to the channel and reddit page. I really enjoy it so far.
I will definitely do a video on this when I'm back home. In the meantime, here's the thread I was thinking of: www.reddit.com/r/hornstrength/comments/18c2ez6/thumbs/ Thanks for watching. Glad you found us!
Prayers for Andrea. Hope all goes well, stay strong.
Thank you!
Sending prayers to you and your family Paul. Thabks for doing these FCF's
Much appreciated
