Pelant is really trying to throw a wrench in this whole "B&B together -- forever" thing. First, he frames Brennan, then he guilts Booth. While Brennan was a fugitive, Booth missed out on 3 months with Brennan and his daughter, Christine.
Brennan has now missed out on planning the wedding (she never knew she wanted) for reasons unknown to her. We of course know the reason for Booth calling off the wedding is Pelant's threat. Despite Pelant's efforts to break up a happy home, Booth and Brennan still love each other to no end. And that ain't gonna change ; )
