In Scrum, capacity and velocity are vital concepts for measuring and managing a Scrum Team's work. Capacity, representing the total workload the team can handle in a sprint, is determined by the team's availability, often expressed in story points or hours. On the other hand, velocity serves as a metric to measure the team's historical performance and is calculated by summing up completed user stories or tasks in a sprint. The key distinctions lie in their focus, calculation methods, and purposes: capacity focuses on available resources for a sprint, calculated based on availability, and aids in planning; velocity focuses on work delivered based on historical performance, aiding in predicting future sprints and understanding sustainable pace. Both concepts evolve over time and play crucial roles in guiding the team during sprint planning, ensuring realistic goals, and fostering continuous improvement in commitment. Thanks for the video.
