    Hi, as a black person, most of us prefer to be called Black or African American when it is priorly established that we are. "A person of color" is cool when speaking more broadly, but it was established earlier that the coworker was Black.

    5:25 Shouldn't the boss' behaviour be reported too if it so happens that he adopts a harsh behavior with every employee ? He might not be discriminating one person in particular, but treating others harshly can affect the work environment...

      Hello Sophie, thanks for your comment. If you gather enough info to see that he treats everyone with disrespect, you can file a complaint to HR. However, remember to not jump to conclusions and stay non-judgmental.

    Since other members in the office have noticed the behavior would it not make more sense to conclude that the other workers are not being treated the same way as the POC worker? Rather than attempting to investigate if other people are indeed being treated harshly?

      @BeMoAcademicConsulting  2 роки тому

      Hello Emily! Thanks for your comment. The point here is to demonstrate that you want to gather as much information about the situation as possible. The evaluator needs to see that you are taking action to collect the information.

    I thought the second question "what SHOULD you do" we have to answer what is our responsibility as a co-worker (not invading personal privacy) and/or as a citizen under the law (discrimination is not allowed)

      Hello Rein, thanks for your comment. Yes, that's right. You can approach this question from these angles.

    You mentioned that since all 3 questions related to the scenario that we didn't have to answer them all. Would this not be the case if one of the questions was asking about a personal example. So if 2 questions were about the scenario and the third was asking for a time in your life you experienced something similar should we prioritize answering one of the scenario questions and the personal question or does the same logic apply as they just mark you on the overall answer and we don't have to answer all 3 to get full marks

      Hello Juli! Thanks so much for your wonderful question! Firstly, we always encourage you to answer all 3 questions, as long as the quality is not sacrificed. It does happen that all 3 follow up questions are from different categories. One can be scenario question, one can be policy, and one can be personal. It would be very difficult to provide only 1 answer that would address each question. In the case you describe, where 2 are scenario and 1 is personal, we strongly encourage you to address all three, but if it's impossible, then try to cover the 2 scenario follow up questions with 1 strong answer that addresses both scenario questions and 1 personal, since you are directly asked to speak from experience. I hope this helps and let me know if I can help with anything else!

    Hey there! I got a quick question about quartile scores. So I received my results about 2 days ago and I got into the 4th quartile. That means I placed far ahead of the mean score of test-takers right?

    • @BeMoAcademicConsulting
      @BeMoAcademicConsulting  2 роки тому

      Hello Jaedyn! Thanks for your question. Yes, that's right. But it does not indicate how the school views your results.

      @@BeMoAcademicConsulting Okay I see. And schools are only receiving our own score, not the average score right?

    • @BeMoAcademicConsulting
      @BeMoAcademicConsulting  2 роки тому +1

      The schools receive z-scores. Just like a quartiles score, a z-score tells the schools where your score stands in comparison to all CASPer takers that took the test on the same day and time as you. The z-score shows how many “points” you are away from the mean score, i.e., where you are in the distribution of scores across all candidates.

      @@BeMoAcademicConsulting Oh okay, so does that mean that being in the top quartile on my test day mean ill for sure have a higher z score than those who placed in lower quartiles on other test dates?

    • @BeMoAcademicConsulting
      @BeMoAcademicConsulting  2 роки тому

      Hi Jaedyn! No, the z-score simply shows where you stand statistically in comparison to other test-takers that took the test at the same time and day as you.

      Hello Alpha! Thanks for your comment! The example answers here are supposed to demonstrate the logic and strategy behind structuring your answers. Remember that your answers do not have to be this long to get a great score, as long as you stick to the structure! Let us know if we can help in any other way!

    i kind of don't agree with these responses? if the boss concedes that he is discriminating against an employee on the basis of race, it bears reporting to higher authorities in the company regardless of whether or not he "agrees" to change his behavior

    • @BeMoAcademicConsulting
      @BeMoAcademicConsulting  11 місяців тому

      Good point! You can definitely include a follow-up with authorities in your answer.

    Using harsh behaviour to encourage optimal performance, be it for only one person or all employees, is not ok by any professional standards. I think this needs to be more clearly mentioned in the answer to the first question.
    Also in the answer to the second question, the part where it says 'if she feels he treats her well, then there is nothing further to investigate' is quite shocking to me. I can think of several situations where there would be more to investigate (e.g. she seems scared or unwilling to share further details, she has been forced to say he treats her well, there are consequences to her admitting his abusive/discriminatory behavior, etc.).
