He was a treasure. He always felt to me like a (very talented) friend, warm and cozy. That's my joy.

Saw him 4 different times in concert, in four different types of venues. He was magic on stage. Very intimate feeling.

@@gregoryduncan3067 The first time was in Houston in 1982 at a venue called the Arena Theatre. It wasn't a huge hall, and the round stage was in the center. It rotated so every seat had a great view of the stage. The last time I got to see him was in 1993 at an outdoor venue in KC. He had such chemistry with the audience.

You have no idea how many 1000's of times I have listened to this great song from "Sundown." I bought the LP as a senior in high school, about the time this episode aired. I loved his folk-rock sensibility and the way he used acoustic guitars to complement his voice and drive the rhythm. His songs are pure poetry, and I would have taken up his invitation to be on the "list."

never thought I'd see and hear Gordon Lightfoot perform one of my favorite songs of all time, LIVE! By God, he is hypnotic,.I can/'t stop staring into those honey brown eyes. I hate moustaches! But he's the exception. His hippie/Greek God period lol I was too young in the seventies to appreciate Gordon during that first go around of his. But, in the mid-eighties my mom began to wonder where her collection of Gordon Lightfoot records was disappearing to-to-which judging from the distant GL music she heard, was my bedroom. lol I played this song over and over and over, lost in exuberance, total lack of inhibition, AWARE of the meaning of The List. Wishing it was 10 years earlier, that I was 18 with my own list to exchange with him. Without an ounce of guilt : )

@@harlowrioux5790 Yes, I would have been one to want to "fill it in." Have you seen the documentary done a couple of years ago in Canada (CBC I think)? It's a bit hard to find, but worth a watch. It's called "If You Could Read My Mind." I used to love his chambray look with sandals. Once, in the 1990s I saw him in an outdoor concert. He had a simple tee shirt, jeans and boots. It seemed to fit him better than when I saw him in the 80's with rhinestones and sparkles. He was such a great performer with a real connection to his audience.

The Sundown album is stellar like all His albums; I bought it in 1974, for five bucks when I was 14❤😊

We need a movie made about him. Chris Pratt plays 1966-1983 Lightfoot, Bryan Cranston plays 1984-2010, and idk about the last 13 years

Close. Chris Pratt: young Lightfoot 1958-1980, Bryan Cranston: middle-aged Lightfoot 1981-1993, Bill Nighy: elderly Lightfoot 1994-2018.

I just read that the church mentioned in “Edmund Fitzgerald” - I think it’s in Detroit perhaps - rang their bell 30 times when Gordon Lightfoot died in I think May of 2023. 29 times for the souls lost at sea and one for Gordon. (Naturally that’s one of my favorite songs.)

Didn't need any drums did they? Gord on 12 string, Terry picking and Rich playing bass were rich and full. I would have tried to talk him out of the turquoise cuff he had on. He He.

I tried playing a steel-string 12-string guitar before. It’ll make your fingers bleed - seriously. But I’ve always been a Gordon Lightfoot fan as he was one of the best singer-songwriters in the 70s. And that was probably my favorite music era. Unfortunately I believe Gordon died in 2023. RIP GL.

The only time I don’t like Gordon Lightfoot is when he stops playing.
