For those that don't know: A service dog (SD), emotional support animals (ESA), and therapy animals are all different and are NOT the same thing. *Service Dog* SDs are the ONLY one that have access rights; meaning, you can take it ANYWHERE. You can take a SD to any public place, on any form of public transportation, and they can live with you anywhere (even places that don't typically allow pets) because SDs are not considered pets but are rather considered medical equipment. SDs must go through extensive training and must be well-trained, well-behaved, and obedient. The only animals that can be service animals are dogs and, in some places, miniature horses. Along with basic obedience training, SDs must also be tasked trained in three tasks that help their handler's disability ("they make me calm" is NOT being task trained). If you ever go to the store and see a dog riding in a shopping cart while their person pushes the cart, it is a FAKE service dog. If you ever go out and see the dog lunging at people and barking at people, it is a FAKE service dog. If you're ever out and see a dog acting aggressive, it is a FAKE service dog. Please remember that a SD can be for physical or mental disabilities, and that many disabilities are "invisible" disabilities; meaning, you can't outwardly tell that the person is disabled (think PTSD, siezures, etc.). So, for SD handler's, don't judge a book by it's cover--just because they don't "look" disabled doesn't mean they aren't. *Emotional Support Animal* ESAs do NOT have public access rights; meaning, they are NOT allowed in public areas that typically don't allow pets. ESAs aren't allowed in the grocery store (unless the store allows pets), ESAs aren't allowed in restaurants (unless the restaurant allows pets), ESAs aren't allowed at school, etc. The only places ESAs are only allowed in housing (even housing that typically doesn't allow animals) and on planes with their owners. While there are no real rules for taking an ESA on a plane, PLEASE make sure that the animals is well-behaved, obedient, and have basic training; they should NOT be loud, aggressive, running all over the place, etc. *Therapy Animal* Therapy animals are only allowed where they allowed as therapy animals. They do not get access rights to areas where they aren't working, and they do not get to live in non-pet friendly housing. They should be calm, obedient, and well-trained. You don't think that veteran also receives emotional support from knowing his service animal is with him to help him, above and beyond any physical help the animal provides? Having your stomach ripped to shreds from mortar fire, doesn't merely affect you physically, but is psychologically traumatizing to the soldier. BOTH psychological and physical disabilities need to be respected.
Okay so while I generally agree it's lame to do this, it's also a symptom of people not trusting airlines with their pets in the cargo hold, and for good reason. The cargo hold is cold, loud, and alien and lots of animals are traumatized or straight up die in transit. If airlines made more effort to ensure safe transit for pets, i bet these kinds of dubious service animal registrations would go down.
yup. i am 1000% against people taking their support pets places like grocery stores and restaurants because it effects how people with service dogs are treated... but god damn it if you need to fly with your small pet (i dont give a fuck what it is) go ahead and claim it is a support animal even if it is not. because if you dont keep it in the cabin with you, and sometimes even if you do, your pet will fucking die. airlines are deadly for pets.
If you REALLY cared about your pets you wouldn't bring them anywhere they'd have to be on an airplane to get to, this is why professional boarding facilities exist.
@@jackmeriustacktheritrix what about people who move cross country? or people who will be out of state for a few months? asking someone to board their pet for 3 months is like asking someone to hire a babysitter for 3 months. just because they wont pay that ridiculous expense doesnt mean they dont love thier baby. not everyone has an endless supply of money.
If you're just moving cross country then drive, if you live the type of life where you're regularly gone for months at a time and can't afford to have a friend/family member come check in on your pet, then maybe you shouldn't have a pet in the first place. I used to work as a veterinary assistant at a veterinary clinic that also did boarding and people do board their pets for a couple months at a time occasionally. Think about what your life currently entails BEFORE getting a pet, if you move long distances frequently or have a job that requires long trips then sorry but you getting a pet is just selfish. The problem is people don't realize the ACTUAL expense of properly caring for a pet, they think it only entails food/litter and maybe the odd vet visit. I've had dogs and cats my entire life and would never even contemplate bringing them on a plane even if it meant i couldn't go away for vacations, jobs etc.
@@jackmeriustacktheritrix thats so classist tho. ive had my dogs for 13 and 12 years and they have never gone without anything, but i considered moving recently to be closer to family and would have either had to spend a day flying there or rent a car to drive a full week. that would cost 3x as much and take 7x as long. not to mention put my dogs under most stress because they would habe been trapped in a car for 8 hours a day and in a new hotel room every night. and the thought of "well if you cant afford a doggy hotel then just have a friend check in on them" is NOT good pet care jfc. you of all people should know that. i would never want to fly with my pets, but you cant say "you shouldnt habe gotten a pet" just because some people HAVE TO. you cant just say "we dont get a dog if you ever plan on moving in your life" that is not reasonable.
I had some anxiety issues. I went to the animal rescue to find a cute dog that could maybe help and comfort me. When I got it home, my anxiety levels tripled. I realized I had to feed it , take it for walks and look after it's every f**king need. Oh...the STRESS of it all!
My dog is judgemental, and looks at me very critically. She enjoys employing guilt tripping tactics in order to make me do things I really don't want to do.
If the animals can be taken care properly in the cargo area, it should not have so much trouble! However, many pets died in the airplane! Desperate solutions to claim they are emotional support animals
And what about people who are frightened of dogs? I guess they just have to suck it up and suffer while their worst nightmare soothes the nerves of the person next to them.
Very interesting episode, but about 15 years too late in the hotel industry. The issue lies with judges that have actually ruled in favor of "emotional support" animal owners (versus legitimate service animals), mainly because this ADA act was passed without any federal organization to determine if an animal is a legitimate service animal or not. Basically, it is illegal to deny service anyone that just CLAIMS an animal to be a support animal, with absolutely no way of proving or disproving the legitimacy of the animal. So, for the past 15 years, I have had guests with "service animals" ranging from monkeys to snakes. And they are very defensive about it, almost daring the employee to deny them so they can cash in on a guaranteed lawsuit. This issue will not go away until either a federal organization is created to determine the legitimacy of "service animals" versus "emotional support" animals, or judges stop ruling in favor of illegitimate service animal owners.
People don’t even understand jokes. He wasn’t throwing jokes at the ex marine, he was actually supporting his legitimate need of the support animal. You need to open your minds to jokes drenched with sarcasm.
Adam Nowek no he didn’t really go into it much. He only talked about the marine, he didn’t talk about other issues that people might have (emotional ones). That being said, this is a comedy show, not the news, so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal
Peacocks are basically large, fancy chickens with a scream to wake the dead. They're beautiful, loud, and equipped with flappy wings and sharp claws/beak
Ronin Master yea where I work there are wild peacocks (thanks asshole millionaire 100 years ago who just released 6 peafowl onto his land). People act like they are cute dogs and run at them and get cut the fuck up with those claws.
A "Guide dog" is a service dog that guides the blind and visually impaired. I have one and he helps me find doors, chairs, our car, curbs, signs that might be blocking the sidewalk, etc. He has gone through extensive training since he was a puppy to make him the best that he can be.

I do actually have a support animal who is fully trained to respond to panic attacks and alert when I am in immediate threat of self harm. She is also trained to remind me to take medication. She has been trained from a very young age and also does comfort and outreach with others, especially young children with social anxiety. It sounds stupid and crazy, but she has done a lot of good. And she's a guinea pig...
Hotels arent allowed to only offer you certain rooms. They have to allow you to stay in any room open to anyone else. Unless you mean you needed a room on a certain level because of lack of elevators or something.
Tisk Tisk this is not the first time this has happened to me though. It’s a recurring thing. I have to book in advance and call to confirm. I can’t just go in. People with the emotional support dogs keep taking the real handicap rooms.
Camels are HUGE! I grew up around cows and horses. When I went to Africa, a camel walked by our car and it towered over all the cars/vans. It blew my mind.
I (worked in retail security) got in an argument once with someone with an "ESA" about having their animal in the store. They persisted that their cat had to be in the store for seizures. She said that her uncle was a sergeant at the local police department, and I said, ok call him down here so we can discuss this. But she threatened to sue and stormed off.
Talking to people is great. It’s just that everyone focuses on them and never ask how someone else’s day is going. Try it. Say “I’m good how are you doing?” It’s not that hard. But it doesn’t seem to be a normal thing anymore. It could change how your life goes. Just show some empathy once in awhile. Break away from Facebook. Talk to a person.
The most frustrating thing is some people get emotional support animals because they can't AFFORD service animals. They also don't have the training because the training costs thousands of dollars and years to train. My ESA knows when I'm having seizures, anxiety attacks, breakdowns, severe PTSD episodes, ect. and how to help me when I'm inside. But because I can't pay for her to be trained, she knows that when I'm outside, getting people away from me is the only way to help my anxiety and PTSD. But that comes in the form of lunging and aggression, so I can't take her to places I wish I could. I'm disabled and I get under 10k a year to cover rent and utilities, ect. A trained service dog can cost that much.
As a person who works in the psychological field, I abhor the constant ridicule of an ESA animal and its owner belittled for not having a visually apparent reason for a support animal. In many areas of the country, ESA animals are given credits for their medical and physical care for their psychologically dependent person, just like other service animals. The only true difference is that those people who do not suffer with either psychological or physical disorders do not understand the need of the ESA animal, nor do they want to. If an animal is such that they can be carried onto the lap of a person, or at their feet, then they should be allowed. Or would you prefer a person who has mental disorders rocking back and forth in their seat, banging their head against the back of your seat, or returning conversation to the voices in their heads? The emotional support animal allows their owners to venture out into the world.. much like your child carrying their blanket, pacifier, or their spinners..
Gonna miss that add with Ray LaChoda using chantattacks, I can't remember how many cigarettes he smoked in Goodfellas. Oh yeah forgot, Haha Jim great show on ESA.
I can see how deeply autistic or mentally disabled people might need these but 99% of humans should just get on with it. Leave the dogs cats, goldfish etc. at home, or with people who can look after them, and face the world like an adult.
Oh my, as a person with a genetic disorder and now disabled after working as much as possible as a proffesional for 27 years, i want to thank you. I laughed so hard it felt so good. by the way , i have no support animal.
My ESA has helped reduce my panic attacks and has retrieved my husband to get my medication. ESA's can be helpful, but the abuse of the term ESA has made everything harder for those who need their ESA or support animal.
There is such thing as certification for service dogs. Just because the certifying authorities are non-governmental and are largely guided by experts of their own membership does not make their authority less. It is true that laws governing the certification process are much lacking, but in court the government, as well as many private companies have invoked the ADA's wording, as well as the expertise of these certifying agencies in relation to recognition of service animals. Just like educational accreditation agencies are (to the surprise of many) mostly non-governmental and are largely governed by rules from experts in their membership. The Department of Education recognizes these agencies based on their standards and work, but they are otherwise not subject to the Department's rules.
I have an actual emotional support animal, and I'm so tired of people either faking their emotional support animals (as in "registering" them online) or people abusing what they can do with them (like taking them EVERYWHERE). My ESA is actually trained to do certain tasks, such as deep pressure therapy during anxiety attacks, bringing me toys shaped like food if she notices I haven't eaten for the day, and knocking my medication off of the table when it's past time for me to take it. The only reason my trained ESA isn't a service animal? She's a cat, and the ADA no longer recognizes cats as service animals. If I ever do fly (which i avoid because flying triggers my anxiety), I will certainly be bringing my ESA with me, but people abusing what ESAs are and what they can do threatens my ability to do that. Also. There is no registry for ESAs or service animals, so anyone who actually HAS registered with an online registry I immediately think to be faking it.
To be fair, no one is going to be mean to someone with an emotional support bear.

yup. i am 1000% against people taking their support pets places like grocery stores and restaurants because it effects how people with service dogs are treated... but god damn it if you need to fly with your small pet (i dont give a fuck what it is) go ahead and claim it is a support animal even if it is not. because if you dont keep it in the cabin with you, and sometimes even if you do, your pet will fucking die. airlines are deadly for pets.
Ummm... What about my emotional support emu
And my emotional support dolphin?
Alpha10prior Don't forget my emotional support Blue Whale
I've got an emotional support Burmese python
oooooh dont bring up emus near Jim..... tehy dont get along with Australians
They cause PTSD to Australian Vets who served in the Emu War, so no
Either camels are bigger than I thought or Jim is smaller than I thought.
Haha, agreed. That was one huge-ass camel. But maybe we're thinking of a llama?
Jim is pretty tall. Camels are HUGE, I was surprised how tall he was in comparison to the camel.
Oh Yeah camels are huge!
Yeah camels are just huge
they are not much smaller then elephants they can bite your head off
I had some anxiety issues. I went to the animal rescue to find a cute dog that could maybe help and comfort me. When I got it home, my anxiety levels tripled. I realized I had to feed it , take it for walks and look after it's every f**king need. Oh...the STRESS of it all!
I didn't know camels were so big. Holy shit. That's scary
J Girl is Jim too small? Lol
In awe at the size of this lad, absolute unit
Nah it's not Jim being too small, I rode a camel once and holy fuck are they big.
Did Jim Jefferies pull a John Oliver?
Shinister he pulled a John Oliver on a budget
Yup
yeah, well, CC doesn't have that dragon money.
My dog is judgemental, and looks at me very critically. She enjoys employing guilt tripping tactics in order to make me do things I really don't want to do.
Casually looks over "Carl's pissing himself, by the way!" *camera pans in*
Having an actual camel in the studio is the type of John Oliver-esq mood that I am always here for
The camels pissin' was fantastic comedic timing. HAHAHAHAHAHA
America is an odd place
If the animals can be taken care properly in the cargo area, it should not have so much trouble! However, many pets died in the airplane! Desperate solutions to claim they are emotional support animals
Jim, never leave us. The world needs you!
For several years now I have been joking about getting an emotional support python it could even give me hugs!
Carl better show up on future Jim Jeggeries shows!
The camel was pissing itself laughing at this segment.
And what about people who are frightened of dogs? I guess they just have to suck it up and suffer while their worst nightmare soothes the nerves of the person next to them.
Yep. Dogs can trigger someone's PTSD. But of course, someone that's not more important than the person who has PTSD with an emotional support dog.
It is not illegal to deny a support animal, they are nit service animals.
Only dogs and mini horses can legally be service animals.
I just wish he talked more about people who actually do need support animals. Like people with PTSD, anxiety attacks, or depression.
His joke on the marine veteran wasn’t funny
Google Plus is a Bad Idea
what? he was saying that guy actually needs one
People don’t even understand jokes. He wasn’t throwing jokes at the ex marine, he was actually supporting his legitimate need of the support animal. You need to open your minds to jokes drenched with sarcasm.
He literally talked about it and you're not happy about the amount of time he spent talking about it? Good grief 😂
Adam Nowek no he didn’t really go into it much. He only talked about the marine, he didn’t talk about other issues that people might have (emotional ones). That being said, this is a comedy show, not the news, so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal
Carl's smurf at the end while he's pissing xD
The peacock. Is so cute though.
Gigi The Waitress I don't know if you ever seen one close, but they are really annoying. Brainless. Nothing like a pet.
Peacocks are basically large, fancy chickens with a scream to wake the dead. They're beautiful, loud, and equipped with flappy wings and sharp claws/beak
Zoe Brown exactly
Ronin Master yea where I work there are wild peacocks (thanks asshole millionaire 100 years ago who just released 6 peafowl onto his land). People act like they are cute dogs and run at them and get cut the fuck up with those claws.
darkJman77 hahaha
A "Guide dog" is a service dog that guides the blind and visually impaired. I have one and he helps me find doors, chairs, our car, curbs, signs that might be blocking the sidewalk, etc. He has gone through extensive training since he was a puppy to make him the best that he can be.
I want a emotional support Giraffe
Happy birthday, Carl!
Whats up from Corpus Christi, TX. You guys used our footage, thanks a bunch!!!
In Mongolia our emotional support animals are eagles...my heart tingles when the claw of my eagle digs into the flesh of a wolf running for its life while we just sit on our horses and watch the strong devour the weak---HAHAHAHA--ahem....yeah
All I read was "The Khan will return"
This is America.
Anwyll Music true in asia emotional support people get their ass whooped Village Style
Don't catch you slippin' now.
As well as Canada, Australia, UK, France etc.......
And she's a guinea pig...
any dog is a guide dog,, if you don't care where you go..
I love this man
He genuinely cracks me the fuck up
Service animals also include miniature horses.
Lol "No do it with alcohol and drugs like a reasonable person".
“Half Ton Medical Necessity”
I love that band
6:14 the cutest face i´ve ever seen on an animal..
Jim Jefferys is the only comic that can make me laugh out loud till my stomach hurts even when I'm alone
I love Jim he's freaking brilliant
He sounds like John Oliver when he did the cat rant! Hilarious
There was no room for me and my service dog at the hotel I wanted to stay at because people with emotional support dogs had already taken them.
@ 6:52 `Did I do this segment just so I could have a camel on my show? FUCK YEAH!` I've never seen Jim Jefferies look more happy ...
I remember that heavy lifting line from Freedumb. Hah.
JIm and his writers are so good.
the cut to the piss was golden (no pun intended)
I (worked in retail security) got in an argument once with someone with an "ESA" about having their animal in the store. They persisted that their cat had to be in the store for seizures. She said that her uncle was a sergeant at the local police department, and I said, ok call him down here so we can discuss this. But she threatened to sue and stormed off.
Jim keep making history!
laughed until I cried again. Thanks
My emotional support komodo dragon makes me feel safe on the streets
For those who need it I understand
Agreed with all points. .
That joke would have better if he actually tried to board a plane with it.
The ad before the video was for an emotional support animal certification website
Jim Jefferies is awesome!!!
That's a different camel on the second ID.....🤣🤣
You can train your own service dog for free.
Jim is just a hoot!
I need a Emotional Support Camel too!
And a Emotional Support Elaphant, Polar Bear, Killer Whale and a Emotionsal.Sopprt Gorills!
that al pacino impression was great
This was actually hard hitting journalism Jim!
Loved it xD
Jim’s service dog voice = Jim’s Al Pachino impersonation
I hope they have Carl as a guest on the podcast
Never heard os a ESA until now, and ofc it is in the US.....
I love me a little Jim in the morning 😂 #hilariousasalways
Emotional support animal are really important for people with crippling anxiety. The problem is that most people don't have crippling anxiety.
I like Jim...he tells it like it is. He’s funny too.
My ESA has helped reduce my panic attacks and has retrieved my husband to get my medication. ESA's can be helpful, but the abuse of the term ESA has made everything harder for those who need their ESA or support animal.
Jim's back on the good stuff
As an Aussie, you should have brought a kangaroo.
Jim: "When I fly, I've got 4 cameltoes with me as support animals!" That's a rapper's entourage!
Exactly what support can a peacock give that a certifiably trained service dog cannot?
There id no such thing as certifiably trained, and service dog handlers can train their own service dogs.
That cow is like :- humans are very loud
I actually prefer this format without the desk. Keep up the good work, Jim!
"One...you get fucking one..." that whole bit fucking kills me. I'd love to see Jim takeover/host his own daily show
Thank you! This is why people have pets!
Yes. Life is anxiety inducing.
I used to watch you & didn't see this.....one of the best comedy/serious bits on you tube
That cow is enjoying the show
