One of my favorite transmissions ! I took the ole cruise-o-matic out of my 63 Galaxie , and built a 1967 C6 with a shift kit.... MAN Was that car FAST ! I miss her now. LOL Great Video Jay , brings back memories.
Great to watch. At 76 my hands don't wanna work that good anymore. Short story. In 66 or 67 I had 58 Ford w/427 and C6. Girlfriend paid to have trans redone by Vaughn Winters. I asked him if it would hold up. He said Kid that's the same trans I build for the funny cars. You'll never break it. Never did.
Thank God for the air tools. I used to take these apart on the floor with hand tools back when I started. Id let the oil go all over the floor and throw cat litter on it after. What a mess !
The most important/impressive takeaway is all the parts "you" trash or toss , I completely understand it. Customers/ warranty/business ..but when doing them for myself, known working trans. it's a minimum spending effort..lol Pan fill C4 next. That's what I use in my street car.
@@BroaderPerformance you’ll be happy with what I sent you. I worked really hard to clean it up. Took all day pressure washing and about 100 dollars worth ofof degreaser.
I'm disappointed that you didn't even try to do this in Mandarin, per the last video. I mean, you could have pointed at a crustiferous seal or mortified band and declared "sum ting wong". Oh but noooooo....

Ready for the C4 and AOD editions. :)
Great tear down. I like the air impact tool. Reminds me of the old days. 😊

THE fun part is doing all the dirty dishes awesome video jay
Thank you for your comments
Been waiting for this one! Quick and to the point.
I'm glad you liked it.
This is an amazing channel! It should have 100k subscribers
Thank you. We appreciate that. Maybe someday. We are pretty new to UA-cam.
First time I've seen a mason's hammer used to tear down a transmission. 👍
Tinners hammer. Sheet metal. Basically same.
@@russellridge8623 similar, but it's an old Stanley Steelmaster brick/masonry hammer. The handle is a dead giveaway.
Haha I like to be different.
Great video, thank you.
Can we donate some air fittings?
Sounds like a leaky radiator goin' on there...
I know everything is wearing out around here. It's on the list.
Also Jay try do a C4 panfill tear down sometime would be awesome sir
I'll do a c4 in the future
I’ll bet my c4 was a pleasure to tear down after seeing this!
You should see how bad the C4 cores normally look these days. Ill show one of those horrors at some point.
You and Frank are the C6 guys :) Lots of bad C6 vids on here how to do them the wrong way lol
I don't know if this was the right way but it was a way. Haha

The stuff I throw away usually will end up in my transmission. Haha
Good video. Will you be doing a follow up assembly video?
Not on this particular one but I'll do more of that in the future.
👍😎🏁
I'm guilty of using a framing hammer on the rear seal....lol
Whatever works. Nothing wrong with being creative.
C6. puzzle. 😊
Good way of describing it. I never thought of it like that.
I never understood why people don’t try to at least clean up the cores before they send them out.
This core was better than most I get. Thats the sad part. It turned out good honestly.

Haha Ill be sure to work on that.
