Thank you so much! I was almost ready to call an appliance repair person but thought I’d give your method a try…. You saved my hundreds of $$$’s by doing it myself. Thank you again!!!
Wow! Your video is bang on!!! Took me an hour to perform what you described! I couldn’t find a lot of ice accumulated but found some frozen green peas in the vent area and some at the bottom blocking the drain… removed all, used a blow dryer to dry out everything and voilà! Vent is working again! Maybe a green pea was stuck in the vent…You are a good soul and I am impressed by your skills! Well done, thanks much and God bless you!!!
Thank you so much for this video, this happened to my mother's freezer on a Sunday morning, I was able to fix the issue with your help. Thank you again
One of the worst nightmare a new parent can have. Having their fridge broken on a Sunday later afternoon. Which means, no available service. Being a middle income family also means money is not that easy. Our son was just recently born. Barely even 3 weeks. Two things saved me: 1. I collected some tools over time, just in case things like this happen. 2. YOUR VIDEO!!! Thank you so much!!!! You just helped a new family with this. ❤
❤😊 OH I know exactly that feeling of fridge giving problems while having a new baby and breastfeeding. It happens to me.Im so glad my video was a big help. Congratulations on your new baby!
My friend bought the same refrigerator at the veterans store , it had the same code and the repairman was asking for $800 to fix it ($500 for parts and $300 for labor) With your video I fix it myself the fan motor was unplugged Thanks
Zuhey - My fiancee and I are having a horrible time with our beloved pet passing away yesterday. The freezer stopped working, and we were freaked out about having to fix/pay a repairman. Your video helped us diagnose and fix the issue easily. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This video helped me so much thank you!! I had a huge ice block and actually I was too lazy to unscrew everything so I took a hair dryer and melted all the ice and it started working again 😃🙏🏼
I had the error on my fridge on a late Saturday night. I messed with settings on temperature display and would walk away. When I returned 15 min later same error. This is during covid and I was getting frustrated because appliances are on a LONG delivery list from where ever they are made. I came across this video. Followed the steps. I found ice like on this video. Removed ice. Fan is working now and temperature is starting to go down slowly. It's been a hour and so far no code. What a relief and a my stress level went down. Thank you so so much fingers 🤞
I'm glad this video help.just to let you know it will happen again. everytime the ice tray fill up with water for some reason water leaks and that's when the fan ended up with ice blocking it from spinning.some people prefer to turn off the fridge and wait hours until the ice melt but thats not good for the food.
Error Code SY EF is the System Evaporator Fault. It could be a sensor, but I'm not sure where that is, it seems like getting ice out from the fan fixes it. My fan wasn't all that iced up, but maybe it melted before I got to it. After I cleared it I plugged it back in to see if fan spun before I reassembled everything. Thank you for your superb video!
You're awesome! Thanks so much for sharing! 😁❣️ I appreciate the fact that you simplified it by telling us we didn't need to unscrew the top part (where the ice maker is.) I hope mine is a simple fix like yours was!
You are a LIFESAVER! I was panicking because I thought my refrigerator went up. I was like Oh’ No I don’t have the money right now for a replacement. Well, after watching many UA-cam videos to see if I could fix it, I came across yours with the same error code. I followed everything you said and low and behold...that was exactly the problem. I had a chunk of ice about 6 inches long and 2 inches wide. It now works! The fan is spinning! It took all of an hour to fix, that includes cleaning out the freezer and packing everything in coolers. The fix took maybe 10 mins total! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My exact problem. My display had dead LEDs so I couldn't fully read the error code. Checked the rear wiring harness, and was about to pull out the control board when I saw ur vid. Saved me a giant headache.
Thanks Zuhey. Big help. Not sure yet if mine is the fan motor or a sensor, but I now know how “EASILY” to get to the fan/motor. I hope you’re doing more videos, and I really hope it’s an appliance we both have! LOL! Thank you again.
Did the procedure and BOOM! now I have a working fridge. I see it's a very common problem with these types of fridges whereas the horrible ice maker design (btw had replaced twice under the warranty) can cause water to drip down and eventually seize the fan. To be safe I ordered a backup fan motor Part no. 242290001 for Frigidaire Gallery FHGS2631PF4A for $50...I have a feeling it's gonna happen again so might as well be prepared. Thank you for your vid...it actually saved me from going to Lowe's and spending $1000 for a replacement. Muchisimas Gracias!!!
Thank you for the video, had this error and was looking at replacement units when I found this. So far, it is the longest it has been running without error.
Great explanation you were right on with the issue because I had a piece of ice on the fan and other videos had you taking a bunch of of components off unnecessarily just to get to the fan Thank you
Thank you very much for this video. It helped me to solve a problem with that error code and my refrigerator is working again. You saved me a lot of money.
Wow ! Thank u so much !! I tried it I want to see if it works but if feels like it’s gonna work love your video perfect it is understanding and vet very helpful :-)
My cube of ice were stuck all the way up by the fan so I removed the black ice let’s see if it works but your video is really amazing and helped a lot thank you so much
Don’t tear your frig apart until you have made sure air flow is not the cause. If you pack your frig wrong; air flow will be restricted. That’s what was wrong in my case.
if drain is froze you have to remove the back cover and remove water valve and get to the drain tube and blow out the sluge build up in the drain tube .
You just saved me a lot of time and money... twice! Thank you! Do you know WHY ice forms around the fan? Our refrigerator is only 4 years old but I have had to clear ice from the fan twice in the past 3 months! Is the ice maker leaking?
Hi happy to hear that this video still helping others.Im not sure why this happened but I did found out that it's a very common problem with this Brand new fridge or old.
Hola buenas tardes por lo q veo ese código de error en el display es originado por trabarse el fan con hielo ,debido a acomulacion de hielo tal ves por q el cliente a dejado la puerta del congelador abierta por mucho tiempo ? Verdad?

I paid$2400 for this refrigerator and it's less efficient than units made in the 70's. Back then we had the same problems. SHEEESH
I just walked in my kitchen and seen this syef code on my freezer door. This video helped so much. Time go break out the tools. Thank you 😊
Video definitely came in clutch. Thank you. Had the titanic ice around the wiring and used a blow dryer to soften it up. Like a brand new freezer now

Hola buenas tardes por lo q veo ese código de error en el display es originado por trabarse el fan con hielo ,debido a acomulacion de hielo tal ves por q el cliente a dejado la puerta del congelador abierta por mucho tiempo ? Verdad?
Es possible!
my fan was not frozen so I replaced it, same error code, so then I replaced the main board and the code was gone, fridge works again. put the old fan back in .
But, there's a reason the ice builds up, either the thermostat and bad or the heating element failed,or your drain is plugged,
You right about this. Dedefently something it's not working right

Oh and I also turned off the ice maker so it doesn’t happen again and just using ice trays from now on.
