This line blew me away on my first watch. Still early in the season - for what it is at the moment, like you said, I love every bit of it. Eager to see them late season when they're just dialed in. They are DRUMMING.

Can we talk about that height differential between quad players when they reach over to each others’ drums at 6:34? Homeboy on the far end has to squat down and reach SUPER far to play on the next drum over!

Seeing these guys live in Detroit had me up on my feet between movements during their show. They were absolutely incredible.

I think part of the balance stuff on the high rolls is the mic quality, honestly sounds like it’s being subjected to too many decibels lol
You guys said the same thing i said about BD this year but when i said it i got called a hater. They are definitely getting at it being young and a lot of new faces but i just don’t see them taking the Fred Sanford this year.
We’ll see but they are definitely full of Snare rookies. They’ll be good no doubt but ultimately it’s gonna be an interesting battle for the Sanford this year.

I was 17 in '78, a lead baritone. I remember the night in Illinois I think when we lost a guy and Rob Carson stepped in the line. We were all like, "we're going to win😶".
Fred was so, and this word gets thrown around, sweet, gentle. He would work the brass occasionally, we had two brass instructors and Royer. He would help integrate us into his writing. He would be so gassed to know young cats like you guys, tossing his name around with reverence 👍🏽💚❤️

Why do groups' content scores go up throughout the season even though they often aren't beefing up the book every show?
probably because as the book gets cleaner it becomes easier to read. it's easier to tell what people are playing if they're playing it well.
Is the Boston video sped up? Even just to like 1.25x? The visual hand speed doesn't look natural at all and I think it sounds faster than finals night.

These drumlines These Days, play very little, in the way of rudiments. What they are playing is quite simple. I know they're not judged on content they just judged on pretty much of visuals and people's opinions. Actually most of these drumlines These Days pretty much play all the same thing, you definitely need to be a juggler to be in a lion today, and a head Baba, with arms flailing all over the place. That's what the judges nowadays look for, instead of looking at real drumming. Speaking of real we no longer have real drum and bugle Corps, they turned the activity into a marching band competition superimposed on the three ring circus. Need to drop the DCI, instead call it marching bands International. Call it what it really is. I like marching bands don't get me wrong but they are definitely not a drum and bugle c o RPS.
I grew up appreciating and watching the “old school” or traditional lines you are probably referring to. Not to take the millennial approach here but you could not be more incorrect. I’d also say you’re making a very large generalization. Nothing about what is being done today is “easy”. The simultaneous responsibility increased 10x as well. The level of clarity being put out is also completely different. Just because lines aren’t standing at a 1 step interval playing flam drags or marching 10 to 5s and playing book reports into consecutive flam 5s doesn’t make this easy. HS kids rip rudiments now to the point where it’s embarrassing. The level of difficulty inside insane pressure changes, multiple bounce figures etc is unmatched with this era. I’m sorry you feel that way but the folks who started in those lines and still arrange/judge today would also disagree.

Love me some Pearl drums man. The quads resonate so well. Edit: Boston posted their own video of the rep at 11:42 where they are actually in front of the line. Audio is way better on it and it actually shows how locked in the kids are.
That stuff at the end definitely sounded better in person than in the video. I watched it live in Detroit
