Woah buddy, do some research! The Go-Pro came out several months AFTER the SJ series started up and Go Pro copied their water proof case not the other way around. I was going to buy an SJ but got the Andoer 4K for just under $77 Canadian.
Alex maybe the write speeds were slow on the sd cards you were using. That's probably why the 720p slomo didn't record well and the app came up with an error message
The SD issue is likely the brand. I experienced this testing an earlier SJ model but the issue went away after popping in a SanDisk. Not sure which brand I was using before but I was bummed because it was a 64GB microSD.. Anyway, long story short a lot of these have been refined by different manufacturers across Asia. We've just gotten one of the newer 4K cams and luckily they have much more app function, and much better colors for an even cheaper price (just because so many are coming out now) we're even bringing in the 1080p/720p models because we'll be able to sell them literally at $40.
Also, Check out the Xiaomi Yi and Eken H9 Action cameras! They both record 4K, however the Eken H9 only records 4K at 10FPS. They both are under £100 ;)

I believe it is actually recording in 60 fps with frame doubling to 120. That is, it records actual 60 unique frames and then doubles them by showing the same frame twice. So you actually play it in 15 fps at 25%.
Spec wise, action cameras make better dash cams than the purpose-built dash cams. Longer battery life, more mounting options, higher resolutions and more efficient codecs, removable battery and generally smaller.
My action camera is 4K 30fps / 1080p 60fps,30fps / 720p 120fps,60fps,30fps. I use 1080p 60 FPS and IT last for 3-4 hours. IT cost about 30$ with alot of extra mountings and stuff. IT was a Great deal.

if the batteries not lasting very long, hook it up to a external battery backup, like the ones for phones etc and see if it works. Would be great for using on the go
I'm pretty happy with my GoPro 4 Black and while it may be a rip off in comparison, your paying for that extra quality like the app and colours. I could tell the colours were off straight away, just the green car in front of you wasn't quite right. And while you can change colours in editing software slightly you shouldn't have to, that's the quality you get with GoPro, most other action cams are very closely based on GoPro but cannot beat them. But to be fair 4K for under £100 is sick, it's just poor 4K. I use my GoPro for my tech videos but if I used the SJ there would be minimal difference. You should have done a side by side comparison to really see if there's a difference. Nice video 👍

The low priced 4K cameras are so cheap because they don't actually have 4K sensors in them. They use 1080 sensors and scale the picture up in software. You could do the same thing (probably better) in post. Meanwhile, you're filling up your memory card with data created in the camera, not filmed. And your memory card issues-the error message and no 4K option of the phone-are probably due to the lack of a class 10 SD card. You need a faster card to handle the high data rates of 4K video. That may also have been why your 120fps footage was less than desirable.
I don't really understand why your camera is like that because I have the exact same camera and everything is fine, the colour isn't green, I can change setting and everything is alright :)
I have the sj4000 wifi and I would say this review is very buyest because the sjcam battery lasts about and hour and the picture is great and so is the app

We have the *HITACHI HDSVO1U* it doesn't record in 4K but records great HD video and comes with a good range of accessories for the price.

strange, the battery in my sj4000 lasts for ages. I use it on my motorbike helmet and it will last over 2 hours

Xiaomi Yi > SJ5000 It spends most of the money on the sensor. Its the same one used in sony action cameras.
I have an sj4000 and I think it's good but due to the colours and the app it is just personal preferance

You need to try out the "Xiaomi Yi Action Cam" it can record in 1920x1080 60fps up to 2k.

I am a huge GoPro fan, have owned all of them so far :) Really like them all!

The WiFi app for the SJ5000 + works as you describe for the GoPro, controls everything that is on the camera menu.

Try the geekpro 3.0 4k model i have one its great and its colours are accurate not greenish like this one

To me the obvious choice is the Gopro, you get what you pay for. Want a quality camera with 4K and all the bells and whistles then pay a bit extra.
