I have the base game. Quite the puzzle! We love it. We often feel pre-tty smart in the first phase and…disappointed and teary eyed by the middle of the second phase. Especially when my partner is in blocking mode 😂
I really like this game. It's thinky but it's quick enough that I don't feel like it's too much. Plus it's just so pretty at the end. My favourite moment was when I took that P tile and thought I had built the perfect space for it. Then I realized I inverted the shape and couldn't fit it anywhere.

I'm so glad to see this game getting some love. One of the best small box 2-player games ever. Should be a household name alongside jaipur and patchwork. I will say, I don't really have any desire to get the expansion. I think there's infinite variety and tactics in just the base game and the postcards in the expansion maybe mess with the tightness of the game a bit too much.

That L shaped building that was swapped out for levitation could have scored for 2x lamp posts in the lower right quadrant I think, and that would have also made it score for the obelisk. Would have scored 4x2 + 3 or 11 points there.
Could Naveen have got an extra 3 points with that obelisk? I think I noticed a spot. I mean, you still would have lost by a point. Sorry for rubbing it in. Thanks heaps for the playthrough. Love your stuff and can't wait for your videos to pop up.
Late to the party but you have convinced me! Just ordered 😊 Have you played Botanik? If not, you just have to buy it! Since you like tile laying and quick 2-player games, I would be surprised if you wouldn’t find us both interesting and fun! Usually I can’t play a game many times in a row, but Botanik is the only exception (together with RftG). Watch Zees review, 9/10, and after 42 games in 2 months I would rate this as the best game in its category. It’s the definition of elegance and innovative in a crowded space. It’s the new golden standard for me ☺️

oh wow. I just noticed, that the english rules say, that you draw just one street tile :0 in the german rules of Kosmos you can draw 2 and when you place one, you immediately draw a second, so that you always have two street tiles to choose. Now I get it!
It is only if you don't recognize your opponent can score it big. You should definitely try and nab it away from them. I (Naveen) waited a turn too long.
i thought it would be more thight. also, we found bonus cards that score points at the end of the game to be way too powerful. maybe we need to play it a few more times. but, does expansion add anything new?
Didn't work for me, the first part of the game is boring (you don't have the control over what you draw and how the board will look like anyway so it's just a tedious process of building the board). The second half is more interesitng, but it's a crime against humanity that the postcard abilities are not explained in plain text ON THE POSTCARDS themselves. What a waste of space and a huge usability issue. The timing of certain postcards is a bit convoluted and due to this Paris IS NOT a gateway game. 6/10 for me, there are many 2 player games I'd rather play instead.
I think that you have a fairly high amount of control. for example: you can lay the tiles so, that a specific building will perfectly fit (and be adjacent to as many lights as possible) or you can cut your opponents ways. when your opponnent lays a tile and could therefore build a specific large building in it, you just can snap it away or else, you can leave it to him/her but try to be first in phase 2, to place a building in one of the purple slots of this space. Or you can just take eifell tower first and put it on. Always when your opponent grabs a building in phase 1 you can think: why ?where and how can I cross my oppontents plans and at the same time can be as efficient as possible. I can go on and on for thought in phase 1, but it's defenitely far away from boring ^^ during phase one my brain goes completely exstasy every time and the mind games (when you play against a person who is also 100% in) are wonderfull and satisfying.

Rather sounds like you're lacking some planning ability than flaws in the game...
