  • Learn how to hit harder tennis groundstrokes by using this simple secret! This video will show you how to add more power and speed to your forehand and backhand groundstrokes, so you can dominate your opponents on the court.
    You don't have to spend 8 hours a day in the gym to get more power on your groundies. Look to move into each ball to use your entire body weight.

    This lesson explains so many problems-being back helps you hit a wide ball coming into it, and starting back keeps you from being jammed by a deep ball at the baseline and hitting off the back foot. Great stuff.

    Moving only the arm 100% faster, with no body involvement: 10% actual energy transfer into the ball. 10% more powerful strokes.
    Moving entire body "only" 50% faster, but 80% of that energy gets transferred into the ball: 40% more powerful strokes.
    Math doesn't lie! I think that's one big reason why we should first learn to control the ball and execute the strokes properly.

    Fantastic!! love it!! You always make me think 🤔 there's alot of talk about "don't give up any ground" thanks for clarifying this for us and putting it together with the big picture! ❤️🙏

      I wouldn't get any court time otherwise :-). But it's really not bad when it's 40 and above.

    wow - a video on more powerful groundstrokes that does not just focus on stroke technique. Very different and very interesting. Many thanks.

    You should mention that the key is body rotation. In the shot that you demonstrated, it was peddling back but then the body rotated while striking the ball, so you still finished in a balance position. If you don't have the rotation, you will be out of balance and be falling back after hitting the ball in that fashion.

    Haha, my coach has told me the same thing about moving back but needing to get the movement forward for the stroke even then. This was a good visualization of it.

    Not to sound sexist, but this is great advice for the young ladies on the court. This past high school season as I watched our team and everyone we competed with, this was one the things I stressed with my daughter and the other girls is the power you want is not going to come from your arms but getting your whole body coiled and uncoiled into the groundstroke... we will be reviewing this great video!

    • @MeikeBabelTennis
      @MeikeBabelTennis  Рік тому +1

      I don't think it's sexist. It's just the reality that if you use your entire body you create more power. I'm working on this with all kids when they're younger because they're just not as strong.

    I’d be interested to hear what you think of Patrick Mouratoglou who seems to be in favour of using the arm more than the body and discourages students from leading with the body and talks about putting the hand through first. Anyway, maybe he just has a different way of explaining. But he seems to not believe in the kinetic chain.

    Yikes. I am a baseline hugger hit on the rise guy. Going back is not something that I think of. Also you addressed it but the moment I stand behind the baseline the opponents balls get shorter and I start losing. Its not droppers. Its just short angles. Not being fast, movement is a challenge. So I need to take this video to heart and work on the movement.
