  • The audio voiceovers on the original version of this video were so bad I had to delete it and remake the entire video. I apologize to everyone who suffered through the first version and for any confusion re-posting the same video with the same name. This improved version is about the same machine, an antique Guhl and Harbeck sewing machine.

    Hey!! i saw your glomania mx review, and you mentioned the paints rough texture and how it's hard to get a smooth coating when you paint with it. . I recently bought a pack of it and it is pretty thick. You mentioned that those were problems we can deal with. I was wondering how I can deal with that and make the paint thinner and have a more smooth texture and have a more smoother coating! thank you in advance!!

      The only things I can think of are to: 1. use many light coats so that they even out or 2. find out what thinner the company recommends and use a little of that to thin out the mix. Good luck and thanks for writing!

    Hello
    Could you tell me how to place the thread under the presser?
    I can't get it to work.

      Hello, and thank you for writing!
      Because this is a chain stitch machine, it shouldn't be necessary to have the thread under the presser foot to start sewing. Just make sure there is at least 6 inches of thread pulled through the needle before cranking the first stitch and it should work.
      If you can give me a little more information about how yours isn't sewing, I may be able to help.

    Is there a bobbin thread in the bottom of this sewing machine?

    I have just seen one of your great cloud chamber videos and was wondering if anyone had done a double slit experiment within one?

    • @wayneschmidt490
      @wayneschmidt490  2 роки тому

      Hi! And thanks for commenting! Doubt slit experiments use coherent light to demonstrate the wave nature of light. I'm not sure how that would apply to cloud chambers. Or are you thinking of a different double slit experiment?

    • @TobaJones77
      @TobaJones77 2 роки тому

      @@wayneschmidt490 I believe electrons can also be used for the double slit experiment rather than light. I don't know if it has ever been done in a cloud chamber before but it would be interesting to see.

      @@TobaJones77Now I understand what you suggested. Yes, streams of electrons, or any charged particle, can be injected into a cloud chamber to create concentrated clouds. The following video shows this:
      ua-cam.com/video/z1gtxVwLdGg/v-deo.html
      The problem with trying to combine this with a double slit setup is that currents in the vapor layer that create the trails move the trails around so much that they would destroy the interference pattern produced in a double slit experiment. Interesting idea. though. Thanks!

    • @wayneschmidt490
      @wayneschmidt490  2 роки тому

      I thought of another problem with San electron, doubt slit experiment in a cloud chamber: using particles requires the experiment be conducted in a vacuum, which isn't compatible with a cloud chamber.
      But, you've given me an interesting idea. What about doing a normal double slit experiment with a laser as the coherent source, but instead of just having the interference pattern projected onto a screen, fill the room with fog so that you could look down in the light paths and see the interference pattern projecting from the slits.

      Wow, that would be great to see 😀 It was actually that video that made me wonder I the first place 👍

    Hi, Wayne. I just got this very same machine. Is not fully operational and I’m missing just 2 parts. Do you have any idea how I can get ahold of parts for it.

    • @wayneschmidt490

      Your best bet is being a second machine for parts. Finding individual parts for anti sewing machines is almost impossible if they're not Singers. Sorry.

    Hi Wayneo! Thanks for your video on powdery mildew. I will get busy today but i can not leave feedback nor is there a email address to message u. You did not mention i assume the baking soda kitchen oil and soap combine with 1 gallon of oil? Please advise thanks.Jason G

      Sorry about comments being disabled. I was getting attacked by trolls and had to turn them all off. I thought I'd turned them back on, but missed this video. Thanks for the heads-up!
      You're right, the amounts of oil, soap and baking soda are all for 1 gallon of water.

    Hi! I have a Hoover sewing machine with the serial number being J50314, and I can’t find any information on how much it’s worth. Do have any ideas?

    • @wayneschmidt490
      @wayneschmidt490  2 роки тому

      Sorry, I've never heard of a Hoover before. A search turned upon the following EBAY link to someone selling a HooVer:
      www.ebay.com/itm/333848184033
      Is this your machine? If so, then it should give an idea of its value. Sadly, most old sewing machines aren't worth very much. They were made to last and produced by the millions so there are many out for sale. this always drives prices down.
