Requirements to Pass a Skills Assessment

- A skills assessment is often the first step to most Australian permanent work visas. including General Skilled Migration and Permanent Employer Sponsored visas. Without a skills assessment you can’t apply for all general skilled migration visas including:
- Skilled Independent (Subclass 189)
- Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190)
- Regional Nominated (Subclass 489) or the new (Subclass 491)
If you can’t meet the requirements for a skills assessment, then you can't apply for these visas. Therefore it is the first thing you should consider.

I read that in some cases, the DOI assesses the work experience declared on your EOI against ANZSCO requirements if there is a difference (i.e. more experience declared) between what a skill assessment body says about an applicant's experience. I've found a couple of references for this detail saying that this is a recent change. Is this correct?
Hi Jason, yes immigration will usually go with the recommendation of the skill assessor. But on rare instances, immi can decide to not give you points for work experience if they believe it was not at the appropriate skill level

Hi. How does one apply for skilled assessment for accountant general to claim partner points. CPA only assesses with 7 or above IELTS. Partners need only 6 points for IELTS. However, they do not seem to assess with 6 points.
In order to claim the 10 additional points for your partner, you need to pass both the skill assessment requirement and competent English. If there is an English language requirement as part of the Skill Assessment, you will need to meet these requirements.
I have Bachelors and masters in physics from India then I moved to engineering and completed my PhD in civil engineering. Do you think that I will be eligible to get assessed by Engineers Australia?? In the program list on Migration skilled assessment site, there is not course which has a title of Doctor of philosophy. So in my best understanding in need to go through CDR pathway. I also do have superior english test scores.
But again, will my background be suitable for civil engineering occupation list?

I have 6 years work experience as software developer and trying to apply skill assessment.I have a question about employment reference letter..it was mentioned in ACS applicant guidelines to mention the skills applied on the job.but my employer mentioned about my duties, not skills used in this project.will I get positive outcome if I submit without skills used ?
I would recommend submitting a letter that meets the ACS requirements and guidelines.
Payment Evidence must include at least two different types of documentary evidence from the following list of categories. This must cover the beginning and end for each year of employment being claimed in the application
• Official government tax records or documents that may include payment summaries, group certificates or notices of assessment (citing company and applicant name)
• Payslips citing names of the applicant and employer
• Employment linked insurance/superannuation documents citing the name of the applicant and employer
• Bank statements showing salary payments from employer (citing applicants name and name of employer).
How many payslips have to attach? from start of employment until now?
I cannot get refrence letter from my earlier employer in 2005 can I attach offer letter and relieving letter?

I have 2+ years mechanical Technician and 1 year Technician training from a manufacturing company and currently I was offered a Mechanical Engineer position.
My educational background is HND (Higher National Diploma) in Mechanical Engineering from Nigeria.
I have checked my qualifications credibility for an accord standard by the EA (Engineer Australia) and in my country (Nigeria) there is no accord standard.
So am asking now, with my HND (educational qualifications) and Mechanical Engineer position and my mechanical Technician experience, how long will I work as an engineer to be eligible for a positive skill assessment for a Mechanical engineer by the Engineer Australia (EA).

Internationals cannot do an apprenticeship in Australia. However you can study the course and do vocational placement as part of your course

@@Pathwaytoaus I didn't understand your question. But I will answer assuming you are asking what occupation would this put me in; Universities show on their websites that masters in health management and/or MBA in healthcare management lead to -
1) Primary health organisation manager
2) Health and welfare services manager
3) Practice Manager
4) Medical Administrator
Although all these look promising and are present on SOL for 189, I am not sure if these courses will actually lead me to these occupations because I have asked a few people (friends of friends) about this and they said there's no PR on these degrees. And now I am looking for an expert advice from pros.
