As a young country boy from Limerick I went to Dublin when I was 16 , my Jesus my eyes were opened so quickly, if you close your eyes for a second somebody would buy you a drink if you close for two seconds They would steal the fiver in your hand, I grew up quick , I think deep down they love country people but did not trust them, because all the police were from the country and all the landlords from the country , I left when I was 26 came to Australia , there are so many Dublin people here as well , it seems like the longer they are here the more Dublin they become , One of the great Dublin songs not many sing it is /Dublin in my tears/ ☘️☘️☘️

#Dublin holds so many relatively recent memories of just how poor, excluded & hard life was for far too many. Yet our grannies, granddas, mums & dads lived lives so solidarity between each other. Sharing the little they had. Including grief, sadness € joys.

Vanishing Ireland; vanishing Dublin. "The Rare AULD Times" replaced by the Plantation/Invasion quare auld times. My deep hearts core weeps and weeps bitterly. I feel that the Ireland we once knew, is slipping through our fingers.
    Beautiful poem. Thank you.

For 200 yrs the Irish went abroad looking for a better life. Immigrants relying on the kindness of others! Now immigrants are doing the same on Irish soil for the last 20 yrs and your bitter??

Yes I agree, it's a plantation for sure! These people are not refugees most of them! I'm also broken hearted!

To see the state of it now, our ancestors I'm sure are disgusted with us!

My Dad use to tell me about Bang Bang and 40 coats. I was born and reared in Dublin but sadly there and abroad people continue to say, your not Irish, where are you really from? 😮
