Hi! Thanks for writing in. You can leave it plugged in as long as it's not turned on. Usually, you can touch any metal component as long as it's not turned on to discharge any static energy. Erica_Lenovo

If you touch painted screws while it's turned on, it will still cause an Electrostatic Discharge. Mac_Lenovo
