Am happy to say that I was a student of Kalakshetra and it has definitely changed over the years!!!
Yes it is Amala Akkineni. She A Kalakshetra Alumnus learnt Bharathanatyam, a wonderful artiste
Kalakshetra School is still there but under government 'supervision'?!?!!?
When I visited last in 2000 I was talking to to Smt Krishnaveni, who was principal then, about this & she wasn't happy at all.

Admirable and visionary and the appreciation go on for generation.I met the likes of dancer shobana and her aunt natyaperoli Pandmini more than a decade ago. The dancers speak well in english.
7:23 is that alarmed Valli's mother
Leela was trained by Rukmini Devi herself, I gather & has kept up the high standards.

Apsara amala mam
Beautiful place. I especially love the words - to be kind, good human beings...
At one time, it was my dream to be here..
I am happy I am still learning Bharatnatyam, and I have a wonderful teacher...
And I would've loved being in Kalakshetra back then.
