@@linda10989 I bet it affected him for the rest of his life. Same with the people who found Patsy Cline's crashed plane in the woods. Such a gruesome ending to very talented and loved people. RIP. (Jan Griffiths).
I was 2 when the plane crashed. I liked all their music because that's what my parents listened to. My mom bought me my own record of "Let's Go" by Ritchie Valens, which was my favorite at the age of 2. I still have that record today, still playable but scratchy. It's been framed and hangs on a wall in my living room. Don McLean's "American Pie" was about the event, and the group Weezer had a hit called "Buddy Holly" in the 90s. (Jan Griffiths).
The show before Clear Lake was in Appleton, WI. Thirty miles away in Green Bay, the Packers hired a coach that nobody had heard of. His name was Vince Lombardi.
Music is the harp of life ! So there will always be musicians to fulfill this requirement ! But its very sad that such talented & young musicians lost their lives Pray they RIP !🙏❤️🌹
As far as I am concerned the music died the summer of 1982. Those of you who missed out during that period of time I never having even an inkling of a chance to see any of these great rock bands play live in person. All this left now are broken memories of what was never to be rekindled again. That is the truth and circumstance of true sin. By those who hate the freedom of speech in the comfort of. In fact. The music didn't die that night even though those 3 legends died in that plane crash. The music took off after it became bigger and better. Buddy and Richie and J P never died they still live til this day. It's everywhere.
@@sallykohorst8803 Yes it was. Jerry Lee Lewis had married his teenage cousin, sending his career into freefall, Little Richard was leaving music for the ministry, and others had gotten in trouble. Also, that night in Moorhead, a new career was starting. A local band was tapped to perform that became known as the Shadows and the lead singer, Robert Veline, became known as Bobby Vee.
Rest In Peace.
My husband is from Iowa. We currently live in a different state. I traveled to Iowa many years ago, and I visited the crash site. It was so very sad!
Imagine that poor land owner finding those 3 horribly injured bodies on his property

Wow. I love Waylon Jennings. Nuts how close we all were to never hearing his amazing work, especially with the Highway Men.

Big Bopper had a fever, not Waylon

The plane had a certain type of altimeter that Pedersen wasn't familiar with. My dad saw them at the show in Kenosha Wisconsin.

The Winter Dance Party was badly organized. Instead of getting from once place to another you were going backwards and forwards.
We should be careful with our words but you can't blame yourself for something you really don't have much control over.

it evolved.
They were worried about the future of rock and roll and it was a very uncertain time.
