I actually like both versions of the song but I always will lean more towards Kanye's version. Yes, Kanye used autotune and that's okay. He knows he isn't a singer, that's why he's a rapper. Autotune is art to him so this song is art. People are so focused on how someone sings a song that they forget all about the reason Kanye made this song. "Only One" is sung from his mother's point of view, hence why Kanye sings, "Hello 'Mari" (his nickname) and "Tell Nori about me" (since she cannot). I like Kanye's more because he has a true reason and he sang it from his heart. No disrespect to Nick or his fans, but he can't connect with the song on the same level as Kanye. Hopefully people will stop judging a song based on how it sounds and more on the reason behind it.
+Brittany Busco tbh, kanye didnt really need to use autotune if he didnt want to. he is no beyonce but can, at least, hold some notes. like you said, autotune for him is a form of art used in songs. there are many people who deliberately uses autotune to emphasize and add something new, but there are also very few who can correctly use them. kanye knows how to utilize autotune.
Brittany Busco A person doesn't have to have the exact same situation or feelings from a song to connect with it. For instance... I love and sing the song This Is A Man's by James Brown. Every time i sing or even think about it, i think of how my mother is always there for me and that i would be nothing without her being in my life. I also love and learned the song Titanium by Sia. I was bullied through elementary school all the way until 11th grade. The lyrics of that Titanium resonate with me beyond belief. "You shoot me down, but I won't fall" Those are words I will always live by. Mad world originally done by Tears Of Fears, and then covered/redone by Gary Jules. That's a perfect example as to how a song can be covered and still keep a connection and the reason behind it.
Overall, my situation may have not been the same as those who wrote those songs, but the connection, reason, and emotions I feel from them are still very much real to me. Welp...if you read my entire comment (I wouldn't blame you if you didn't cuz it's like a UA-cam essay xD) I hope I enlightened you on how music can build a connection with everyone and anyone, whether the intention/original meaning is within that connection. Welp...hope ya have a great day 😁
You cant hear the pain in his voice, Kanye wrote the song as a tribute to his mother, he mustve been in pain at the time, u can hear it in yes voice, this is good though
Ashlee cain The song is about his daughter, but from the perspective of his mother. That's the main reason Kanye uses autotune. It's a different voice being channeled through him in both a literal and metaphorical sense.
No, I think it mostly about Kanye from his mother perspective in heaven, just telling him to be happy and telling him how blessed he is. Towards the end, it goes to North, but from his mother and himself. That's what I believe at least. o.o
Stephen Venezia Are you saying covers can't be better? Because they most definitely can xD. Personally this one is just easier to listen to. Not nescessarily better, just something i can put on replay that sounds polished lol. The original is still amazing though 👍
'As I lay me down to sleep I hear her speak to me Hello 'Mari, how ya doin'? I think the storm ran out of rain, the clouds are movin' I know you're happy, 'cause I can see it So tell the voice inside ya head to believe it I talked to God about you, he said he sent you an angel And look at all that he gave you You asked for one and you got two You know I never left you 'Cause every road that leads to heaven's right inside you So I can say Hello my only one, just like the mornin' sun You'll keep on risin' 'til the sky knows your name Hello my only one, remember who you are No you're not perfect but you're not your mistakes Hey, hey, hey, hey Oh the good outweighs the bad even on your worst day Remember how I'd say Hey hey one day you'll be the man you always knew you could be And if you knew how proud I was You'd never shed a tear, have a fear, no you wouldn't do that And though I didn't pick the day to turn the page I know it's not the end every time I see her face, and I hear you say Hello my only one, remember who you are You got the world 'cause you got love in your hands And you're still my chosen one So can you understand? One day you'll understand So hear me out, hear me out I won't go, I won't go No goodbyes, no goodbyes Just hello, just hello And when you cry, I will cry And when you smile, I will smile And next time when I look in your eyes We'll have wings and we'll fly Hello my only one, just like the mornin' sun You'll keep on risin' 'til the sky knows your name And you're still my chosen one, remember who you are No you're not perfect but you're not your mistakes
Love love both versions; Love Nick's because it's his genuine voice and not auto-tuned. But I am a Kanye song and I love when he sings it because it's his raw emotions that went into that song and that makes it beautiful.
Jonas's vocals are auto tuned also LOL. His pitch is no where near that perfect this is not his "raw voice" any music producer can hear the pitch correction.
This is an amazing version, I just love this cover. Not to disrespect the original version or Kanye but I love this one so much better. No autotune, just simple, so authentic and powerful.
Oh this is 100% still autotuned it's just not as heavily as Kanye's, if you listen closely you can hear the artifacts all over it, like when he says "rain" or "road" the way the pitch slides up is because of the autotune, I mean it's not a bad thing almost every singer uses autotune it's just Kanye is using it as an effect to define the sound of his song and Jonas is using it for pitch correction
theres autotune there, its just not as heavy, like 5% autotune while kanye may use like 25%. most singers use autotune for "slight" adjustments on curtain notes and words. but obviously nick jonas can sing.
There's still autotune haha it's less defined than Kanye's but this is what autotune sounds like on most pop songs, it's not a problem it's just to salvage a perfect take so recording doesn't take so long but autotune is standard in commercial music and you can hear it all over this track, Nick Jonas probably had nothing to do with that decision either
As I lay me down to sleep I hear her speak to me Hello 'Mari, how ya doin'? I think the storm ran out of rain, the clouds are movin' I know you're happy, cause I can see it So tell the voice inside ya' head to believe it I talked to God about you, he said he sent you an angel And look at all that he gave you You asked for one and you got two You know I never left you Cause every road that leads to heaven's right aside you So I can say Hello my only one Just like the morning sun You keep on risi
Ms. Alisiamaria It kinda saddened me to find that Kanye didn't write it. It takes a lot of the REAL emotion out of the song. Of course there is still some though.
+Alfonzo Jones maybe so. but the whole time I heard kanye's I was like dang I wish he could really sing tho lol. its like prince w the song " nothing compares 2 you " prince had the pain but then O'Connor really did the song justice w her voice.
+Rita Ann Kanye can sing. Listen to the iTunes or Spotify version not the music video. Also just so you know Kanye didn't write the song. Paul McCartney wrote it and it's supposed to be the perspective of kanyes mom talking to him but Kanye made it a song for his daughter. Some confusing shit but point is Kanye can sing
Alfonzo Jones Actually Paul McCartney wrote it. Kanye just sang it. Just because you put your heart and soul into a song, doesn't make it better. It just means it has a personal effect on you. What makes a song good (specificly singing) is when you not only sing with your heart and soul, but also sing well. If you truly want to put your heart and soul into something you want to be good right? Maybe even the best? So overall...you need both for it to actually be considered good.
This version is beautiful but I still prefer Ye's one. I don't know, it's like I can feel the pain as if he is about to cry. Anyways both versions are beautiful. Thumbs up all the way 😃
reason why your opinion is not needed because the song is more than its auto-tune. if you're too fixated on the auto-tune you won't truly appreciate the song
Kanye West has proven on several occasions that he does not need autotune. He is avant garde and uses it in a tasteful manner. Very much like how T-Pain has proven he is an outstanding singer without it. Y'all need to learn how to appreciate Kanye.
Austin Do Don't get me wrong, it is a great song, which is why I like both versions, I just like this one a little more because there is no auto-tune because I don't like auto-tune in general
Kanye's use of autotune is absolute perfection. Too many ppl view autotune as something that makes your voice "better". Autotune is a form of artistic expression, and Kanye uses it in the original song to distort his voice/sound less human, NOT to sound better.
Obviously the nick Jonas version is going to be better sound wise, as nick is a actual singer and Kanye is a rapper. However, Kanye's is much more heartfelt as you can the emotion in his voice, even through all the auto tune. Both versions are amazing though.
This song cover is amazing. Vocally this is better than the original because Kanye is no singer lol. But the song was written by Kanye from his moms perspective so that's what makes it's beautiful/better.
Problem with this song is that the lyrics are so specific to Kanye that it makes no sense coming from anyone other than Kanye Edit: actually it might make sense from a female black vocalist who captures the essence of Donda's persona, but I don't think that would work better

+Brittany Busco his grandfather past away at that time when he covered this song so he can connect with that song too
Brittany Busco A person doesn't have to have the exact same situation or feelings from a song to connect with it. For instance...

malik wright 100% right, nick is a much better vocalist then kanye, but kanye makes up for it with his emotional connection to this beautiful song.
This is an awesome version but check out James Anderson's version and compare
Nick has such a beautiful voice
Good cover, but I will always love Kanye's version. The lyrics came from his heart and I just don't think any covers can portray the same emotion.
Hence it being a cover.... Of course the original is better

Overly autotuned. I can't do his robot voice.
I love Nick Jonas and this cover is the bomb! I officially love this song and must listen more and more....
Yassss nick come on!!👏🌀
'As I lay me down to sleep
I hear her speak to me
Hello 'Mari, how ya doin'?
I think the storm ran out of rain, the clouds are movin'
I know you're happy, 'cause I can see it
So tell the voice inside ya head to believe it

Oh the good outweighs the bad even on your worst day
Remember how I'd say

So can you understand? One day you'll understand
So hear me out, hear me out
I won't go, I won't go

He's literal perfection 😍😍😍
I love this version it makes me miss my mom everytime I listen to it ...put it on iTunes cuz I need this

beautiful
I love this
This is an amazing version, I just love this cover. Not to disrespect the original version or Kanye but I love this one so much better. No autotune, just simple, so authentic and powerful.
No autotune? so you are telling me he could sing this exactly like this every time?
yes
Oh this is 100% still autotuned it's just not as heavily as Kanye's, if you listen closely you can hear the artifacts all over it, like when he says "rain" or "road" the way the pitch slides up is because of the autotune, I mean it's not a bad thing almost every singer uses autotune it's just Kanye is using it as an effect to define the sound of his song and Jonas is using it for pitch correction

Kanye used a vocoder not autotune
this song is just so romantic and it makes you just wanna listen to it while cuddling in the winter with rain outside❤
I'm not a fan of a Nick Jonas. Really, at all. But this is great. Kanye's awesome lyrics, with Nick's natural cool vocals. This an awesome cover.
Such a marvelous cover.
Amazing, true artist.
Let's not forget the true artist that wrote the song
Paul McCartney
I didnt Forget.
Ok good. I was worried. lol jk
Kanyes the artist

nocturnezero You Know Shit about Music and Producing and Mixing Acapellas

You are amazing ✨
Really impressed with this version. I enjoy the Nick Jonassy moments with his occasional falsetto and i want to say slight raspy/ pop sounds..
i can finally hear every word clearly
Alguien escuchandola en el 2020
This is amazing!!!
J'aime beaucoup 😉
I love the song chains thx for it ❤❤💘😊😀
aaaakkkk!!!! this is so good
its the best.
them eyes 😍
This is the best version of this song I've heard. Nick Jonas is the man #respect
Kanye is the true artist dedicating it to his mom and wrote it for his mom
Ms. Alisiamaria Well...not quite.
Paul McCartney Wrote it. Kanye just sang it.
Ms. Alisiamaria It kinda saddened me to find that Kanye didn't write it. It takes a lot of the REAL emotion out of the song. Of course there is still some though.
@@aaronymous1996 Nope Kanye wrote this song. Paul himself says that in an interview
😍🎶
love his voice oh MAGOD
Nick Jonas is amazing and has been amazing. I honestly love this better than the original, no disrespect to Kanye, but I love Nick Jonas!!! 😍
This is Heaven ❤G.Ann🎇🍾💋🍹🌃🍾
He was always the cuter brother
That is what my mom said
That's what my sisters always said
lmao facts. I had a major crush on him when I was like 9.
+Melissa Moronta "when I was nine" 💀💀💀like Guh he still my major crush💀💀💀
they all cute
Every day when i wake up i put this song.
Kanye not a singer hes a rapper but its the message this song is sending not about how much auto tune is used its still a beautiful song and mesage
nice
I am a massive fan of both artists, but sorry Nick :/, i found love for Kanye's version. He had a lot of emotion on his track.
You guys should try listen to Conor Maynard's version. It's magnificent
I love Kiana's
Hope your family is doing well! Cheers!
I can't find this song on iTunes 😩
Cause it’s Kayne West song
No one can obviously beat the Original. But this is a pretty good rendition. D
really nice version. :D XoXo
hey eunice r u listening to this
cool
Bae 😍🎧
I think Nick did really great because Kanye sang it from his heart so did Nick because his grandpa died.
Lindíssima versão mas com ou sem auto-tune ainda sinto mais verdade e emoção na versão do Kanye.
Everything sounds better when Nick sings it
Lol!!!!love it
no
Omg love you nick Jonas 😁😳🌈😪
You're too beautiful
💞 love this ..kanye & other artist sometimes write beautiful songs where it just fits another artist better vocally.
It is a great cover and does have better vocals, but Kanye's version is still better because of the pain he felt to make it
+Alfonzo Jones maybe so. but the whole time I heard kanye's I was like dang I wish he could really sing tho lol. its like prince w the song " nothing compares 2 you " prince had the pain but then O'Connor really did the song justice w her voice.

Aaron Smith actual Kanye wrote it based off a previous Beatles song
this picture of him in this video look like karl in the walking dead
This version is beautiful but I still prefer Ye's one. I don't know, it's like I can feel the pain as if he is about to cry. Anyways both versions are beautiful. Thumbs up all the way 😃
This is better than the original but really only because Nick doesn't need auto-tune, his voice is already good :P

Ayan Hange pls define art
Nick Jonas 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
It's hard because in don't like how Kanye sounds, but will always love the songs and the message.

Love this than the original 😍😍
2018
Better than the original
Cap
nether heard this one
Problem with this song is that the lyrics are so specific to Kanye that it makes no sense coming from anyone other than Kanye
Edit: actually it might make sense from a female black vocalist who captures the essence of Donda's persona, but I don't think that would work better
how come no one does the tell nori bout me
the song is for Kanye's mother from Kanye's mother. Kim said that in kuwtk. At the end of the song it says "tell Nori about me" it's like Kanye's mother tells Kanye to tell little Nori about her grandmother :)
I understand that i just don't get why people don't say and instead ignore it or change it
So much better than the original. In my opinion if you're going to be a singer, you shouldn't need auto tune. This is more authentic and lovely
this is autotuned
