"Meanwhile another bird is watching and learning..."
*extreme close up of calculating eye*
Woah. Robobird
Lol I also thought about that! RoboBird mode activated
"cheep choop"
LOL
So the government is spying on us!
Now that we know that these are descendant from dinosaurs, and very intelligent considering their small brain size, makes you wonder how smart a TRex really was. Imagine one of those homeboys using some clever deduction on how to make you breakfast.
A kea robbed a bank in my town last week.
No way in mine as well!!!!!
From robbing a bank and hotwiring a car, the kea then went to the shooting range
@@Valhalla_Heathen where it attacked a lert.
Musta been in Rotorua, seeing that the bird was the most intelligent life in town.
A kea hacked my computer.
Before the guy completes the phrase "...would test the intelligence of a child..." the bird is already eating.
The guy?
He is just a guy to someone who doesn’t know his name lol
@@d.cent1326 no, he is just a guy to uncultured swine.
@Dovyeon
Sir David Attenborough.
I've knighted many people. None became famous. Must be using the wrong sword..
The smartest bird watched and let the other bird do all the work.
Years later the bird couldn't think for itself as it was always imitating others!
Nidhin Jacob.
Precisely.
@UberKrassMann that's what a kid with no friends say...
Stfu 9 yr old....
UberKrassMann Stop projecting.
😂🤣
Absolutely gorgeous birds. Beautiful, intelligent, ingenious and their vocalisations are too cute for words! :)
Don't be fooled! These birds are vicious! Cameramen were lucky to make it out alive!
A Kea tore a hole in my lambs ba k and preceeded to eat her alive.
These things can be Brutal.
now go to an abortion clinic and say the same with a straight face please
Not to mention their love for butter.
They kinda look grumpy
The Kea uses complex thought to figure out a sequence to remove locks.
*Kea* annoyed knocks wood off rubbish bin
1:56 .. didnt expect BBC to do scene like that
This one has a false link, don't go to it.
The second bird did a speed run after watching the walk through 😂
1:42 damn listen to that 'whump', that's one beefy bird 😲
hes a thicc boi
they add sound effects to these videos you know. not much of these sounds are actually from the video and they think it wouldn't be as entertaining without sounds so they make them.
Smart ass bird. After watching him doing that so quick, I'd give him the whole tub of butter! Man, very intelligent birds.
yes very intelligent and love to vandalise cars at ski field its so funny watching them letting tyres down and removing the windshield rubber the resorts now employ people to keep watch over the carparks to deter the mischievous keas.
@@darrens7040 Well, they do love to chew on rubber.
I love kea & have been simultaneously lucky and misfortunate enough to have many encounters with them.
They are incredibly intelligent & have clearly adapted to human interaction. They are really only found in small mountain towns, like Arthur’s pass.
The locals have a huge respect for them and there are always old weird country dudes who like try to train the kea
Not just the exquisite BBC Earth cinematography, but David Attenborough's excellent background monologue make these nature videos well worth watching any time. Thanks to all the producers whose time and effort goes into making these nature vids instant classics.
Please don't let these birds Die off amazingly cool birds thanks for the vid
Government has killed them all with 1080!
@Luke Adair Kea birds are endangered
Oddly enough, if you want to prevent them from dying out the best method is to create a domestic population. That will ensure they never die out. As parrots, it also should be relatively simple to do.
I dont wanna be alone anymooooooore 😔😔😔😔😔😔😔
Look up trash Pile in ocean and you guy's know who's going to really die off ha ha ; )
I will never forget the cheeky keas I met during my ski holiday in Queenstown more than 25 years ago. Absolutely delightful, mischievous birds.
Butter is also a favourite treat of mine.
Hahah I love that snap zoom on the eye with the chess game playing out in the reflection
Yeah I laughed really hard at that lmao.
so complex
Dang, he’s kinda strong
fighting/flying type for real
And smart

Rachel TheOldSchoolDiva yeah & he doesn’t even have arms! Imagine if he did... (I’m picturing those bird with arms gifs haha)

I should hire this parrot to help me move out of my family’s house 💪🏻
Devuelvan el loro!
Dedosdemanteca pero lo necesito! Jeje 🤣
They’ll move your stuff out but they might also rip the house apart for fun while doing it.
Clever girl...
Velociraptor? Haha. Their cleverness doesn't seem so farfetched after seeing stuff like this.
Worst part is they're testing the fence systematically for weak spots...they're learning

Me: Ok
Now that is a nice parrot.
Sunclief they are but you should be aware that they are omnivorous and have been known to eat livestock like sheep
@@Dell-ol6hb Sheep carcasses, not live sheep.
Reason nah they’ve been known to eat live sheep too, there are even videos of this happening just look it up, they take chunks of flesh of the sheep’s backs
Jesus Christ what? What kinda comparison is that? And I sad be aware that they are omnivorous not that they are to be bewared.
Jesus Christ lol I’m happy that doesn’t happen anymore, sorry if I may have came off as a bit aggressive, that wasn’t my intent
Brits call them "wheelie bins." I have never witnessed a language be so sophisticated and so adorable all at once.
Wait, what do you call them? Here in Australia we call them wheelie bins too.
@@MrMuel1205 Garbage cans. We don't have a specific term for them that I know of. Maybe in other parts of the USA.
@@brigidtheirish see the word can, to me suggests something made of metal and cylindrical. These are plastic and sort of rectangular.
@@MrMuel1205 Yeah, I think 'bin' is a better term in this case, but I live in the USA and I have a hard enough time convincing some people that I was actually born here as it is.
That's a funny name for a parrot.
Wow. They don't even hesitate. You can tell they know in advance what needs to be done and then they perform the actions. Remarkable
They must be strong as hell for their size

Yes, we are all this clever in New Zealand; both man and beast
Indeed. I am a house cat, from Wellington, writing this message; proof of his claim.
case hulsebosch here, have your piece of trash can bread, you smart Kiwi.
Those birds are smarter than some people I know
Birds are totally underestimated creatures. They are whip-smart. They have to be to survive.
I agree
never seen a "dumb" bird, ever. Lately watching someone raised a goose from an egg. Growing up so fast, strong, and very protective.
Keas are so cute
If only people learnt this well at work ;)
When the payment is good they do

Nice dreams you have there
A kea as a pet would wreak havoc in the home.
The plop they make when jumping off of the stick makes me smile for some reason.
5 kea were dismantling two cars when my mates and I finished our hike yesterday. Cheeky!
these and ravens are the coolest birds
6 years later, but this may look like a raven, but it is not. It's a parrot!
He didn't say they were ravens. He basically said that both keas and ravens are cool
I know some humans who would struggle to solve that logic puzzle.
OMG I LoVe these adorable, cheeky birds❣ They are amazingly clever💜& deserve to be protected💕forever 💖🤩
I have a relatively difficult test coming up in university, control loop engineering, I bet this kea could do it.
Very good!
I think people are coming to appreciate that birds are more intelligent than was once thought.
On the Milton Trail there was a Kea (called Charlie) who used to appear when the guided tours stopped for a mid morning snack at 'The Bus stop' He'd wait in a tree, and as soon as somebody left a sandwich alone for a few seconds he'd be in there!
george becali
Just because a bird has a band on his leg doesn't mean the bird is tame. Naturalists do capture tag all the time. Please Google before spreading ignorance. There's too much of that on UA-cam already, wouldn't you agree?
George becali The New Zealand DOC (Department of Conservation) tag wild keas in the wild and let them go instantly. It's a way of tracking the species' population - they are classified as VULNERABLE so need be to tracked and monitored in this way. If the kea is dead they can locate it and do an autopsy to find out why.

keas are smarter than most people who comment on youtube
Everyones an intellectual on youtube
Well said
Nicecupofteandasitdown describes keas as parrot-based fauna which eat windshield wipers. :)
Wow! Snowing, freezing cold, obstacle courses, math problems, construction...
Who you callin bird brain🤓?
The bird hasn't discovered "foostamps" yet.
has anyone seen the home assembly online version? the ikea
This is exactly how I met 4 keas when I was on garbage duty at Mt. Cook hostel in 1983. They are beautiful!
I bet they wish they hadn't shown their intelligence now - now they have to solve a puzzle just to get a bit of butter.
Vow,
What an intelligent n strong bird.
It's a well known fact that parrots are extremely smart but they still manage to suprise us from time to time ♡
This bird has more brains than 30% of humans walking this planet
30%? That's being generous.
@@calebmoull6081 You beat me to it! 👍👏😂
Kea bird: robs bin
Ibis: "Finally, a worthy opponent, our battle will be LEGENDARY!!!!"
While teaching skiing at the resorts in NZ I was around these birds every day, they are incredible creatures, you only have to see the way they look at you to know they are smart.
They could unzip jacket pockets to get sweets from inside and pretty much love anything chewy. They can work as teams and would strip the rubber off cars in the car park. I even saw a bus driver make the mistake of leaving the door open one day... They trashed the inside.
Wonderful birds but so mischevious.
Awesome muscle birbs pushing those logs haha
(Later the bird goes off to eat chunks off a car)
Narrator: Damnit, I'm trying to convey how intelligent you are!
Love seeing them up Arthur's pass then immediately regret stopping as I watch them steal my cars wiper blades
1:58 when you beat your brother at connect four...
It’s really cool how intelligent those parrots are. I think they can outsmart a human.
That,s a very low bar!
when i was in NZ i was nerly mugged by them , one of them stole me hat and while i was distracted 2 other tryed to open me backpack......
My*
just grab them and throw em to the ground. That's what I do when geese try to assault me.
Haha !! That's about right.
@@jamesklark6562 not sure if that's a good idea with Kea, their beak is pretty sharp...
@@rattyeely and?
Kea’s, they’re just so cheeky. Birds are some of the most intelligent animals.
That's a very, very intelligent species! Upon my first glance, I thought that it was a hawk. The nose and eyes look almost just like a hawks.
Has to be the most intelligent bird ever.
The real smart bird was the one that waited for the first one to do the hard work
This birds will be a good troops in raiding area 51
wow super intelligent parrots, small but thinks big!
Now we just need to make a movie of this:
I, Kea
Why I love parrots so much
crows and parrots will never cease to amaze me
Сообразительная птичка.
Birds like butter? I had a parrot, never even thought of giving him butter.
If I let him, my bird would devour a stick of butter or cream cheese. And he always homes in on the fattest part of meat and fish. And breaks chicken bones to find the fatty marrow. 😃
I adore birds like these .. ravens too are sooo smart. ☝️🤓
Fascinating! Best not refer to stupidity again as "bird brain" LOL
Indeed! 😂
Strong and intelligent.
These birds are amazingly clever, I love them!
can you imagine their dinosaur relatives....
@IronCurtainPrepper. They are not just related, Birds are dinosaurs, The Internet is an amazing piece of technology, just take a few minutes to look it up!
@IronCurtainPrepper. Don't be an ignorant fool, it is well known scientific consensus that bird's are avian dinosaurs. Iol "10 people with theories" Next you're going to tell me the Earth is flat, and We're all Descendants of Adam and Eve and all that horse shit!
@IronCurtainPrepper. PS, stay off of Wikipedia, It is a last place I would ever send anybody to look for any kind of factual information!
Right!
@IronCurtainPrepper How do you know what dinosaurs looked like? Wait... do you have a time machine?
It has a lot of common sense for a bird and a wild bird ;-;
An AWESOME bird!!!
I love the bird with the chess eyes.
Love Parrots....they're like flying dogs.
Rats are just as smart & depending on the dog, possibly smarter🐀
BEAUTIFUL.
ah New Zealand, such interesting birds you have!

I love their calls, so cute, sounds like a cartoon :)
Very clever Kea and strong too. Thank You!!!!!

Soon, birds will be calculating the exact value of pi and e and even create numbers humans struggle to understand!
Not just smart, but really strong too. Those logs can't be lightweight for an animal of that size.
I've never seen a young child work that hard.
......ten years later we know it's common stuff with birds. The wheely bins had to be redesigned at our lilydale railway station cos the crows were opening them and pulling everything out.
