    Michael W. Masters is the founder and chairman of the board of directors of Better Markets, Inc., a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes the public interest in financial reform in the domestic and global capital and commodity markets. He is also the founder and managing member of Masters Capital Management, an investment management firm.
    In 2010, Mr. Masters founded Better Markets (www.bettermarkets.com) as a way to professionalize the efforts he began making in early 2008 to promote the public interest in transparency, accountability and oversight in the financial markets. Better Markets board members and staff have deep experience in US policymaking and legislative processes, economic research and analysis, and financial management. They have consulted and advised regulators in the US, the UK and Asia on financial reform issues. Mr. Masters, along with David Frenk, authored two papers, Anthropic Finance: How Markets Function, and Balanced Markets: The Social Role of Markets. Speaking out about the farreaching
    harmful effects of unregulated commodities speculation and the need for financial reform, Mr.
    Masters has testified before many congressional committees and government agencies. He recently addressed attendees at the 2012 OPEC International Seminar in Vienna, Austria.
    Mr. Masters has appeared in media outlets around the world, including, ABC, CBS, PBS, CNBC, BBC, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post and Bloomberg. He has addressed numerous consumer, corporate and academic groups around the world. Mr. Masters serves on the boards of several charitable and private organizations. He is a 1989 graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he was an All-American swimmer. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, Suzanne, and their three children.
