Genuinely love the way you still say 'on tape' :)
It's kinda heartwarming and nostalgic.
This is really cool! I’ve always thought that 3D captured video memories are the future! Glad you got to capture some special family memories this way!
Thanks for including the demo clip, that is HUGE to see the quality on a real file that is not UA-cam compressed.
This is exactly the product I was waiting for
Thanks so much for making the effort to create and upload the file so we can view it! While I love the 3D effect it would be nice if the video itself could be cropped to rid it of the undesirable artifacts at the top and bottom of the picture. Can’t wait to see how all of this develops!
There are already clips of apple vision pro videos shot on iphone, which seems the most affordable option and the quality is realy good. The UA-camr Hou or Huo is into cameras and published the videos using ai we might also be able to generade 3D videos from 2D videos in the future.
Love the idea, but for $2000, they definitely need to add some sort of stabilization tech (gyroscope?) to the camera. Not a technical person, beyond being able enough to follow the dots to put together a working desktop, butI have vivid and unfortunate memories of some of the tourist 3D videos you could see in the Quest 1, and how shaky and nausea-inducing they could be, even with the camera person using a tripod.
I watched some of those newer videos fairly recently (l love seeing the sights of famous cities in 20-second 3D chunks 😉), and the difference in how smooth they are is night and day, so it must be possible.
Anyway, interesting and intriguing video, Tetiana; I love the idea of this tech (hopefully) becoming more accessible to "reular folks" as time goes on.
Good to see you in this New Year--and your baby is ADORABLE!...❤
I agree, there needs to be something to stabilize this! I thought I was pretty smooth when I was walking with it in the park but then… 🤢
Thanks for watching! ☺️
there are lots of handles that have attachment points that do the stabilization. That being said, yes, for $2000 it should already have said device at the least if not a software feature already present
Thats just awsome. I really see alot of use with this. Its high time this comes to consumer market. Thank you for this great info. I see how this can be super emotional
Top, I’m looking forward to the 3D revival
With developer mode on and a few adb commands you can shoot 3d video on the Quest 3. Google is your friend. Thanks for the video.
In the USA shooting at 50fps can result in flicker indoors depending on the lighting.
It's great
Thank you so much for the informative video, and for providing a real-life demo of the VR 180 to test the quality. The price is a bit steep for me (consumer, not a professional), so for now I may stick with my Fuji Finepix W3 and Insta360 EVO. I'll also be keeping an eye out on the Canon concept 360° & 180° 3D VR Camera. It could potentially replace my Insta360 EVO.
They have a calfvr app, it's kinda like tiktok but in vr.
I just love 180 3d. Shame most manufactors stopped creating those camera's. Even insta360 last 180 3d camera (evo) never got an update. It was good not perfect. But around 500 bucks for 5.7 k 30 fps. But 2000 bucks? Same as a rtx 4090. Hope more camera's got released. Even Canon is in 180 3d.
I have Vuze 360 stereo camera which does the same but records every direction and stereo. It has 8 cameras pointing to 4 directions.
I ended up using Insta360 X3 camera as it is lighter and easier to use. So stereo images/videos are not as important as I tought originally.
i was waiting for a decent VR180 as an upgrade to my Insta360 EVO which can only record at 5K30. I was looking for a decent 6K60 camera and I was watching the CALF for a while, but unfortunatelly it can only record in 6k50, which simply cannot be played back without stutters, since the headset player needs to interpolate the frames for the native refresh rate. The Quest 3 can play back at 120Hz, so the framerate should be at least 60fps to get a smooth video. I also think the CALF ist too expensive, it should be around USD 1000,- in my opinion.
Interesting that they dont actually shoot the real VR180 format, they are shooting more like a full frame fisheye, sort of like a gopro field of view and just giving up on the extreme edges, which is what I would also do since nobody really needs to see your shoes or the ceiling tiles. Super wide is still plenty wide and you get so many more pixels on the important stuff. Way way way overpriced, but this is what is what we really want. No stabilization and $2000, thats nutty. I know because I have all the 3d cameras practically ever made. Direct competitors like the ZCam K1 pro, E1 and E2 synced, plus some custom stuff. This camera should be right at the $800 price point for sure. I know its a rare product, but two 1/2.3" sensors, come on, that is what the gopro hero 4 had 12 years ago. I know its a better sensor yada yada, but still. At this point one inch sensors have to be the way to go. 50fps is nice. So, the struggle continues.
I apologize, this is an automatic translation. 😁
Has anyone shopped on their website recently? Do you have any experience with that?
Vuze XR and Insta360 EVO released almost 5 years ago, they cost 1/4 of price of this one, and still offer 6k 30fps. On top of that they can capture 360 spherical panorama videos.
I could see myself getting one of these in a heartbeat if the price was lower.
Hopefully they get cheaper soon
Doyou know what the sensor size is? I can't find any info online. I know the zcam has m4/3 which would be great for lowlight.
What keeps these camera lenses from getting destroyed in sunlight like VR headsets do?
$1400 OMG. I really miss my Fuji W3 stereoscopic camera, but it died many years ago
Could this be used to capture your home environment and upload it to Metaverse platforms like Banter or VRChat?
Not sure if most ppl knows that if you cross your eyes and line both sides up you can see this in 3D. Much discomfort and only a hint of what you see in VR.
wrong, crossing your eyes would give you the inverted effect. you have to look at it like looking at a magic eye puzzle to see the correct 3d effect
@2D-rd4lu the only other way I can merge it into 1 is by trying to look past the image but that made it a blurry mess on this video. I'm not sure what other way you're speaking of.
How is this better than the Vuze cameras of a few years ago?
2k for a stactic view 3D camera is rough.

Mount two 4k 360° cams to a steady-grip about 6" apart and record videos in true VR
I'd rather just use dual Black Magic URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF cameras just for easier downscaling and the maximum cap being 12K. Expensive though... just the camera...
price jumped from about 1k to 2k after kickstarter.... otherwise i would have bought it.
Nice work! I have the Canon R5 w/ VR Lens and there is some value in having complete control over what is recording. I also have a spatial-microphone for recording surround sound.
I wouldn't buy this $2000 camera because I think it's $1000 overpriced. It's a brick, unlike my Canon which has a hand-grip, and it lacks the functionality of a professional camera even though it is priced very high like a professional camera. It is easier to use, but I prefer the interchangeable lenses on my Canon R5.
The Apple must be using a technique to reduce camera shake by cropping far into the frame, smoothing the movement, and then upsizing that to 180 degrees again. Therefore, with the Apple you will likely be closer to the action but with lower resolution. That's okay because Apple has very high resolution and the result would probably look something like Calf VR or Canon R5. So, yes, I use Adobe Premiere Pro CC to smooth videos and Apple can use the same technology.
I'm really glad you made this video because VR is much more than just headsets. It's video codecs, Unreal engine technology, haptics, and innovations that change VR. I'm a little unsure why Apple made a headset now, but it will definitely move the industry much more quickly so buckle up! Things are about to change faster than ever.
What software can you use to edit it?
I haven’t edited them, but I’m sure you can in Adobe Premiere Pro or some other popular video editor
I'm trying to understand why you need this when the Insta 360 X3 already exists at a lower price, more maneuverability and fantastic editing software included?
Its full 360 so its a VR experience with you at the centre. Its like reliving the event. I'm sure you will enjoy the videos on UA-cam showing the creative use of the product. Its amazing for 2D video also.@@mrtonyvillagomez
I really don't get how apple vision pro will capture 3D video without causing nauseousness due to motion when played back in the headset... Tripod and static shots are the way to go with 3D video! You can still be creative by making several shots moving the camera to new positions, and capture many facets of the experience
If you were to watch a non-processed video, then yes it would be in shaky-cam. But to prevent this, the process is to zoom into the frame and then adjust every frame to the most average position, and then when you watch it the video will be smooth. You can do this with any video, but it lowers the resolution because you're removing quite a bit of the information by zooming in. However, the Apple Vision Pro resolution is so high that it won't really even matter. It will just look good.
Next time start with the price so I can stop the video 🤭
"Side by side 3d" "NO IS "3D REAL".
Better if you have a iphone 15 pro max .
@@Wolf0103true, it's flat 3d. But if you have the iPhone already it's not bad looking in quest (using 4xvr). Hugh Hou has a 3d video with footage on UA-cam (watch in UA-cam VR or skybox) if anyone is curious about how it looks
The lenses on the iPhone are so close to eachother that the 3D will feel off
This device, with an IPD of 65, will have much more realistic/natural depth. And 180° is a bonus as well
But yeah for $2k an iPhone is definitely more cost-effective
I hear that the Vision Pro is HEAVY 👀. In VR, comfort is a must or else it’s just a waste of money. Great video, Disco! 👍
Heavy compared to what type of HMD do you usually use or would like to use? Like VISOR "slim" or MeganX "slim" around the eye socket, or like AR glasses?
@@TJM-2023 that’s not what one of the top UA-cam channels were saying. But hey, it’s not my money that people are spending..
@@ROCKETKNIGHT-ph7xp Well, maybe it's more of a case that it *Feels* heavier. I think that a headset needs to be balanced or it will Feel front heavy. And with no back battery or top strap, that may very well be the case. Also, it *Is* heavier than the Quest 2&3, which is going to the most likely comparable headsets. All that said, it isn't that it is "heavy", but just that it isn't light and needs an accessory at purchase (which is the exact same thing for Meta headsets- just sell us the quality battery-headstrap at purchase guys!).
So I don't necessarily disagree nor agree. It is what it is.
Wow it was clearer then I expected for the price! People dont realize but good high end VR cameras coast $20,000 so really this is a steal. You should definitely do more VR videos!
