  • Episode 13 from the series 46 1 Corinthians - 2021 with Skip Heitzig. Watch the complete series: • 1 Corinthians - 2021
The gifts of the Spirit are diverse-varied gifts provided to meet the needs of different ministries-but each gift is given to believers "through the same Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:8). Spiritual gifts are the gateway, not the goal. God doesn't give a gift to fulfill the individual in the use of that gift, but for the edification of the body of Christ. In this teaching from 1 Corinthians 12, Skip Heitzig explains the differences between the gifts of the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge.
This teaching is from the series 46 1 Corinthians - 2021 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

I agree with Skip. When we share our gift. It can be a warning and or It helps someone to get closer to God. Our talents should also do this. Sharing them, should never be for selfishness reasons. Thanks Skip.

Can I preach the Spirit-given wisdom? couldn’t it be adding to the scriptures?

Hello Patrick, while there are plenty of verses about adding to the Bible and the punishment that comes with doing that see Revelation 22:18. Preaching from the Bible and sharing what is in the Bible is something God tell us to do! Mark 16:15 "
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."
Hope this helps! And thank you for watching Calvary Church online!

Thanks so much your answer! But, I was wondering, since wisdom is also a gift of the Holy Spirit, couldn’t there be our tendency to preach what the gift of wisdom has just given us? But I understand that the gift of wisdom can not go contrary to the word of God! If not, it’s adding to the scriptures.

Agree with everything except, God doesn't define "natural talents" as being separate from Spiritual Gifts. In fact, just the opposite. Yes, unbelievers can play music and paint a picture. However, so can unbelievers preach well, or be great organizers. They can even do miracles, tho Jesus will tell them He doesn't know them. But all good things come from God, and ALL souls are Created by God, so all Gifts are from God and given to all His created. If you are Gifted with arts and craftsmanship you should read Exodus 31, where God put his "Spirit" upon the workers and filled them with the Gifts of artisanship and craftsmanship. Yes, be at peace, you're talents ARE Spiritual Gifts from God. Including music, which is the only art next to singing that God conducts constantly in heaven. So, yes, your talent of music IS absolutely a Spiritual Gift. It is a Heaven Gift for goodness sake. And as Saved Christians your talents\Gifts are meant to Serve God and to draw the lost to YOU that you can lead them to Christ. These Gifts are also given as God sees fit. You can ask for them, but most are given by God from birth until death as needed for your ministry to the unsaved. Love to all, Wm
