This will make writing my bachelor thesis so much easier. I have two suggestions: 1) It's a good practice to include all links you use in the video in description or pinned comment 2) Can you render your videos in higher resolution? I have a 1080p monitor and I can barely see small letters due to youtube's video compression.

@@FedericoTartarini Is there a way to send variables from the python .py to the latex .tex? I got some results in my code and I want to put them in a table in the latex...
It's very interesting. Aside rendering the videos in 1080p, if it's possible, I'd like to suggest to increase the font size of the ide and text so that watching from a distant second screen or when someone splits the screen in two, it's not going to be shrinked too much.
Dear Frederico, thanks for this very nice tutorial. This looks extremely promising and time saving. I will give it a try on Ubuntu and let you know how it works for me! Best regards, Nico
Thank you so much for the nice feedback and for subscribing to my channel. I really appreciate it and it really means a lot to me. Let me know how it goes.

i dont have the aux folder nor the option for the path in the configuration tab (minute 19). also the latex distribution is empty for me eventhough i installed mitex last but not least how do i solve the errors that show for these german letters: äüö? i want to import a current latex projekt here
Some things have now changed and you can directly open the pdf inside pycharm. If you want to setup Sumatra please have a look at texify official documentation
Very informative video, thank you. However, I have trouble getting the forward search to work. Does anyone know of potential problems (either with Pycharm 2021.1 or else) causing this?
Appreciate your efforts on this but I could not get the main.pdf to display immediately as it does on your system. Many others have complained about this problem. Possibly a difference between Pro and Community? Viewing it manually outside of Pycharm is not practical. I entered the path to Sumatra in Pycharm after updating Windows Path, restarted PC, etc. Nothing works.
@@FedericoTartarini I prefer Python but have done Visual Studio. I do not want to make Latex documents but to show math inline in a Latex format. Math forums have this feature, where you can display parts of your comment in "math format". So, there is an "html" way to do it. I'm hoping to find a "pc" way. Thanks.
Visual studio code can be installed on any pc and it can also be used to write python code. It is an IDE like pycharm. Another solution is to install another distribution of latex and it should work well. Miktex has some issues.
You can also use a tool like retype to simply render math equations written in latex. It also allows you to create very beautiful static websites. It is super simple to use. I have a video on how to get started
@Federico Tartarini: I just downloaded the latest version of PyCharm; when I try to configure manually the compiler (like you suggest at 18:44) I don't get the "Directory for auxiliary files" and "Directory for output files". I just get two "Options": - Separate auxiliary files from output - Separate output files from source (disable this when using BiBTeX without MiKTeX) Is it something you get in the premium configuration of PyCharm?
Ciao Enrico, I am not entirely sure. I also have the latest version of PyCharm installed on my computer and I can see the same fields has I have shown in the video. Are you sure you have clicked on: "Add new configuration" the + at the top, and then selected "LaTeX"? I am using the professional version of PyCharm but I do not think the Community version should be different.
@@FedericoTartarini hey thank you for answering me soon. So yeah, I get in the same mask you get when I press the "+" button (Add new configuration) and select "LaTeX". I do get the options to mark or unmark, but I don't get the field to redirect the auxiliary files.
Okay, unfortunately I do not know how to help you with this error. Sorry for that. You should, however, be able to compile the document anyway even if you do not specify the path for the auxiliary files. Does it work?
Hi Enrico, I have updated to the new version of TeXiFy and now the field to add a "Directory for auxiliary files" is gone. I found a workaround. Just specify the "Directory for output files" and then in the BibTeX configuration set the "Working directory for bibtex" as the same directory you specified in the "Directory for output files". Th only issue with this is that you need to copy the "main.bib" file inside this folder too to make sure the code compiles correctly. This new change is very annoying.
The IDE should not affect the compiling speed since ultimately they only show you the source documents, while the documents are created using LaTeX. No I did not compare the performance of LiveTex and miktex. However, I have a video which shows some ways you can use to reduce the compiling speed.
Have you had any issues with Texify using too much memory in PyCharm? I have set the IDE to 6GB and it still is giving me High memory usage alerts. This only started after I installed the Texify plugin.
Thanks man, but might I ask. Windows has updated, and now Sumatra pdf doesn't show as a PDF viewer. For some reason. It was working perfectly before the update... How can I get it to work again ?
In my computer it is still working. Two workaround are: 1 - You can use the pdf viewer which is embedded in pycharm. The only issue with that is that when you click on the pdf you do not get redirected to the source code. 2 - compile the document in pycharm and then manually open the pdf with Sumatra. Then it should work as before. Please let me know if this works.
@@FedericoTartarini I did the second option and it is working . Thanks (: Got my pc to work and now I am trying to learn so python and stuff. Been actually struggling with windows lol, damn sometimes python just doesn't go with my face, on Ubuntu things were simpler relating to python, but my computer is just not happy with Ubuntu as there operational system( Acer computer ), got to a point that it wouldn't even boot wideout a grub error, and fixing it got really tiering. Some wheels just won't install like scipy on my windows, before was sympy, but I fixed it with the visual studios tools.

It is better to use latexmk and no need to create a separate configuration to the BibTex. It will automatically be done by latexmk. latexmk can automatically analyze how many times it needs to run latex to have correct citations.
Appreciate your efforts on this but I had serious problems with Miktex. (a) When getting updates, a conflict can arise between an individual and administrator. (c) When I tried to remove the app in Windows Control Panel it reminded me "You have not installed updates." I don't care about updates; I just want to remove it! Conclusion: Miktex does not behave properly as a Windows application. I have not seen those kind of problems with other apps.
