Gender-Affirming Care As Part of Anti-Oppressive Trauma-Informed Care with Wednesdae Reim-Ifrach

Wednesdae Reim-Ifrach, REAT, ATR-BC, ATCS, LPC, CLAT presents "Gender-Affirming Care As Part of Anti-Oppressive Trauma-Informed Care in a Sanctuary State" at the June 6, 2024 Trauma and Gender Learning Collaborative (TAG) meeting.
Wednesdae (they/them) is a trans/non-binary art therapist and fat activist whose work centers on body justice, intersectional social justice, and equitable eating disorder treatment. They co-own Rainbow Recovery, supporting gender affirmation, trauma recovery, and body image issues through art and talk therapy, and founded the first 2sLGBTQIA+ Eating Disorder Program. Wednesdae's unique approach blends art therapy with social justice and trauma recovery. They have showcased their work at MoMA and the Baltimore Museum of Art, presented at conferences, and served as a guest lecturer. Wednesdae also serves on the Board of Project HEAL, advocating for treatment equity in the eating disorder field.
The TAG Learning Collaborative is a bi-monthly meeting between representatives from DMHAS-funded agencies that promotes best practices in trauma-informed, gender-responsive behavioral health care by providing training, consultation, and information to behavioral health agencies across the state.
The Connecticut Women’s Consortium is a driving force in the education and training of the behavioral health community. Working collaboratively with nonprofits, state departments, and providers, we are committed to ensuring those providing care have the tools and support they need. We promote trauma-informed, gender-responsive care as a best practice that values understanding, empowerment, and safety for people struggling with behavioral health issues such as mental illness, addiction, and poverty.
