My great grandmother killed my biological great grandfather (Wife beater) about sixty years ago. My grandfather, the man that raised me, took all six of her kids on his shoulders. Then he raised my dad, and then he raised me. I've changed my last name to his out of respect and to carry on his legacy.
He was an amazing man - That said, I doubt I could be that good a person and that's an expectation I'd never have for anyone.

Most women are in the marriage and divorce for-profit business, and the average marriage ends at the 8-year mark. Son, the odds are against you. If you can't afford to buy 2 of everything and lose half (likely more) you can't afford marriage. How many times does the mother give blood during pregnancy? They can literally do a DNA test on the blood, which means you don't even have to wait for the baby to be born. This would solve so many issues.

As a 70 year old single mother, I would strongly encourage women to not do that. Adoption, adoption, and adoption, if you get pregnant . You're not capable of raising a mentally healthy child no matter how "strong " you think you are.
Almost all single mothers are single by choice, and mothers by choice. They made the decision to become pregnant, and they made the decision to be alone. This is true for the majority.

My wife has a friend that's a single mom and had a baby from an affair she had about 4 years ago with a married man. She and her kids will come over and she lets them act however they want but she'll yell at my two kids if they act up. Last time she was here, her two oldest were yelling and screaming. One of them tried to drag our dog around by the collar. I finally got tired of it and went off. I told them to sit down and shut up. I told them if either one of them got up that I would find yard work for them to do because they had too much energy. My wife's friend tried to chew me out and I told her that she and her kids were welcome to get out of my house. She told me she deserved respect and I laughed at her. I told her I would respect her when she could keep a guy. Her last boyfriend moved out without telling her but he left her a note. When she finally found him, he already had a new girlfriend and was happy.
I am dating a woman who is a single mom and after years am STILL walking on eggshells. The ONLY time I am alone with the kid is when I am playing taxi for her. She turns 21 in a few months, has no job, no drivers license, sits at home all day reading and watching TV and I am STILL walking on eggshells. All she has to do is get angry with me and WHAM! I am in prison for 8-10 for a crime I never committed.
Her bedroom is a mess and I cannot even comment "perhaps you should tell your kid to clean up that roach trap" will generate a "WHO DARE YOU CRITICUZE MY KID!!!!"
Maybe, if the kid ever grows up, I can relax but until then, my gf will never be anything other than a gf. And when I get that 'where are we going?' talk, if I mention, "no where so long as you daughter lives with you..." suddenly "I" am the bad guy.

I tried it out with a single mom with a daughter just going into her teens. When the mother finally got unbearable with her unprovoked violence, I decided to leave. The daughter said she would rather be with me. Mom didn't like that.
Not quite as bad but similar experience. That’s when you quietly leave. The daughter was heartbroken.

In my case, the daughter was treated like Cinderella by her mother and grandmother. Nothing the daughter did was ever good enough. She cooked a meal 🥘 which was okay. Mother and grandmother lambasted her. I told the daughter I liked it. Both the women then said I’d say anything to make her feel better.
