9.3 is an actual battle rating. I would be angry if i didn't had an actual spaa in there. The shilka has a goofy ahh grind (crusing speed at 20km/h on flat road) and if you don't have missiles you're just gonna get bombed from +4km above from strike aircraft with CCIP.
I wouldn't call it unnecessary at all. For 9.3, it'll be an excellent vehicle and there is some good vehicles to consider for that BR.
Gaijin needs to chill with modern AA. Strela is already hard enough to defeat.
Strela has way better missiles, shilka is pointless with iglas
@@cactuslietuvaI wouldn't say pointless as the Igla has better Flare Rejection and superior all aspect lock range. It also has a search Radar

This Shilka was needed about a year ago when Russia had the standard Shilka at 8.0 and the Tunguska at 10.7 - Russia was getting wasted by Air Power, only the BMP-2M was effective. This one fits with the Gepard1A2, the PGZ04a, Sidam 25 Mistral, Machbet very nicely
Well, for the 9.3 lineup its still a boon. 4 iglas is better than no iglas.

The og shilka is pretty bad, i would honestly argue it holds contender for worst SPAA at that br range
meanwhile at 9.7 sits swedens dogshit first samsite and it cant aim above 35 degrees 15gs and 4 km range
the M4 Shilka is the entire reason I was hyped for Alpha Strike and you took a big fat shit on it. oh well each to their own and you can't please everyone.

I would've been pissed if the modeled a completely new vehicle just to fill that small gap when there are huge AA gaps in other tech trees

@reinyfrost3753 usa desperately needs something too. Gajin needs too add more spaa and increase the rewards for killing planes in GRB. It's absolutely atrocious that I'll get 3-5 air kills using a spaa and barely have a higher score than a dude with a single assist.
A simple dodge u can just evade this missile, and cant lock on helicópters like the old strela ( now it has photosensibility seeker mode that helps a lot ) its ok for 9.3 if it had more 4 missiles to reload
9.3 one also has improved radar
If I'm not mistaken, the x-ray shows that the radar is exactly the same
@@ShorThunder It's probably true, but iirc irl this thing has improved radar and thermals for easier spotting, but I suppose that if they added that it would be 9.7 or smth.

the igla shilka was needed since strella-10 was moved up, russia has a decent lineup at 9.3 but only had 8.0 shilka as spaa, maybe s(hit)turm-s with proxy atgm, but has no radar and you have to spot enemy planes with limited elevation low-res thermals
to be honest the radar on the shilka is not that useful either. You will only spot planes with that radar if you are looking in their general direction. Of course every feature helps, but I usually spotted things with my ears, then my eyes when I was actively playing the shilka
