If you want to see what the pigs are about do the song "One of These Days" from the same concert. Also they used that pig floating above the audience when they play the song "Pigs, Three Different Ones" from their "Animals" album during live concerts and it flies above the audience. It's kind of like that euphemism "that'll happen when pigs fly" is the reason they used to have the Pig flying over people! Which basically means "pigs will fly"..... never!
I saw you trying to figure out what was going on. He was playing the opening on roto-toms. They're designed to be tuned while playing. So while he played a series of notes, he had each one progressively drop. He has to turn his hand at just the right rate for that to happen and be in key.

Loving this classic rock bands reactions. I wonder what you guys would think if you listened to these songs like mastered version instead of Live because those versions definitely sound higher quality and clearer and you get a better idea of the song itself.
It is clear you are enjoying quality rock performed by great musicians. Have a listen to the 1970 ( or maybe 1971 ) made for TV live performance of Child in Time by Deep Purple. Very different to Pink Floyd and no light show......but just as good.

Another great reaction and commentary. Pink Floyd and Rush are very cerebral bands...make you think about different things. Another great band that you might be more in your demographic, is Tool. They were influenced by Pink Floyd and Rush and some others...and their music is awesome!! Songs like Sober, The Pot, H, 46 and 2...and their new stuff like, Tempest, Fear Inoculum and Descending are songs you should check out.
In my opinion whenever you are experiencing a song for Pink Floyd for the first time. I believe it should be the original .. too many layers to be understood and have your mind around. .. "Original" !!!

I went to their Animals tour way back in the 70’s at a stadium venue. They flew the pig over the crowd. It was mind blowing.
