Very nice! I wish I’d have known this years ago, I’d been given a old pop up trailer that was trash and was thinking about turning it into a teardrop trailer but I like this trailer better! I no longer have the old tailor though!
nice lil version of the "ole sheep camp rigs" great job on your build! I own a "sheepcamp" from 1909 "pitchfork ranch" near "cody wy. just parked on permanent deck under a grove of quakies (quaking aspen) trees on our nevada ranch.. y'all just inspired me to take on your build! thanks for sharing.. ..happy trails...
Love it. What is the gap between the wall and the counter without the sink. Also love that you can roll up the roof. Any need for bug screen when roof is rolled up. Just a thought. Great clean build
Thanks for the question. I should have covered that in the video, and didn't realize it until your question. A folding table is stored there for eating and computer work.
That is really nice ! Do you realize that the H.F. trailor is not made for any kind of weight ? For your own saftey please weld the joints and repack the wheel bearings ! I really think that its cute and I would love to live in it but, on a real trailor not one made of stamped beams bolted together ! As for the covering where do you find it ? It is awesome looking and adds a lot of light in and in the night makes it glow ! That is cool ! Good luck with your trailor ! I think you have a winner !
Very very nice. I wish we had those Harbour Freight trailers available in Canada. It's at least $1200+ for anything close. Are the walls insulated at all?
Yes. I put 1" blue foam in the walls. If I were to use it in the winter I would install the double bubble silver mylar roll insulation. My shop is insulated with it, and it works well. It would be easy to remove the cover, staple the insulation, and reinstall the cover. In the old days they just used blankets. If you didn't like the look of the insulation, you could add unbleached muslin before the insulation, or printed indian throws.
Great job I have a question if you don't mind I'm new to this I'm trying to build something for my wife and myself to travel on lightweight such as yours my only question is with your canvas and it going down the highway do you have any trouble with the canvas or do you take it off as you go down the highway can you shed a little light on that by the way congratulations for getting it sold thanks for sharing
The top made it from Illinois to Colorado without tearing itself to shreds, but a vinyl top made for highway travel is available. It would be better in the long haul.
I am building something similar and I have a question for you.Did you have many bugs getting in at night, where the top meets the wall. Thanks in advance and you did an incredible job,I can only hope mine comes close.
Not a problem. I used 1" wide by 1/8" thick adhesive foam insulating tim on the top of the wall. The canopy is pulled tightly against it. It's water and insect tight.
Hi! I plan to build a tiny gipsy caravan to travel with my 3 donkeys. This is the only caravan I see that could have the perfect size and weight (the other ones I saw were far too big or did only have a couch). This would be exactly what I need! Question: how much did it cost? I thought I could build one with about 4000€/5000€ (I live in France). Other question: what are the sizes? As I will have to travel mostly on little roads it can’t be too large. Thank you for this video!
It cost about $3000. It's 4 ft; wide at the floor and 6 ft. 6 in wide above the wheels. It's 8 ft long and 6 ft 3 in tall. It weighs about 1100 lbs. You'll have to make the currency and metric conversions.
Sorry, no plans. Made it up as I went along, and you can, too. Search "bowtop camper plans" like this one: tinyhousefor.us/gypsy-wagons/build-your-own-collapsible-gypsy-wagon/ . Look at lots of them, then compile them into your own design.
I had a hard time selling this one. It cost me more to build it than I could sell it for in this area. It's a puppy. People think it's cute, but they don't want to bring it home.
Well then, do you have instructions that we can follow? I would not know where to start, as I am not a woodworker. My son in law is good with wood though. Maybe he would help me.
@@maricarbo Sorry, no plans. I never built anything like it before either. Start with a trail frame and improvise. These people sell plans: padtinyhouses.com/books-plans/ . I bought these plans that I used for a starting point: www.amvardo.com .
I don't have any plans, Jack. Kinda made it up as I went along. I have some construction photos. It's just a harbor freight trailer with a treated plywood floor, and sides made of Smartside siding. The faming is mostly 2x2s. The cabinets are standard kitchen cabinets.
you sure have a lot of space wasted in front of the wheel and behind the wheel to build out or make the camper bigger more room more places to store stuff what a waste
Good on ya Robert bloody beautiful done a good job hope U have many travels

I very much enjoyed your presentation. Nice work!
I really like that. Very creative. Great name! I’m sure the Doctor would approve.

Thanks. I'm jealous of your antique. You should give us a tour on youtube.
Pretty spiffy, I like it a lot. Thanks for the video.
Lots of good ideas here and a cool camper I just have to subscribe, these features will help me in my build.
Thanks. Go for it. If I can do it anybody can.
Thanks for sharing! Awesome use of a $250 Harbor Freight Trailer!!!! #TGBATG
I love the name! Good to see more whovians out there!
Nice job, really like the canvas roof
Great job love your work thanks for sharing
Very nice. I have a rougher version on my 5x8 Lowe’s carry all. I may incorporate some of your features on my next build.
Thanks. I'd be honored.
It's a more spacious alternative to a teardrop camper.
Love it! love the toilet feature!
Very cozy and down right cool 😎!
Beautiful!!! I imagine it sold quickly:)
Nope. Still for sale.
@@rwpresley its' worth every penny you're asking. Very nicely done. Superb! Great craftsmanship.
I want one! We are coming to get it. Don't give it away. It is great. !!
Love it what an amazing looking camper!
AWESOME JOB.. I LOVE THE TOP..
Cool little setup! Great job! 👍
Thanks. Pretty light duty compared to your camps.
Robert Presley you have definitely done your research. Pretty impressive
Very cool idea, thanks for posting!
VERY GOOD...FANTASTIC
This is cleverly designed...

It was just towed from Illinois to Colorado with no problem. Tough little trailers.
很好看
实用
简单
方便
希望有一天我也会拥有这样的家。。
谢谢分享
Love it. But hard to feel safe in that with soft top
Would a tent feel more secure?
Beautiful!!!
How does it haul down the road? Can it do 65 without loosing the top or getting tippy? It's beautiful!!
Thanks. It traveled from Illinois to Colorado with no problem.
Beautiful work...looks like a really nice space. Just curious...What made you decide to put the door on the tongue, instead of the rear?
Nice light Design....Lots of Buffoons building with 2x4's
Thanks. I wanted to be able to tow it with a Corolla.
How’s it tow? Do you get much wind resistance with that shape? It’s a beautiful trailer!

@@rwpresley thanks for sharing your project
Do you have building plans for this?
Super cool !
Fabulous. How did you get the timber to bow for the hoop shape?
Used strips of thin knotty pine wood paneling that bowed with no problem. No treatment.
@@rwpresley THANK You

What is the distance between the bump out on each side and the trailer bed? My guess is about 18 inches. Thanks.
Enough to make it 6'6" wide.
Thanks, probably should have written height from trailer bed to bump out.
Was the headroom at least 6' 1"? It's lovely to be able to stand straight without having to go outside.
It is 6'3" in the middle
@@rwpresley Great. Thank you! Was surprised to learn you'd never make another one. Did that have to do with transportation? No 80 mph?

Cute!
With the lightweight roof I'm surprised that this camper weighs over 1000 lbs.
Do you possibly have plans for this that I can purchase?

did you ever sell this little camper? it's really cute! ty for the video
We finally sold it for about what it cost to build.
glad you sold it, hopefully the person that bought it will use it & treasure it! @@rwpresley
do you have any plans???
Not really. I plan to never build another one. :-)
A Party or Whatever you like😜
Should have had a blue door for sure lol
do you happen to have a plan you would want to sell for the bow top?
Sorry. No plans for sale.
Are the walls insulated, or are the interior panels just up against the siding?
1" foam in the walls. 2x2 stud walls
Awesome thanks for the reply. I was wondering if 2x2 studs would be sufficient for my plans. Nice work, by the way.
Thanks. Lots of adhesive and deck screws.
Do you Make these to sell? It is a very nice camper!

What size of canvas did you use from Chicago Canvas?
9X12, I think.
Thank you! Like the trailer very much.
love it
Do you have any plans that you would like to sell showing how you built it?
I don't have any plans, Jack. Kinda made it up as I went along. I have some construction photos. It's just a harbor freight trailer with a treated plywood floor, and sides made of Smartside siding. The faming is mostly 2x2s. The cabinets are standard kitchen cabinets.
Thanks Robert, it is a beautiful trailer and design.
What about cooking?
A one burner butane stove.
Is this still for sale?
Yes
Where are you and the caravan located?
I'm potentially interested in purchasing if it's not too far away and the price is right
Carbondale, IL, in southern Illinois.
I wonder if it's legal to add 2 CAMPERS?HMMM
Have you sold?
Not sold yet. Price dropped to $4900.
wow, that's cheap!
it says 4700 in description up top.
Yes, finally. The Tardis is sold.
If we have two of it,
Set close to each other,
Cam creep to each other,
One sleeping, one kitchen and toilet,
I don't want any house...!
That would work in the summer.
Needs a tv
this can probably be pulled by a car, yes?
That's not a bow top. Maybe a sheep trailer. Not a wagon for sure...just a trailer.
Room for more unless you're antisocial. Otherwise cute.

Very neat!
