Here's a tip: you can put your torch on your animals saddle (parasaur, wolf, etc) to combat troodons too it just doesn't work on animals that don't require a saddle like the moschops or Dilo. I feel like these weren't new tips but helpful if you didn't know them.
The Argie beak grab trick for taming an otter works for Hesperornis (the ducks) as well since they both require the same feed-a-dead-fish passive tame technique. Hesperornis also have a chance to drop "Golden Hesperornis Eggs" when they lay an egg, and those will also produce Extraordinary Kibble and the ones that are not the Golden type can be turned into Oil. The fact that you can use fertilized eggs for kibble also means, on maps where there are Wyverns, you have a use for all those low level Wyvern eggs you come across trying to find that high level Wyvern you want. Turn them into Extraordinary Kibble. Better yet, all Wyvern varieties (except Alphas) are now breedable, so you just need a male and female Wyvern for that fertilized egg trick with the Yutys to produce Extraordinary Kibble as well. Best of all, the Incubator available on all maps (if you have the Genesis 2 DLC) tells you the critter's post-hatch stats before the egg hatches, so now instead of killing those disappointing breeding attempts and ending up with stacks of meat, hide, and wasted time from waiting for them to hatch, you know not waste time hatching the reject ones and use the rejected eggs to make stacks of kibble while trying to breed that perfect combination of stats.
Yeah, but you can't take the egg back out of the incubator to make kibble, can you? I thought you had to hatch or crack the egg once it's in the incubator.
I'm 5 months late but when I saw your comment about the easy way to tame the hesperonis, my jaw dropped. My friend made me tame it the absolute hard way. Can't believe I knew the Argy could pick up otters but for some reason I didn't think they could pick up a hesperonis. Smh. Thank you very much for sharing this info. I need to go tell my friend now.
Lasso does work with quetz and there's a complete list of creatures it works with on the wiki. Regarding torches you can also throw them and you can equip them to a saddle. Speaking of saddles. On mounts that have you hop off to one side when dismounting. If you hold down strafe for the opposite direction you will jump off in that direction (shows animation for jumping off normally but places you on the opposite side of the tame when the animation finishes). Where it regards the mammoth, that extra burst of water can also be used to stop burn damage. With bosses it's only really useful on valg for dragon. And even then not so much as mammoths are slow. You can also stop burn damage by jumping in water or drinking from a tek canteen.
