They've taken the design of Harley Mayenschein and copied it....so innovative, no. However, they have used great material and good construction methods. Certainly a winner in function over the plastic, delicate copies.
@@kevinfetner7983 Thank you for your insightful comments. There is no question that the original design was brilliant! However, since every patent expires after a maximum of 20 years (in the countries where a patent was registered) the original design entered the public domain more than 20 years ago, enabling fresh ideas and constant refinement - in other words - the natural evolution of a clever design. There are improvements in the current KinetiClocK that provide increased aesthetics, dependability, and longevity. These innovative features will be highlighted at kineticlock.ca (now online).

The arm always rotates at the same speed as the second hand on a normal clock. This video has been sped up in several places. Thank-you for your interest in KinetiClocKs, and for your question.

Idle-tyme is the original inventor/builder and the family still makes them to custom order from online. This guy who’s selling it above me here is a copy cat.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 You are correct that Idle-Tyme originally produced these clocks back in the 70's. In fact they are still available through their website. Their patent applied only in the USA, but when their patent ran out 20 years later, as all patents do, this made it possible for anybody to "copy" them. The original design is absolutely brilliant. There are however, a few areas that could be upgraded and I have incorporated several changes to this classic timepiece to improve its function and appearance. I hope this information is helpful to you, and thank you for your interest in my KinetiClocKs.
Maybe do this, when "Activate Defence" like, soundproof it, because maybe the noise right made u want to sell? When going out or sleep, lift the soundproof.

Joe. M KinetiClocK can't really be called a "knock-off". If it was, it would just be another clunky version thrown together with the cheapest materials, questionable workmanship, and shortcuts in fabrication, when compared to the original Original Idle-Tyme Rolling Ball Clock. KinetiClocK is NONE of that! Instead, KinetiClocK is the evolution of a tried and true concept from the 70's. The genius, novelty, and the fascination of the Original Idle-Tyme Rolling Ball Clock are all present in KinetiClocK however, design changes, fabrication methods, longevity, and appearance make KinetiClocK unique. For example, the rotating brass arm & claw mechanism is EXTREMELY STRONG and DURABLE. Not only can you actually TOUCH this innovative new claw mechanism, but a KinetiClocK can be PICKED UP by the brass claws alone! This action sounds extremely destructive, but it WILL NOT AFFECT the operation, accuracy, or WARRANTY of your KinetiClocK ! ! ! Also, the four brass pivot points are designed (1) to be accurate, (2) to be durable and (3) to last a lifetime. Current owners of an Original Idle-Tyme Rolling Ball Clock, horologists, collectors in general, and anyone who appreciates the beauty of natural wood and fine woodworking might be interested in a KinetiClock. Is it possible to build one of these clocks that uses golf balls instead of the small metal balls?
Yes it is absolutely possible, in fact, these have been built using golf balls, billiard balls, and the ultimate - 10 pin bowling balls!
