Been using the Note8 for less than 24hours now, upgraded from the Note5. Told myself I wouldn't upgrade until the Note9, but I switched carriers. So far the phone is amazing, screen is gorgeous, and the fingerprint sensor is no issue at all, not hard to reach. Really happy with my purchase!
Watching this on my Note 8. I agree that it is a king at what it does. You have to give Samsung credit fot their software. They've came a long way. I haven't seen lag on the modern lineups since my Note 5. I'm more productive with the S-Pen (even after the honey mood phase). Battery life? Here's a hint: I got 24 hours and 15 minutes during my first week with the phone. I'm more than satisfied with the dual cameras and I'm loving the portrait mode or live focus features that comes on. It's one of the best Android phones on the market now. I'd say it IS the best. PS- I don't hate the fingerprint sensor. I don't mind it. Sorry, Jaime, but I proved you wrong 😉
Brando My S7 Edge was unbearably laggy to the point where I just wanted to throw it out the window. But even with Nova launcher installed my Note 8 hasn't stuttered once. I love it.
Im a Note User since Note 2 till Note 7(sadly change to S7) Im planning to try iPhoneX because I feel like buying old phone anymore if I buy Note 8. No hate I just want to experience iPhone for the 1st tym.
Paulo Flores not really when I switched from note 7 to iPhone 7plus it wasn't bad at all way faster and in general easier to use no lags or crashes way smoother Only difference I really noticed was the screen was dimmer that is all
Jeffery Zigbuo what is there to learn iPhone is overpriced and overrated I just turn over on mine on my bed and.the screen broke. This phone here is a way better phone for the price
Jeffery Zigbuo its about what features you are going to get for the money you pay nd apple is way back nd that too hve to pay more for accessories nd apple just want to make mre mre mre money
karthik k v shrinivas that's a great part of why I made that statement you are so right look at the fast charging feature. You have to dish out another 80 bucks or so just to have that when that feature is standard on phones like Galaxies and one pluses
If Samsung supported software updates longer and quicker I would consider switching from my 7Plus. I just can't risk being stuck on Android O for 2 years and then maybe getting an update when Sammy feels like it. Great phone I'm sure, but they need to get better with updates.
Michael Willever I'm with you on this one, and to the replyer, it's different on all carriers. They need to get strict with they're software like Apple and release it right away.
Roland Koller yeah my wife has an S8 and we laid a lot of money for it. She should expect at least 2-3 years of relatively quick updates. I don’t know how much the carrier plays into it these days. One of the reasons I prefer iOS is that carriers have little to nothing to do with the software experience. No added apps taking up space. If I want T-Mobile apps I can download them on my own.
Mareks GW that is one of the phones that could possible steal me away from iOS, along with the Essential Phone and the One Plus 5. I just picked up the 7 Plus a few months ago so I’m gonna stick with it for at least a year.
I am in love with my Note 8 so far. I was finally able to give my Note 4 a well deserved rest. I like the Note line up because of the SPen. I use it on a daily basis. I find it so much easier then my big fingers. I am very happy with my purchase and getting $150. off the price during pre-order just made it that much sweeter.
BustedRC Note 4 user here. Can you tell me how you find the N8 coming from the N4, and specifically the spen features. What,if anything, has improved? I have played with the N8 and the thinness of it was a bit of a surprise. The N4's height was more comparable to the S8plus . one thing I did notice was that long pressing the back botton feature to access apps shortcuts on the N4 has been replaced with the edge swipe gesture on the N8 (and s8) .
I personally like the new SPen. it feels more fluid to me. The phone itself is more fluid and a lot faster. I still have tons to explore with the Note 8. But as of right now I know the wait was worth it for me. I still have to try more features of the SPen. The screen is just beautiful. I personally do not like how thin the Note 8 is. I did buy a few cheaper cases, but settled on the Samsung Rugged Protective Cover. I bought it from Bestbuy, They had it in stock in black ( $40.00 but I had a $10. in reward points). I would still buy it at $40. It adds the width to the phone for me that makes it more comfortable to hold. I wish I could give you more information but I am still exploring and trying new features. Have not had it too long ot time to really delve into it. But I am very happy with my purchase.
BustedRC I'm glad you're enjoying it. I'm so used to using an spen that I don't think I'll be able to buy a phone as a daily driver that doesn't have one.
Get my one and well coming from an iPhone 7 plus. I am happy with my choice. Wow that screen and iris scanner is first and the battery life is not bad. Also one of the best camera around.

What i love about pocketnow review's is that they actually address what matters to you no matter what type of a smartphone user you are, whether you're a casual user or a heavy user. love the channel
2 things: The Note series from what I have seen tends to be more "future proof" than compared to other devices. The Deep Sea Blue variant and Maple Gold variant need to be in the US.
I don't understand that inspite of being huge youtube channel for a long time why pocketnow has only 1M subscribers?? Underrated channel. Pretty good reviews of gadgets, everyday news, live sessions, and so much more!
"Feels like coming home" that's exactly how I felt. I went to the Pixel XL after the Note 7 recalls. I had previously owned every Note since the 3, so I took the opportunity to try something different, and boy was I underwhelmed. Glad to be back with a Note!!!
This is my second day with the Note 8 & I think its the most amazing piece of technology I've ever bought. I have no problem with the fingerprint sensor on the back. Apart from wanting a second speaker its just about the perfect smartphone!
This video messed with my head! I was watching the video on my Note 8 and it got to the part where you demonstrate "Bixby"...when it activated and reduced it size while the "Bixby" button was up...I thought your voice activated the feature on my phone! Nicely done!
this is something those who never owned note phone don't understand, yes many of them don't use it every minute or hour but there are times when you use it and that's when you realize the reason of its existence
Jaime, this review is a bit late for people that would have liked to pre-order. That being said your reviews have really stepped up in quality. Well done
Kevin Velásquez the s pen ends that comparison, v30 still a good phone i think its over rated why because LG shoulda dropped the v30 with the g6, i feel its late with not enough features
Anthony savena ...honestly, I don't think there will be a phone in a long time that will be on the level of this phone. This will be the best phone out in a looooonnnngggg time....so if you own it, be extremely proud of having it.
The 6GB RAM makes it blazing fast! I use the GPS and music apps together with no issues at all! Battery life is more than my friend's S8+, thanks to snapdragon 835. This is the best device of 2017 hands down! No wonder it is the most preordered Note till yet.
Pranav Dixit i would say better then note 4. For me enought because fast charge 1:45 and you have 100again. During night without charge it taking 10% from now on i will never put night recharge. I will recharge only when need, can find one hour during the day no prob
I've been an iPhone fangirl since 2008. Never had anything else. Switched to the Note 8 and LOVE it! While the Note 8 is missing some iPhone features, and iPhone is missing a TON of Note 8 features, I mainly switched out of principle. If I'm going to pay a crap ton of money for a phone I want it to be innovative and push the envelope.
Stefan Ciganovic specs don't mean everything, every year iPhones kill in speed. And no one has the same update pattern they have. Btw I'm not an apple person, typing on LG v20 going to the note 8 perfection
Stefan Ciganovic typical fandroid, pulling shit out from their ass like usual. The speed out performs even new laptops, has the FIRST 4k60fps, has a 256gb option, portrait mode on the front and back, facial scanning that actually works unlike Samsung's garbage excuse of facial scanning that can be fooled by a picture, five years of software support - the iPhone isn't behind at all.
I've changed my zoom settings from shutter button the volume buttons. I've always been using NOTE's sins NOTE 2 and just can't do without the S-Pen but this NOTE 8 is such a beast!
Jaime, thanks for another great review. You mentioned that you wouldn't use a custom launcher with the Note 8, but I wonder why. I'm using it with Nova, and can't see the disadvantages. Would love clarification from you or others here who do know.
Coming from the Note 4 and using a pin for years the fingerprint placement hasn't bothered me or cause any annoyances. I thought I could used both my index fingers but my left hand causes way more misfires. When I use my right hand (I'm right-handed) there are no issues. And I have to agree with those who said that cases help. All the Ringke cases I use help with guiding my finger to the sensor.
Took a while and it's now in line to be surely the phone of the year by many reviewers .... and about that price....well, not too bad after the Apple launch uh?
I don't use the S Pen alot on my Note 8 either but I must confess that having it is really cool and there are times when it truly does come in handy. It is a nice plus.
Great comments. I admit I'm rough on my phone. I use my 8 heavily every day and if I use some of the operating system's battery extenders I can usually stretch battery life to a day. I added a Mophie battery case and now I can easily take battery life to a day and a half. It slips on the back of the phone similar to some other cases and becomes part of the phone. When the phone warns me at the 15% remaining battery, I push the button on the back of the Mophie case and the battery recharges to full in a little over an hour. I continue pushing the phone and never need to slow down. It has access to the pen, all ports and buttons. I tried a couple other similar case rechargers but they were not very durable. - - - I don't work for Mophie nor get any compensation for saying this.
The only fault i found in the video is the "fingerprint sensor placement you will hate". Took me less than a day to get used to it on the s8plus, and i actually like where it is instead of the middle of the back. The note8 is just as easy. I've read many comments in assorted forums where people have got used to and like the placement. Good video otherwise, always enjoy your Samsung reviews!
The Note 8’s really done a great job at making me think twice at pre-ordering the iPhoneX. Always been an iPhone use, but I think imma jump on the Android wagon this time.
I have a Note FE, Tab S3 and Note8. Samsung Notes syncs across all the devices. I make 3-4 pages of business notes per day on my Tab S3 and these are are always available on my Note8. I also use OneNote on all my devices. I have a daily planner template and I use my S Pen to hand write daily tasks and appointments. Making notes by hand makes me productive as the information seems to stick in my head better. I just hope the Note FE and Note8 s/w remains in sync as Samsung do have a tendency to keep changing their note s/w.
ace 1121 they're really reaching with their fanboyism. They freak out over the fact people can actually want an iPhone, because "muh note 8 is the best"
Can’t even say I want an iPhone without some android fanboy going on a rant about how his little piece of technology is superior. I think they’re trying to compensate for something...
appleinformation ... even though I am sporting the note 8, the iPhone X is an amazing phone. I personally wouldn't bash anyone for buying it. There are things they should work on like fast charging being in the box when you buy the device along with a couple of other things, but overall, it is a competitor to the Samsung phone. If I didn't have my note, the next phone I would choose is the iPhone X and that speaks volumes because I hate iPhones. At the end of the day, it's your money being spent, so buy whatever phone you want
Great video, again! I also love the Note line. Despite changing carriers and getting a really good deal on a Pixel, I still carry around my Note 4 additionally when I'm around the house and can get a wifi signal. The S-Pen really improves the overall experience for me, too. It makes it feel much more like a pocket computer. That said, the over-the-top price of this phone will keep me away for probably a couple of years. Maybe I'll go pick up a Note 5 from ebay in the meantime... Oh, but one question. Did you try the lockscreen notepad functionality with a 3rd party launcher? It works for me on the Note 4 using Nova Launcher.
I thank god and my family, also my neighbors and everyone who supported me in my life to achieve this magnificent goal, thanks you for help me being the first commenter in this video couldn't do it without their help.
You will only hate the fingerprint scanner placement if you hold it wrong(at the bottom of the phone). Its meant to be held with you thumb centered on the power button. Even with smaller hands, holding it it that way will allow you to reach it with ease.
Finally a review which actually bothers to acknowledge bixby. Other UA-camrs keep whining that Android should only be assisted by Google Assistant. Bixby is actually really good, and the button makes it more usabls
If it just weren't so darn big, I'd be tempted. Since I have a hand tremor, the pen would be useless for me. I did, however use one on my Palm devices. The old has miraculously become new.
It seems to be a major gripe from most reviewers but I actually like where the fingerprint scanner is. Maybe it's because I have large hands but it feels great to me- no issue at all.
I have no idea why the fingerprint scanner is an issue. I can reach it easily without having to adjust my hand in anyway. I advise anyone interested in this phone to hold it in your hand yourself. The speaker is loud. This is my first note and I am sold! I love this phone. The best period.
Remember when they had stopped making these with removable battery and storage and people raged about it but now a few years later everyone has forgotten. They've even forgotten all the last year's stuff that's happened with the phone burning down peoples homes. Preorders for this phone are higher than they were for the note 7 and all the company's done was make the battery smaller. On a phone this size with this many features the last thing you want is a smaller battery. Obvious cost cutting step is obvious.
eurosonly don't believe the hype. Remember there was no Note last year so it's been two years, it is of course no surprise that pre orders are higher. Samsung will bring out marketing bunk like that to make you think it is selling well. Samsung are all about numbers and the dulls story is usuallly a lot more complicated.
Lester Dimaoala how's the battery on. The note 5 can it last a day a full day
bigmaxcc i don't think it could tbh, I'm a heavy user, so I would be charging at least twice throughout the day.. luckily it has fast charging.
Lester Dimaoala get back to us in 6 months about how it operates by then lol
Watching this on my Note 8. I agree that it is a king at what it does. You have to give Samsung credit fot their software. They've came a long way. Brando 24 hours total usage? What carrier do you use? And what's you're screen on time like?
Brando My S7 Edge was unbearably laggy to the point where I just wanted to throw it out the window. But even with Nova launcher installed my Note 8 hasn't stuttered once. I love it.
Lag? Not on my Note 5...Not everyone understands how to use and maintain their device.
I have AT&T ! My screen on time hits 5-6 hours
We'll see! Google put in place a new project with the OEMs to get the flagships updated faster!

RealDeal550 OMG ME😭
Lol true.
The fingerprint scanner placement doesn't bother me at all. Took me all of a half day to get used to it!
Jamie Collett agreed.
Note 8 is a Dope Phone!
Its a go
Aman Tech Tips I love mine

Kevin Velásquez in some ways yes but I agree the LG v30 is a beast I am really looking forward to getting one
Very nice review. I am still using the note 2 for downloading as my second driver. Almost 5 years down, still great to use..
krisnaive how are you getting by on such old software?
Brando cause they take care of their phones, like i do, i have an S5(not as old, obviously) but i love it
I miss my note 2's lock screen effect (the light one w/e it's called) that came with the 4.4 update. Note 4 needs more effects.
I miss my Note 3. I still say that was the best Note.
I miss my Note 4, to me it was the best phone of all time.
I have always loved the note line. Now that I have the note 8 it's just a great phone and more.

Kelsie Ellis LG v30?
Kevin Velásquez the s pen ends that comparison, v30 still a good phone i think its over rated why because LG shoulda dropped the v30 with the g6, i feel its late with not enough features
Kelsie Ellis more like the price of the note 8 should end the comparison.
Jeffery Zigbuo Can you explain to all of us exactly how the iPhone X is better than the Note 8?
An awesome phone and an even more awesome reviewer just love jaime's videos.
Texting From my Notes. I'm blown away at how good this Note8 is. I've always had android. but didn't expect it to be this good.

The Note20 is out but I am still using my Note8 since October 2017!
The guy at 6.08 looks like a younger version of Jaime. May be he is Jaime's son🤔
Rezaul Huq clone, born 30 years later ;)
The only fault i found in the video is the "fingerprint sensor placement you will hate". Took me less than a day to get used to it on the s8plus, and i actually like where it is instead of the middle of the back. The note8 is just as easy. I've read many comments in assorted forums where people have got used to and like the placement. Good video otherwise, always enjoy your Samsung reviews!
The Note 8’s really done a great job at making me think twice at pre-ordering the iPhoneX. Always been an iPhone use, but I think imma jump on the Android wagon this time.
I hope there will be a Note Mini. To be sized as the regular S8. Big screen + one handed usability + S-Pen = PERFECT PHONE
I'm happy with my S8+
I live the finger print scanner placement honestly it's really handy when I walk and hold it horizontally
I'm so excited for this phone I could explode.
Thank's My Best Buddy .....It's an awesome Presentation and Very Useful ...Great Job
My hands are HUGE this phone feels prefect to me, and i love the fingerprint scanner placement i thought i would hate it but its all perfect
Que in all the "Note8 is better than the IPhone x" comments
ace 1121 they're really reaching with their fanboyism. They freak out over the fact people can actually want an iPhone, because "muh note 8 is the best"
I really like the iPhone ten, but there are MANY things apple has to fix before i switch. On my opinion oc
At the end of the day, it's your money being spent, so buy whatever phone you want
carver 9 couldn’t have said it better myself.
Awesome review as always JR.
This is a balanced review. Rather than @unboxtheraphy iPhone biased crappy reviews.
A very sensible review, like I would expect from you guys. Kudos!
And that message at the end was cool :D
I thank god and my family, also my neighbors and everyone who supported me in my life to achieve this magnificent goal, thanks you for help me being the first commenter in this video couldn't do it without their help.
ELEXCEER
Ahahah you wish
"No Life" achieved! Congratulations.
D-brand owe all the tech youtuber’s
Yes please do an in-depth video on the S pen , much needed, thanks.
If you can get past the huge screen (too big for me personally) it's really all things to all people. Still one of a kind.
Who got a apple commercial before the video.
Great review, I cannot wait for an actual production LG V30 review as well.
The reason why I love Note is because of Spen.
Watching with my note8
I've always wanted more detail on the s pen in these videos but a separate video would be nice
Do Bigger Things 😆😆 I like that great review
You will only hate the fingerprint scanner placement if you hold it wrong(at the bottom of the phone). Its meant to be held with you thumb centered on the power button. Even with smaller hands, holding it it that way will allow you to reach it with ease.
I got a tech ad before this video lol
Can you shoot UA-cam Videos with it? Which is better for that, the Note 8 or the V30?
Finally a review which actually bothers to acknowledge bixby. Other UA-camrs keep whining that Android should only be assisted by Google Assistant. Bixby is actually really good, and the button makes it more usabls
Had 3 Notes- definitely the best but also the most expensive. Wish Samsung Australia would reward former Note owners with a decent trade in deal.
If it just weren't so darn big, I'd be tempted. Since I have a hand tremor, the pen would be useless for me. I did, however use one on my Palm devices. The old has miraculously become new.
great review! the highlight on microsoft and productivity made this the best note8 review for me. thank you :)
San Diego 🤘🏽.. taking gorgeous pics in sunny Sam Diego is never a problem for me!
Did you ever make a video about the S-pen? Would love to learn more about it.
Love my note8 and the s-pen! Love the integration for Microsoft Apps.
I'm on cricket wireless. Do I attain any benefit buying the at&t or the unlocked.
A dedicated DEX using the Note 8 video would be great. Thanks for the terrific review.
Thank you for pronouncing "orchid" correctly.
I'm so excited to upgrade from my 4 year old lumia 1520 for this!
I just used my friends S8 for few min & it didnt feel smooth AF, coming from a nexus 6 user. So I am not sure if I want Note 8
You should be getting more views!!!!! This review made me get this phone
I most definitely appreciate your unbiased review...thank you!
It seems to be a major gripe from most reviewers but I actually like where the fingerprint scanner is. Maybe it's because I have large hands but it feels great to me- no issue at all.
Hey, what were you doing in San Diego?
Love your reviews. Will you be doing one dedicated to Dex?
Note 8 has all the features, no matter what you do
Another great review. Thank you bro
Jaime Rivera is my one of my favorite smartphone reviewers!!!! Keep it up!!
Where did you buy the wristband for your gear 3?
Does wireless charging work while a case is installed on the phone?
Can you connect the note 8 with the Gear s2?
Yes, please make a seperate video all about the s pen and the amazing things it can do. My friend thinks it's useless and people just "draw with it"
Great review! Waiting for my black note 8 :)
