    Sometimes I get this bad feeling that a group of rich people out there somewhere are attempting to ruin the U.S.A. Certain laws get passed that seem to violate the family structure, ruin love within family members, and environmental groups halting U.S. mining production causing unemployment. Back in 1966 when I was in grade 8 in geography class we were required to study U.S. geography. From our textbook this is what we learned. Detroit was the automotive capital of the world(auto plants working day and night) and Los Angeles was second. Tons of steel produced in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Chicago(a major locomotive producer). Minnesota had the worlds largest iron ore mine, millions of tons of coal produced from Pennsylvania to Kentucky. Florida had the largest phosphate mine that would supply enough fertilizer to U.S. farmers for the next 4000 years. The U.S.A. back then was the worlds leader in mining, manufacturing, and agriculture. American families were close together and enjoyed an affluence never seen before in history. Now something has gone wrong--I feel.

    Truly an awesome machine. Without getting into the bit ch bog of comparison between brands komatsu and others with full wrap drive sprockets do have the edge over draped chain concept. Interested to know how the fracture of the material was achieved since the featured dozers has no ripper, was it blasted. Since it seems Komatsu capped size at 475 now is this because drapped chain could not advance HP much past 1000. It has seemed odd that dozers power platoded. Was it because of hi Track.

    • @keithsamples5
      @keithsamples5 3 роки тому

      Yes, and usually not very well...meaning that boulders that sometimes took 2 machines to move were not that uncommon.

    • @frankbertola3662

      @@keithsamples5 yeh Keith have had my time on the odd granite boulder. What of the fact cat capped dozers house power because 3.5 teeth sprocket to chain (hytrac drive) is practically limiting as against full wrap ie the 575. Would have appreciated a D12 or 13 or 15 maybe 2,000 hp "D20"

    What a rough place for a machine to operate. I'm imagining operating costs are much higher in a place like this compared to some cushy dirt box. I'm sure those costs are all factored in, but I'd be curious to see overall operating costs for the life of these machines in a place like this. D11 moves a lot less, but I imagine it's a lot less to maintain?

    • @rogerwoodland2587
      @rogerwoodland2587 3 роки тому

      machines like this are designed for rough places and the cost of wear and tear is all factored in so no problems.

      Move more, can reduce work time, also big advantage, sure this size of work area is suit to this size of dozer

    A great machine. What country is this in?

    • @keithsamples5
      @keithsamples5 9 років тому +6

      The machines are in the USA (WV). We had six in our service area...but due to the administrations "war on coal" and market prices. All are parked, just like a lot of miners in this region.

    • @Moleektus35
      @Moleektus35 9 років тому +7

      Keith Samples yes I live in southeast Kentucky and I too can agree wholeheartedly how this homosexual liberal administration has devastated families here dependent on coal production. Members of my family are struggling now just to make it. Damn shame and it pisses me off!

      @@keithsamples5 I know my chances for a reply are slim to none but I used to haul equip in and out of the mines back in the day. Any idea where any of these machines are located ?

    • @keithsamples5
      @keithsamples5 3 роки тому

      @@bharris7610 If any are still being used in production surface mining, there were several up Rt. in WV between Beckley and Whiteville. The one's I used to keep running were at mines called Progress and Edwight. They used to be Massey Energy mines but were sold to Alpha Resources after the Upper Big Branch mine explosion. No one liked them until they went down. Then it was...."How long to get it back up"
