Eric, This was about 2.5 weeks ago. We went out monday and wed of this week looking for more kings on spawn. Kings are gone. Had a couple members of our Spot on Crew at other harbors as well, who also didn't see any. Now that being said on Wed at Diversey We did manage a few brown trout, and did hook into a nice steelhead.
Hey Tony, You seem to know what to fish for and when in Chicago. I was really impressed with your videos and just had a few questions to ask. I will be in Chicago in early October and was wondering what the ideal fish would be to target and which pier. I will be near Lincoln park area. I would prefer to go after salmon, steelhead, or lake trout/brown. I just want to maximize my chances. What bait/spoon would be best for the fish that is best to go after also? Thanks a ton for your feedback. I'm just a bass, cat, crappie fisherman from Missouri with no experience on Lake Michigan. Cody
+Cody Johnston Hi, Oct on Lake MI can be a transition time. Kings are still around and can be caught on Spawn. Browns are eating Spawn as well as 3/4 and 1/2oz KO wobblers and Little Cleo's. The water temps will be cooling down nicely and we'll have Cohos running around as well. 1/2oz and 3/4oz KO and Cleo's will work for them as well. When we get closer to the mid part to end of Nov, we start pitching small tubes for the browns and cohos. The lakers will come "shallow" later on...but you'd still need a boat to catch them. I have caught a couple lakers from shore on a small tube...but it is not a common ocurance. Tony
Eric, we didn't get a chance to make it up to Racine this year. Tony usually prefers to fish Kings up there. All the fish in this video were caught on 3/4oz K.O. Wobblers. Blue/Chrome and Orange/Gold except for the Coho at night. It was caught on 3/4oz K.O. Wobbler in Blue/Glow.
Benjamin Fergus thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Unfortunately I am not aware of any good shore spots rights around Evanston. You can try a little south and hit Montrose Harbor or go North to Waukegan. Those are two very good options. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for you if I hear anything around Evanston. Tony
Cave Rambo Fishing We run 12lb mono. P-Line CX or P-Line CXX is what I prefer to run in the low vis green color. Another popular option is Big Game in 12lb low vis green. Tony
Cave Rambo Fishing yes it would be. 20lb mono will cause the spoons to ride to high in the water column. Also when the water is clear, which it more then likely will be if we get a few days with west winds, the kings do seem to be line shy. 12lb is a great option. Some guys will run 14...but that is the max for sure. I highly recommend 12lb Tony
I caught a Coho on Friday and really want to catch a big king. I've seen pairs swimming at mouth of diversey harbor lately. I fish there everyday. Let's go out one morning!
John Norman Unfortunately we haven’t been able to get out fishing for them yet. Our first 2 attempts were stopped by Mother Nature. Last week we had that one day where the winds shifted hard to the east and made it a little to dangerous to be out there. Our next scheduled filming date was yesterday, but we had that huge thunderstorm roll through and stopped us again. Hopefully we get down there soon.
what on we have not fished the city this year we have ben fishing in recine wis we did decent only landing about 50 this year but a lot of those small choho
Wow you guys did really well, All the reports I saw past couple years coming from chicago have been pretty dismal, thats why I started going up to WI to fish kings from shore years ago.
+josh militz I've been fishing fall Kings now since about 2000 or 2001. Many trips under my belt to Racine for the Kings. 2009 - 2014 has been pretty good over all for us in the city. While the numbers have been good, bigger Kings always are caught north into Wisconsin. Be it from Kenosha, Racine or Milwaukee. This fall was brutal. Very few Kings at all this year. Coho were in good at times this fall. From various reports I'm reading it looks like the population of Kings for the city is continuing to get worse and worse as there haven been less and less stockings and even less future stockings to come. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Tony
thanks for all the tips and tricks, Tony! New lakefront angler here. Your knowledge is priceless! Preciate these a lot.
You’re welcome! Sorry for the delayed reply! Trying to catch up this week on any comments that may have been missed over the last few months.

when was this was it 3 days ago or 3 weeks ago
hey tony, what kind of line and weight do you recommend using?
Cave Rambo Fishing We run 12lb mono. P-Line CX or P-Line CXX is what I prefer to run in the low vis green color. Another popular option is Big Game in 12lb low vis green.

+Spot on Fishing would 20lb be overkill?

I just found your videos. Very informative. Can you tell me where you are fishing from in the video? THanks
Jerry Ford We filmed this at Diversey Harbor in Chicago. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. We appreciate it!
I'm jealous...I'm going to have to get out there soon. Is this the same spot the last video?
Yes, same location. Don't be jealous, be diligent. It was a very tough run this year.
Where is the camera crew? lol
