I spend hours Watching your videos. You make it seem so Simple...... Thank you for sharing your work with us. Regards Mike. Take care with this new vírus.
You deserve a medal for the cleanliness of your language there Mike.....and I was amazed how those bolts through the water pump came out....they are usually right bastards!
Thanks for that young felah, you gave us a good example why you should use a tension wrench. On that note haven't people changed towards us seniors, when l went to the supermarket everyone kept away from me and didn't talk and when you go in,there is a chick with rubber gloves and spray bottle waitng for you to enter,of cause l said to her l already had my prostate done. Seniors get no respect these days😁
Two tips for those pully bolts and getting them off. 1. Get them off and replace then with 8m x 20s. These bolts come with a 13mm head put a extra nut on the bolt then you have a double depth 13mm bolt to pinch up & next time remove easier. 2. when you get the pully off put two 5-6mm holes through the face of the pully (1 at 12 and the other at 6 o clock) That way you can put a screwdriver through the pully and lock against the motor block thus you can lock the pully when tightening the bolts on the pully up & next time taking the bolts out.
I put a piece of cardboard on the back of the radiator to avoid dinging it when working around that area. Works well apart from remembering to remove it when you're finished!
G'Day Mike. Here I was punting that there was going to be no gasket at, just some 'silly-con'. But when you stated that the main three bolts were almost just finger tight it was face palm time because obviously a rock-ape had done the work prior and therefore didn't understand the difference between what should and shouldn't be tightened right up!
Crazy eh? The pulley bolts must be 100Nm and 2 Nm for the gasket. No wonder LR's have a bad rap for reliability I wonder what is being taught at trade school?
On hold for a few reason - the garage where it is stored has no access until mid April when all the snow has gone and the land dried out and also with the virus thing I may be able to negotiate a better price, as there will be a lot of Defenders on the market as folk will be strapped for cash
Never seen the 300tdi front end, a bit easier than the 200tdi. Such a bugger to do the P gasket on them. always best to run a bottom tap in those 3 long bolt holes in the block as you do.

That is why it leaked - not tight!

I had my prostate examined by a 20 something cute lady doctor!
Went back several times for second opinions...

See a lot of that in Canada where they put cardboard in front of the rad for better heating - only forgetting to remove it in spring!
yeah good call on that i us plywood

I wonder what is being taught at trade school?
@@BritannicaRestorations How to eat Apples and Bananas is my guess!
Britannica Restorations Ltd - they probably just teach how to tie shoe laces, open parts boxes and make UA-cam channels!
Au top la vidéo
sometimes you just get lucky was expecting the blow torch to come out for those water pump bolts.

The castings are so thin, and as silicone has been used before, best clean them out!
1 of the water pump bolts is completely seized in and wont come out ,,had to grind it off it will have on less bolt when put back on,,
Have to say, I prefer to pull the radiator to do this..
You could do
13:45 Well, you did say someone had been in there before......
For the extra time that it would have taken and the amount of hassle that it could have saved, I would be tempted to take the rad out...
