- We take a look at Towson Watch Co's Skipjack. TWC is an American watch company, based in Baltimore, Maryland, that has been producing high-end watches since 2000. The Skipjack is a marvelous GMT with pleasant details and a top grade movement. It's a great daily wearing watch and can be dressed up.

Never heard of Towson, but I have to say that I am impressed with what they have done here. Its nicely done and good value.
I think you and I are on the same page, Mr Budget Watch. And thanks.
Thank You!
This watch has nearly everything I like in a GMT. Size is perfect, clean near date window, Breguet style coin edge ... really like it! Good show ...
We share the same taste here, James. ☕️
Sounds like you two should go on a date!

Gorgeous watch. You did a wonderful job explaining what it takes to be an American watch, a description that is used too broadly without merit. Towson watches is the real deal. I had no idea that they only source from the Swiss and Germany but great ice cream comparison. It made sense with your analogy. I like your silver Skipjack but maybe I'd go for it in the black edition. What was the watch you showed at 8:55? That's interesting and fancy. Thanks for the video, my brother. 👍
Hey, Rich. Thanks. I believe the watch you referenced is an example of one of their custom watches. And yes the black model is sharp too. 🤙
Rich I’m with you. Twc survived their biggest obstacle as a watch company. They made it through a full generation which is what it takes for a watch company to make it. Or more accurately, it puts them on the right path at having been around for the 20 year benchmark. They now join the ranks of Bremont and Nomos which are now all the same age. You see my point? For restaurants they must survive the first six months and then after that their chances for survival are possible. But a watch brand after 20 years all but guarantees their continued existence. These guys look young but dedicated. Did they inherit Towson watches? Do you know Rich? I’m familiar with them but I want to know their watches more now. I saw them at microlux but they had a group of people they were busy with. But I did see a couple of their watches and they are very nice. As for the Skipjack I think I like the black. On your white one, don’t change the strap to black because you’re right that it’s contemporary on brown. Great job my boy Rich. 👍👍👍
Great point regarding the 20 years in business, Stephen. I think I mentioned that same point in a video sometime ago and it’s true. As far as inheriting TWC, not exactly. There is some family connections but Spencer acquired TWC and Taylor is the VP of the brand. Kevin Plank, from Under Armour, once had an investment stake for a stretch of time.
Big things to come for TWC! Young and passionate leadership for sure, but the legacy of our founders will always be the foundation going forward. We have something that just about no other American watch company can have, which is the mastery, experience, vintage machines, and most importantly the Swiss/German relationships, that our watchmakers have gifted TWC. Though based in the USA, where all design and assembly take place, TWC operates like a traditional Swiss watch manufacturer, commissioning only the best of the best at what they do to produce what we can't in our workshops at home in the US. We have access to the best specialized artisans in the world , and we collaborate with them in order to make the timepieces we want to make at the highest quality. Each and every one handcrafted from start to finish, and limited in production to 100. This craft approach to watchmaking won't change for us.
Can't say that it is the Heirloom quality nor reputation or heritage, but I really like the vintage looking dial and coin edge casing. Also really love the back-side design and see-thru case. They really did an awesome job on that one. $2500 isn't so bad, but it will be a tough sell. thanks for the review, Rich and keep it coming. have a great weekend.
I think the Skipjack will age well. Nothing trendy, just a nice tasteful design that should hold up nicely. Yeah not inexpensive as you say, just depends on what we’re looking for, SDG Alex. Interesting name change with SDG.
@@whatsonthewrist ha ha ha SDG stands for Super Duper Genius which my kids call me in very sarcastic ways, ha ha ha. I just can not wait to kick them out of the house and make their own living, ha ha ha
Ahh I see, SDG Alex. It’s all out of love. Funny stuff.
Any piece of art produced by the hands of a master at their craft is heirloom quality. Then again, heirloom quality isn't about reputation, but about the story. The story of its making, and the story of its wearer. Value isn't reputation, value is heritage. Art passed down from its maker to the buyer. The value then becomes priceless.
@@towsonwatchclips On point. 👌
Nice video Rich. I was not familiar with this brand prior to seeing this video. I think I may pick one of these up, I love the American made aspect along with the really high quality look. Great Job!
Hi, KDP. Good to see ya. Excellent established brand. Excellent quality inside and out. Let me know which model you go with.
They Towson Watch guys seem like great guys. I wish them all the best. I would love to see their watches in person. They look amazing. Twenty years in the business is a great accomplishment in the watch world. Is your skipjack a custom job or stock? I like it but I also like the black that u showed. If I could customize mine I wonder what a Tiffany blue dial would look like. I know Patek is taking a beating for their newest Tiffany blue but I have to say I like it. Skipjack has proper size proportions. Nothing to complain about except maybe $2000-$2200 might make me pull the trigger right now. But it’s definitely something to consider. Great job as usual. Merry Christmas Rich.
Hey, Tom. Yes indeed 20+ years is a nice milestone, which means they must be doing something right. The Skipjack here is stock but your idea for a blue dial is certainly interesting. Happy Holiday season to you. 🤙
Let's get that dial in the works for you!
Vintage-looking, with some modern touches...cool piece!👍😎
Better with the black strap, bro... you have a good eye!
Black looks crisp, but the brown really grew on me, iDid. 🤷♂️🤙
@iDid. Exactly. Enjoy this weekend and the holiday season. 👍
@@whatsonthewrist Yes sir, another Xmas and a New Year!
That's what it's all about!
I`d want that watch without gmt and as a no date with exactly that dial. Roman numerals - you either love them or hate them. They`re best suited to pocket watches because there´s no missing numeral at the 3 or 6 o`clock position. As for this one, it suirely is not inexpensive and thus a keeper regarding outlook for later re-sale. Btw, I`m never sure if prices you mention are incl. tax or not. Anyway, it is good looking and should sell well as an alternative to all the divers around. Take care!
Hi, Holger. Interesting perspective. Sounds like you should have this custom made with your specifications. When I reference a cost I don’t include tax because it might vary if there is tax. 🥃
🙌
Interesting video, I had not before heard of this brand.
Thanks, Dennis. Definitely a brand worth checking out.
Check us out!
Love the video!
Thanks and always nice to see you, Anthony. 🤙
💯
Nice watch, pretty unusual thickness for a gmt.But I dont like Roman numerals
Hi, Piotr. Really, the Roman numerals is one of my favorite parts of the dial.
