Nice to meet your mom finally! I agree with her ideas about the kitchen, and using the extra space as a butler's pantry make a ton of sense. That keeps all of your small appliances out of the way and in their own space.
Aren’t moms useful. We have been there done that and know how to make life easier for our daughters. 🤣🤣I have been doing the same thing for my daughter. Passing on knowledge from the mistakes we have made over the years. Great work.🙋♀️🥂
Love watching you be so creative!! It's quite wonderful watching a woman taking the helm!! You are doing what I've always dreamed of doing. I've helped others but never had the kind of funding I needed to do the remodeling for myself. I am so proud of you.
I wouldn’t put a shower in the small room near the kitchen . A toilet and sink would be fine. You could have more storage in that area for cleaning products, towels and linens. As there are two bedrooms upstairs, that is where you’ll need the shower.
Yes,,in my area in Canada, we tend to have a ‘half bath’ on the main floor, and then a full bath/shower near the bedrooms. With only the toilet and sink near the kitchen, you would gain a lot of space for storage.
She’s already planned to have laundry upstairs which will be better to not to have to bring dirty laundry down into the busy kitchen area and bring back upstairs. Also, she has a daughter so having the shower downstairs, which is already planned out, will be great for two busy females not having to wait while one is taking a bath if the other needs to bathe. It’s a good investment to install now in its rough state for any future resale or rental plans.
Along with everyone else I agree with taking off the door into the area where the water heater is. I would also change the bathroom door to swing into the bathroom instead of outward.
It's always nice to have a bathtub in the house not only for a relaxing bath, but also for soaking any injuries. You can put a shower fixture on the tub as well.
Sadie you and your mom make quite a team. She is fantastic, so knowledgeable about what works and why. I always enjoy seeing you two together. BTW, Janis knows how to install coving.
Think about a round table at the end of your island. Use the small room as a pantry and put a bifold door (solid panel) on the toilet room giving you more room in the pantry
Ah the voice of a mother's reasoning....always makes sense. Here in Australia, the moulding at the top of the wall that meets the ceiling is called the 'Cornice'. I agree it give the walls a more finished look, but it is up to you on your preference on how you want your room to feel. I totally agree with the removal of the door (have been shouting that to you for so long). Maybe consider not having a shower downstairs, and make that into your guest bathroom / laundry room. That way the upstairs will just be for relaxing and downstairs will be your entertaining and working appliances. Let's face it, who would want to use the shower downstairs when the bedrooms are upstairs.
Your mum’s idea is brilliant. You’ll get a mini butlers’ pantry and double de storage for the kitchen. Also the library wall is great, you’ll disguise the electrical boxes and don’t have to repaint the wall not to see the damp damage.
Love the fridge, oven, and microwave build on that one kitchen wall and the idea for the little space between the kitchen and powder room. Ohhh and the built in bookshelves and cupboard in the living room. Excellent ideas ladies!
Mom's idea is very good ad it pays attention to the triangle configuration of cook surfus and refrigerator. Also Mom's idea about the removal of the door and coffee station is really good. Covington is called wainscoting in Canada. I live in Ontario. Removing as many walls and barriers as possible gives you a lot more space and provides a feeling of spaciousness. I follow all of your family's channels.
I like your mom’s ideas. Having a little sink in that area where you can have your tea station would be nice as the plumbing’s is already there. I find tea cups and coffee cups are always stacking up and it would be nice to not have them in the big kitchen sink.
Love all of your mom’s ideas downstairs - making a good efficient kitchen work triangle! Love the tea room - great for extra storage too. Taking the door off is great too. I’ve seen people who have built a table with the same butcher block top that can butt up to the end of your kitchen counter - it’s just table height - and it kind of feels like just a lowered part of the island. In your upstairs bathroom, you could literally do a wet room at the far end - and the corner close to the entrance could hold a unit (built in or portable) for linen and toiletries storage. The American word you were seeking is “crown moulding” which is lovely but maybe not a necessary expense in materials and labor. Great ideas! As your brother would say - crack on!😂❤
Personally, I would go without the trim/molding. Nice to see the height of the rooms, and windows. It's a nice finish for bedrooms.......gives a cozy feel.
Just a thought....because the unit doesn't have central air conditioning maybe consider a ceiling fan above the dining area for summer air circulation. I live the idea of a butler's pantry in the alcove off the kitchen!! Getting rid of the door is a brilliant idea! Even consider making the opening bigger into the butlers pantry area for a more spacious feel. A zero threshold shower is a terrific idea! Maybe consider a pocket door for the bathroom upstairs so there's no need to worry about taking up space with where the door swings 🤔
Much better ideas - 2 heads are always better than 1, especially as your mum has been involved with past renovations etc. Defo bath and taps with integrated shower attachment for upstairs. Combined huge wardrobe space for you and Olivia too. Lots of work ahead, good luck and happier personal times. xx
As you are going to have a full bathroom upstairs. You could use the shower area downstairs as a butler's pantry, which would give you a lot more storage space as well. You could even put your washing machine and dryer in there, giving you more room in your bathroom upstairs.
Sadie, I like this idea the best. Upstairs bathroom is for you and your daughter. Downstairs utility room, washer, dryer and cupboard space, hoover, mops etc. that way clear separation. I can ‘t see the need for two bathrooms in a small flat.
Your Mom has some good ideas for your flat Sadie. It will be a beautiful, comfy home for you and Olivia when finished. Glad you will have a bathtub. Sometimes a girl just needs a bubble bath. 🙏❤️
I really like your plans for the apartment, everything makes perfect sense. Having a table at the end of the island keeps extra space for cooking/serving and if it expands you have lots of room for company. The room between bath and kitchen could be used for storage for either room. Great ideas for a place that’s going to really be yours!
Good to see what future plans you have in store, your Mum has a lot of sensible knowlege from years of experience regarding easy living layout of rooms. The future looks really good for you and Olivia so keep renovating Sadie, good luck 💕🇦🇺
Just off the top of my head, when doing your wet room for your shower, make yourself a little 'seat' area. It doesn't have to be big, but it will give you a place to pick your leg up to shave, a place for extra shower stuff, a place to sit if you want to just soak in the the steam a bit. TRUST me! It will come in handy. My mom had one built into her shower and I was so jealous. I had to get a stool to put in my shower area, and I hate it. When I redo my bathroom, I want exactly everything tiled and I'll build in a seat in the shower.
Sadie its going to be great!!! Shower downstairs and bath upstairs would be the best. Keeps both bathrooms with space to move around in. Might have to flip a coin for the bathtub. Your mum has great ideas to help you finalize your plans. Mothers always know best and your mum is pretty cool. The butlers pantry is really nice idea. Check out Kacha for ideas when it comes to decorating ideas. She is amazing!!! Best.
To create more space, have the shower room door swing into the shower room as opposed to into the little room to create more space in the “new” pantry area.
Great idea for the butlers pantry. Agree with previous comment that you only need a toilet and sink downstairs. Personally i have always thought the work bench is too big and too wide.. Should be swung around and attached to wall and narrower - would give you heaps of space for dining area.
Mom is right. The table would be out of the traffic path. Makes sense. "Coving" in the states is called "crown moulding". You could have a shower/bath combo.
Remember to have a space for cleaning supplies ie: broom, vacuum etc. Where will the air conditioner go? If you have gas you could have a small hot water on demand.
The changes make a lot of sense. In your walkin closet you might consider moving the doorway entrance from your bedroom away from the ad joint wall about a foot or so. While you will be losing that wall space from doors wall, you'd be gaining usable wall space on the adjoining wall for shelving, etc since it would no longer block the pathway. Best of luck!
I'd probably put the washing machine and dryer into the small room off the kitchen and make that a utility room , that way you'd have a bigger bathroom upstairs and could fit a bath and shower upstairs
That’s good placement for the fridge for the classic kitchen work triangle near the sink and stove. You should make a pretend cup of tea to test out the workflow. (Distance from kettle to sink, back to plug in kettle, tea bags to pot, fridge for milk etc. ) Also a rectangular dining table with the thin side beside the island will be good for traffic flow. You have great ideas.
And having washer dryer upstairs where clothing and bedding are in use is very wise. I wish they could be accessible even when someone is using the facilities.
Excellent ideas. Best to walk thru and imagine how you’d be working or using each area in the kitchen for easy access. The less cumbersome the better. Nice going Sadie and happy to see your mom helping you out. Nice to have another opinion.
Mumma Petherick has all the good design ideas 😊 much better place for the fridge and a mini butlers pantry ❤ Would love to see an update on your parents place sometime.
All, so sensible. Mums eh? One thing. I do like your transition from walls to ceiling. It is so slick, It looks far more modern than a coving and adding a coving will make the ceiling feel lower. Just a Thought. How exciting.
Like how you are balancing the yang energy of the renovation with the yin energy of the softer styling for the interior decoration. Little touches like the pot plant on the window sill make a difference in vlog presentation. Like the palette you have chosen.
Great ideas! Any possibility of reversing the swing of that second door with it swinging into the bathroom, an “out swing” as opposed to the in swing that it is now? And maybe also having the hinges on the other side of the casing. It would really expand the usable space in the planned pantry.
Sounds great but why have a shower downstairs? Have a loo and basin downstairs off your butlers pantry and put your washer dryer in there too. So all work areas in one place. Then you can have a nice big bathroom upstairs.
Before you cut the area where your stove/oven on the island should be, why not put the down draft in the new area of the kitchen. (Between the windows.)
Nice to meet your mom finally! I agree with her ideas about the kitchen, and using the extra space as a butler's pantry make a ton of sense. That keeps all of your small appliances out of the way and in their own space.
I have been following your show for a decade with your beautiful family. I'm glad to see your mom with you. God bless your family always.
Aren’t moms useful. We have been there done that and know how to make life easier for our daughters. 🤣🤣I have been doing the same thing for my daughter. Passing on knowledge from the mistakes we have made over the years. Great work.🙋♀️🥂
She has been in episodes on her brother’s channel.
Lots of new viewers! Welcome!
She has been on many of Sadie’s youtube videos in the past. Just watch some of the former ones and you will see how many she has been in.
Your mom has good ideas, probably from her own experiences with their cottage. Your apartment will be wonderful when you finish it.
Upstairs ..2nd level
Love watching you be so creative!! It's quite wonderful watching a woman taking the helm!! You are doing what I've always dreamed of doing. I've helped others but never had the kind of funding I needed to do the remodeling for myself. I am so proud of you.
Mom has the best ideas Sadie. The fridge needs to be where you cook. So happy you are getting back to this apart.
I wouldn’t put a shower in the small room near the kitchen . A toilet and sink would be fine. You could have more storage in that area for cleaning products, towels and linens. As there are two bedrooms upstairs, that is where you’ll need the shower.
Yes, I also thought of that. Big enough to add a small laundry machine, and a nice sink also, possibly storage.
Yes,,in my area in Canada, we tend to have a ‘half bath’ on the main floor, and then a full bath/shower near the bedrooms. With only the toilet and sink near the kitchen, you would gain a lot of space for storage.
Best to keep the laundry upstairs though.

Along with everyone else I agree with taking off the door into the area where the water heater is. I would also change the bathroom door to swing into the bathroom instead of outward.
Or a pocket door if there is enough wall space to accommodate one.
Your mum has great ideas. Shes experienced many years of cooking and knowing what works.
Love the idea of removing the door in the kitchen area . I feel as if you will like that much more .
Yannis.
Coving is called crown molding over here. “Coving” would be a beautifully curved molding….I adore moldings ,they finish walls !!!❤❤
Think about a round table at the end of your island. Use the small room as a pantry and put a bifold door (solid panel) on the toilet room giving you more room in the pantry
…..Mother knows best! Your Mom has some good and practical ideas!! Looking forward to the next part of your journey…
Mothers know best. She is a blessing for Sweet Sadie. Keep smilling Sadie.

Your mum’s idea is brilliant. You’ll get a mini butlers’ pantry and double de storage for the kitchen. Also the library wall is great, you’ll disguise the electrical boxes and don’t have to repaint the wall not to see the damp damage.
Remember to insulate well between the fridge and the oven, Sadie! ❤
Billy needs to work out the damp.
Love the fridge, oven, and microwave build on that one kitchen wall and the idea for the little space between the kitchen and powder room.

Great ideas! As your brother would say - crack on!😂❤
In America, coving is called crown molding.
Also, the act of carving out the design on the moulding is sometimes called coving. As is mitering the corner pieces.
Personally, I would go without the trim/molding. Nice to see the height of the rooms, and windows. It's a nice finish for bedrooms.......gives a cozy feel.
Fabulous! Perhaps a pocket door in bathroom. Sliding door more convenient. 😊❤

a pocket door is a great idea
Ceiling fans in bedrooms might be a good idea, heat rises.
Hardly need air conditioning in Northern France, not really tropical!
Great to see you Sherrie! You’re such a supportive mom ❤
Much better ideas - 2 heads are always better than 1, especially as your mum has been involved with past renovations etc. Defo bath and taps with integrated shower attachment for upstairs. One day you’ll sit back when it’s all done and have so much pride you did it yourself. 🎉❤

Mum & Sadie brainstorming & coming up with brilliant ideas 🤗
Its going to look Amazing 🤗👍🌹💐🌹☕🍰☕🍰
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
More storage is always great!
Love your mom’s ideas, definitely a little sink when the water is already there😊❤
I like your Mum's ideas! She's clearly had a lot of experience. A small sink in the coffee/tea station makes sense, too.
You are going to have a Homeworthy Apartment. Congratulations.
Nice to see your Mom helping with great ideas. Glad you’re moving ahead on the apartment.
Very sorry. This young man deserves every respect.
Your aparment is going to be SIMPLY STUNNING!!! 🥰🎶❤️🎶🌻🌻🌻🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Love that you already have a plant--plants always make a place more homey
Just off the top of my head, when doing your wet room for your shower, make yourself a little 'seat' area. To create more space, have the shower room door swing into the shower room as opposed to into the little room to create more space in the “new” pantry area.
That new little area becomes a type of butler's pantry. Superb!
By turning the shower door to open into that room (or installing a sliding door in the bathroom) your pantry space would be much more useable
Great idea for the butlers pantry. Agree with previous comment that you only need a toilet and sink downstairs. Personally i have always thought the work bench is too big and too wide.. Should be swung around and attached to wall and narrower - would give you heaps of space for dining area.

I would definitely put one toilet downstairs and one upstairs. You will love it when you get older or sick or when you have some visitors ❤
And having washer dryer upstairs where clothing and bedding are in use is very wise. I wish they could be accessible even when someone is using the facilities.
I like your new ideas. Also like seeing your mom with you. It’s wonderful that you have a mom to help you. Good job Mom!
Love your mom. She has very good spatial sense.
The water heater space would also work for a pantry.
Excellent ideas. Best to walk thru and imagine how you’d be working or using each area in the kitchen for easy access. The less cumbersome the better. Nice going Sadie and happy to see your mom helping you out. Nice to have another opinion.
We also call it Coving but, Mouldings is used more often.
The coving or crown moulding is a excellent idea.
Mumma Petherick has all the good design ideas 😊 much better place for the fridge and a mini butlers pantry ❤
Would love to see an update on your parents place sometime.
It's going to look lovely when it's finished but oh, what a lot of work! It's going to be fun to watch you tackle this big job. Girl Power!
Sadie I love the colour of your walls. Listen to your Mum. She’s had years of experience. She’s lovely
We're getting to know your mom. She's delightful and full of good ideas.
The shower …. Make sure it’s spacious enough so one can turn around .. bend over .. etc ! Definitely will make a difference ! 😊
It's lovely to see your mom again; it's been a while. You all have some great ideas for the apartment.
Pěkné to bude Sadie, dveře mezi velkou kuchyní a tou malou kuchyní bych dala zasouvací aby nezabíraly místo .Moc držím palce.
All, so sensible. Mums eh? One thing. I do like your transition from walls to ceiling. It is so slick, It looks far more modern than a coving and adding a coving will make the ceiling feel lower. Just a Thought. How exciting.
In your upstairs bathroom use a sliding or byfold door to save space .
Like how you are balancing the yang energy of the renovation with the yin energy of the softer styling for the interior decoration. Little touches like the pot plant on the window sill make a difference in vlog presentation. Like the palette you have chosen.
It's so nice to see your mom on the vlog again! HI Sherrie. I am so excited to see these ideas put into place!
it's going to be a lovely, cosy home when it's done! You're Mom had some wonderful ideas!
Coving…. Crown molding …. Yes would look very decorative !!
They sell refrigerators that are counter depth and it would fit where your Mom said.
You’ve got the nicest mom and dad.
Coving will take the decor from the present contemporary modern decor into more traditional style.
Is that water damage already on the newly painted wall?
Great ideas! Any possibility of reversing the swing of that second door with it swinging into the bathroom, an “out swing” as opposed to the in swing that it is now? And maybe also having the hinges on the other side of the casing. It would really expand the usable space in the planned pantry.
it's called Crown Molding in America! love these ideas!
Yay for Sherrie!! I agree with her. I’ve thought from the beginning that the door should be removed. 👍🏻👏🏻🇳🇿
Worth properly planning before starting any work. Measure up and draw everything to scale
Your mom has great ideas. Are tankless water heaters a thing in France? That would give you a bit more space.
Yes! Coving! Repaint and attach .
This will be a really great and cozy apartment for sure.
Mom’s ideas are perfect
Your mother has good ideas, congratulations.
The paint looks so zen and stylish. Love that color. 😊
We call it "crown molding" in the USA.
Moms are great! I am glad you are getting help with decorating.
Enjoy the process - sounds like things are in motion.
Its going to look fantastic, nice to see your mum.
What about a wine/drink fridge in the old oven space and a kitchen pantry where the water heater is?
Yes, those pull-out pantry cupboards are brilliant
Sounds great but why have a shower downstairs? Have a loo and basin downstairs off your butlers pantry and put your washer dryer in there too. So all work areas in one place. Then you can have a nice big bathroom upstairs.
Hi Mum! Looking good Sadie
Have you thought about a sliding door into the washroom off the kitchen? Would be take way less space
Before you cut the area where your stove/oven on the island should be, why not put the down draft in the new area of the kitchen. (Between the windows.)
Mom has great ideas.
Good to see you Sherrie! Miss seeing you around😊
