  • What does the designated safeguarding lead do? The designated safeguarding lead or DSL is the person appointed to make sure that early years settings are adhering to safeguarding and child protection requirements. It is their responsibility to report any allegations of abuse, keep robust safeguarding records in day nursery and preschool settings, update childcare setting policies and procedures with regard to safeguarding and child protection, ensure confidential records are stored securely and oversee early years practitioners safeguarding training.
