The first thing she said was that she was now in charge. She figuratively cut off his balls and the emperor later did it literally. He later fell in love with Ruyi, but she just loved Hongli. Later Hongli/emperor destroyed her love for him. Ling Yunche stayed true to Ruyi, but she was already in love with the emperor. Later the emperor realized Yunche loved Ruyi but couldn't accept that Ruyi was faithful to him. As Yunche agreed to die, it was solely for the benefit of Ruyi. He truly was unlucky in love.

this is a discovery that really shocked me in the palace of yanxi, not only can the emperor decide on a marriage unilaterally so much so that even the consent of the 2 parties is secondary but he can also prohibit a union that displeases him. it's awful!!!
