I hope one day Indian fashion would be the theme of met Gala cause there is so much much culture and history that we could present. Like so many ways of wearing sarees , the rich and colorful designs and patterns , jewellery and bindis
@@AndjelaDra99I hope that type of lunatic fanaticism (accusations of appropriation) is starting to pass. It's a weird fad, but it's a fad. That used to not exist. Many different cultures want to share what they have/know with others. It's been happening since the beginning of civilizations. India have such powerful and ancient culture to continue to evolve from, they could absolutely be proud of their heritage. Stunning art and skills is shown here.
Dior needs to be transparant about whether these artisans are compensated equally to their French colleagues. Is this celebration or is this reframing years of outsourcing (read: exploitation) in response to India's emergence as a massive luxury market and growing online cultural awareness about ethical production, as well as the non-western origin of many embroidery techniques? The work on display in this collection is stunning and I believe the creatives (including MGC) behind Dior are earnest in their appreciation of Indian craftsmanship, but with LVMH turning record profits, I thinks it's fair to ask critical questions about the integrity of this 'celebration' or whether this expert pr. It would be nice if one of the most profitable and prolific brands were to take the lead in solving some of the world's systemic inequalities by foregoing short term profits and showing their appreciation of Indian craftsmanship in quantifiable terms. Their current silence speaks volumes...
I agree. Dior have chosen India because of the rock bottom production prices, like every other company does. This spin of offering the ‘tAlenTeD ArtIsAnS’ ‘recognition’ changes nothing.
This is a premium level of craftsmanship. Every piece is art. This is so intense. The collection is so powerful yet feminine. Very enchanting like wow there are so many things going on but also very well put together. I am just out of words. Thank you India for sharing your colorful culture.
I am totally impressed with the skill and craftsmanship of the people of India. The work they displayed in the video is unbelievably beautiful. I would love to learn how to do half of what they were doing!
A skill passed down from generations.. all the craftsmen come from the Muslim community. They are blessed with creativity. I was very lucky to work with them in the industry for a long time ..
I think this is first time that an international brand like Dior is recognizing the artists behind their pieces and presenting them to the public. 👍🏼 More brands should do this .
As an Indian I feel like india can stand alone without the partnership of Dior. I mean look at the skill and craftsmanship. They should make a brand in itself with out relying on expensive partnerships that only drain resources
it will take some time for us to capture the market. Right now, western brands with little to no knowledge of craftsmanship compared to Asians are using Indian craftsmen and Bangladeshi labour to sell their products. Just look at Chinese, Japanese and Indian craftsmanship... Western clothes are BLAND. WE KNOW IT! It's boring fashion but they have the resources and they have monopolised a lot of it. It will take some time to break the hegemony but we are going towards that very fast.
The problem is Indian’s haven’t been able to market our products internationally or even nationally because of the closely knit culture and different social stigmas and conditions that prevail
thank you for giving indian craftsmanship and textiles a voice to express themselves on a global platform, it deserves all the recognition it gets and celebrates the traditional heritage of india in a new light! Hoping for Indian fashion to continue being celebrated around the world !!
Why you need 'Dior' to give Indian culture recognition. If you read history, India has always been known as a hub of craftmanship since Indus Valley Civilization. This Dior is nothing but overrated shit
Such exquisite state of the art crafts, with the Indian color palette, embroidery with sapphires, mirrors etc. Indian fashion, and their material, many are hand crafted with techniques existing for centuries. India should get a worldwide spotlight and recognition for their fine art, crafts, fashion and much more of their wonderfully rich and diverse culture.
The magic that is created in India is mind blowing ♥️!!!!!! I have a few pieces of hand made fabric pieces that are made in India that I purchased directly from artisans which I cherish. Bravo et merci à l'Inde et leurs artisans 🙏♥️!!!!!!
I must say this the whole concept and motive of this collaboration excellent. The way they displayed indian craftmanship and the history is so beautiful even the music choice is so creative.

Why anyone is helping these European brands is beyond reason itself. And yet, as shown in this video, 3rd world citizens are too busy being flattered by the mere attention from an "advanced" western bloc.
