My first thought was, we need to define rich. Most of us are as compared to most of the world's population. We are so blessed to have a home, new vehicle, no debt and savings. Most importantly we have Faith!!
Speaking of restaurant supply stores! I have four cats which means multiple litter boxes. I go to my local restaurant supply store and purchase jumbo busboy tubs. They are thick and sturdy (they have to be to carry tables full of dirty dishes), much better quality than what they sell as cat boxes and even come in 3-inch sides and 5-inch sides; the last time I bought some they were only $5 a piece!😽
Along the lines of going to a restaurant supply store for cooking supplies, we have purchased cleaning supplies from janitorial store. Often the products do a better job and are much more economical, you just need to buy in bulk. We sometimes will split things like a two pack of gallon floor cleaner with a family member.
I bought Summit (found at Target) water bottles for my kids this summer to keep their drinks cool and ended up buying a big one for myself and it was sooooooooo worth it! They’re super durable and don’t sweat, are similar to a yet, and aren’t super expensive. The best part is they come with a coupon for a free replacement lid or bumper for the bottom of you bottle.
I worked as a recruiter for 20+ years. Negotiating a salary can be done, and successfully. The big IF is it has to be done AFTER the job offer is made, and before the actual acceptance.
Recently while out shopping at Costco after a medical appointment I decided to purchase a pre made quinoa salad and hummus as I refused to purchase a restaurant salad. I'm a whole food plant based gal and definitely save money by not purchasing meat, eggs and dairy.
Hubby and I didn’t eat out for over a year because of the pandemic. We ordered two meals at a fast food joint. It was $20.00! We used to eat out at nice sit down restaurants for lunch for less than $20.00. Back to home cooking!
My husband and I use Hydro-flasks -- but we didn't pay for any of them. We have a friend who works at a local hot springs and people leave them behind all the time! I mentioned to her that I wanted a hydro-flask and she gave me 6 of them! They're stainless and easy to sterilize. So if you have a friend with access to the lost and found box at the local pool, park, etc, might be good to ask.
@@THEJENNIFERCOOK I lost mine and when I called the place to see if they had found where I left it behind they told me it wasn't there. So you're the one that has it
I’m in the market for a new used car and I was just wondering what vehicle you ended up purchasing. I’m glad to hear that your happy with your vehicle purchase. This car buying thing is so overwhelming. There are so many vehicle options. I value your opinion and have been asking those who have recently made vehicle purchases and are happy with their choice.
I agree with others who recommended Hydroflask. Only bottles I own and have had them for years. Use Contigo for my coffee, but Hydroflask for water. Worth every cent. Have had them for over 10 years after a friend recommended, have left them in my car in the summer and still cold hours later., and they don’t sweat.
I agree with you about the credit card charges. When I order something, I use my credit card to pay, then immediately pay it off. If an issue arises, which it has, the bank will contact the seller and the issue is settled. Also, I use my credit card to purchase items I have saved up for, then pay the balance on the credit card immediately because I have the money in a savings account! I earn points that I apply to the unpaid balance or transfer to my savings account. This takes learned discipline
Yes to the job offer counter-offer. Support it with some facts (average of salaries in similar companies in the area, cost of living in the area, etc). Worst case scenario, they say they cannot. I got almost a 7.7% increase on my first job!
There is a shortage of crab due to climate change. The crab are moving towards north for colder water. Thanks for all your info, I really appreciate your content! 😊
Hi! I leaned about negotiating a job offer from a person who does seminars for large companies. Every single time I did counter offer I got what I asked for. Yes, if you do not counter offer, you are losing out on a lot of money.
I am a nurse and have always negotiated my salaries. I managed my career. When I became disabled this was a godsend. One place took 3 months and came back with salary I wanted.
Definitely, didn’t know about the counter-off strategy, we have always been told not to really mention salary too much when you go into job interviews. I always thought maybe take the job if you like it and prove yourself first then ask for the a raise.
You don’t ask about salary until they make you an offer. I say I’m going to think about it for a few days because I’m considering other offers. Then I’ll counter offer a day or so later. You can negotiate higher salaries or other benefits such as vacation days. It doesn’t hurt to politely counter offer
Yes, food prices are going up like crazy even more so now. I saw 2 liters of coke now being sold for 2.25 today which could be good to help me cut out my pop addiction lol
Hydroflask water bottles are my favorite. They keep your drink cold forever! I also like the simple screw tops/lids they come with (no straws). Makes it easier to clean! 😄
For S’well water bottle lookalike, check out the other brands’ stainless steel water bottles at Marshalls. They usually cost half of the S’well brand. Make sure the label says the bottle will keep your water cold for 24 hours or hot for 12 hours. That’s the standard for stainless steel water bottle. I usually wait for them to go on sale at Marshalls. I bought a few in the spring for $1. They had a oversupply & were clearing them out aggressively.
Bubba brand from walmart! I have the cup for around the house and it's awesome and way cheaper than a yetti. They also make water bottles so I would assume they work just as well. I don't care for my swell bottle. I have one to take hot water with for making baby bottles and I don't think it does well at all. I have some weird off brand blue glitter one from walmart and it keeps the water hot longer than a swell bottle.
Haha countering is important. I was applying for a position they wanted to train my for but once trained a good income was 28/hour. Introductory rate offered me 16. I said no bc cost of living was way higher in the area and countered with 19/hr. They took it.
I have been to a restaurant supply store, they do have some good deals. My husband is gluten free and I make his bread, I will buy gluten free flour from the restaurant supply store in a 25lb bag, the price comes out to $2 a lb instead of the almost $4 a lb Walmart charges for the same brand.
Regarding the crabs: I know many lobstermen chose to not work and collect unemployment during covid times Therefore amount of lobsters caught went way down..probably same for crabs:/
We have GFS hear Gordon Food Service like to go there for bulk buys or large quantities for parties they also have utensils plus other restaurant products.
I do that. I usually end up amassing a lot of coins from the small compartment in my car. When it gets too much, l empty out most of the coins, transfer them to jars...one for silver and the other for pennies. Later on l roll them and turn them into my bank!
My daughters and I take a Mother/Daughters weekend every year. I pay for my share of it using my “change jar” that collects my change throughout the year! And if I didn’t use cash for other purchases, I wouldn’t have that change to pay for my trip!
I have a Swig water bottle that I really love. Unfortunately, I cannot remember where I got it from. And I just don’t get that there are people who don’t understand that you can’t spend money you don’t have, unless it’s an absolute emergency. I have used credit cards to my advantage for many years without a problem.
We have a local restaurant supply store that we go to about once a year. They indeed that great prices. The items may not be beautifully designed but they are functional and very durable.

My favorite insulated water bottle is from The Fly Lady website.
My husband and I have loved and have MANY (😬) simple modern bottle from Amazon! Multiple sizes and options! Love love love them. Ice stays for DAYS!
I graduated from nurse practitioner school and one of my teachers told us to never take the first offer at a job.
Did it work?
It did! I ended up being the highest NP they had just by negotiating well.
