  • Jiri Prochazka is one of the best fighters in the world. He is a UFC MMA fighter who was once a champion, and even though he lost to Alex Pereira by knockout ko, he still defeated Jamahal Hill in spectacular fashion who too is a superb striker. With that said, lets take a closer glance at his training or shadow boxing.

He's practicing FLOW... Every movement with a defense/offence... One move leads to another

Jiri's best move is when he blames his opponent for using voodoo.

Some people focus on looking pretty, on the bag, in shadow boxing etc. yet put 'em in there and they look nothing like they practice. I've noticed that there is a performance like an act, for example Taekwondo acts, and Muay Boran choreography. It looks beautiful but does not always translate into reality.

Thats literally how I train but check it...when we dont have an opponent in mind the training is basically just 2 components:
    1. closing the distance. Assuming we have a moving target.
    2. Defensively responsible(assume a shot is coming after every potential movement. For example if I use a rolling defense I assume im getting leg kicked on the way out and come up with a defense for it. That way if it happens i know what to do and have trained it.
Doing that day after day to refine a style will make you on par with anyone that doesnt do it for their entire profession.

I know its not possible considering the evolution of any pro fighter, but if the jiri that made his ufc debut comes back.. Its over for Alex. I say that with due respect to Pereira 👍

He's too readable. He's one of the best strickers in ufc. Not the world. Far from it.

He’s very unorthodox and if you had jiri in front of you with an off beat pace i doubt your reads would be deceptive to you especially in an MMA fight. Unorthodox fighters have an offbeat pace that can break or throw off rhythm or pace when in a MMA bout for sure especially one with power.

He was at the top in Japan for years before he went to the UFC so he's one of the best strikers in about 2/3 relevant promotions.
